Skoda Superb iV 2020 is a Plug-in Hybrid car. It has 1.4 TSI (1.4 l turbo-petrol engine) 115 kW 156 HP plus 85 kW 115 HP electric motor. Total system power: 160 kW 218 HP. The lithium-ion battery capacity: 13.0 kWh gross (part of it - 10.4 kWh - is available for driving). Skoda claims Superb iV can cover up to 62 km (~38 mi) in all-electric mode (E-Mode). I checked it in a city and outside of a big city. Results:
#Superb iV 1st test in a city: 54 km (33.6 mi) in real test (eco-driving in a city) with 17.4 kWh/100 km; 28 kWh/100 mi; 3.57 mpkWh.
#Superb iV 2nd test outside of a city: 59.6 km (37 mi) with 16.3 kWh/100 km; 26.2 kWh/100 mi; 3.81 mpkWh
At 90 km/h (56 mph): 17.3 kWh/100 km; 27.8 kWh/100 mi; 3.6 mpkWh
At 120 km/h (75 mph): 24.1 kWh/100 km; 38.8 kWh/100 mi; 2.6 mpkWh

Really good camera work and graphics I have the Mercedes e300de estate and in normal everyday driving it does about 20 miles (32 km) on fully electric with heater on thanks again for great videos

Hej, to czego brakuje mi w tych testach, to żebyś wyskakiwał na jakąś ekspresówkę i sprawdził jak to sobie radzi przy jednostajnej jeździe 90, 110, 120km/h. Jest bardzo dużo ludzi, którzy po drodze do pracy mają np połowę drogi ekspresówką - myślę, że w takich warunkach z 60km zasięgu łatwo zrobi się 40km

why is it changing gears in EV mode? Is it because it needs to be ready in case the Engine needs to kick in?

Jak wygląda kwestia hałasu w kabinie przy jeździe na samym prądzie? Czy jest ciszej niż z włączonym silnikiem spalinowym przy tych prędkościach do 80 kmh ? Czy inne hałasy są dokuczliwe jak np zawieszenie, skrzypienie itd ?

Wiadomo, jest ciszej, bo choć 1.4 TSI jest bardzo ciche, to mimo wszystko je słychać :) Auto jest dobrze wykonane, więc skrzypienia czy innych rzeczy nie słychać, ale wiadomo: wyciszenie Audi A6/A7 to tutaj nie ma

I don’t always get the chance to charge the batteries. Interested to know how the car performs if you just run it on petrol - would it be similar to the 1,5 tsi from a power an economy standpoint?

Great video thank you. Ion the instrument panel it shows the gears changing. Im confused, I didn’t know thar the electric motor would use th gears ?

Yes, because electric engine is placed between combustion engine and gearbox, so power from electric engine is delivered through the gearbox.

Electric cars do not need gearbox usually because their engines have wide range of rpm's and of course every gearbox comes with efficiency loss. The situation which we have in PHEV cars is different. When you have electric engine between combustion engine and gearbox (which is needed for combustion engine) there is a different electric engine, with different characteristic to allow synchronous work (at the same rpm) of electric and combustion engine.

Gearboxes can be built without any sense of shifting, like toyota does for example. Many car manufacturers keep the distinctive gears, because many customers still want that.

Does this car get 218 hp all time? Even if the battery is empty? Speaking on kick down , or sport mode.

Yes, it has. The battery is never empty (in the meaning that is really empty), 1% shown by the computer in reality is 10-20%.

Nice video thanks. Does anybody know if using B mode really improves the range, because there's no way I'd be bothered moving the shifter every time I'm slowing down to go into b mode then move it again for d mode. May as well have a manual at that point, is there much of a loss if you just leave it in D

If you do not have to brake, it is better (more efficient) to drive in D mode

I just got the same car 2022 and just get around 38 km on pure electric... I'm not heavy on the foot and driving in similar conditions like you, but on an avrage consuption of about 23 kWh/100km. Any idea why? Break in time..? Just been drving around 300 km.

The most important thing is how do you brake. Do you use B mode to slow down?

@@1001cars Thank you for your quick reply! I break slowly and use the regenerative mode while breaking, meaning that I dont break hard to use the "real" breakes. I usally dont, some times when I just drive in the city. Are you using B-mode while drivning in this vid?

@@joakimo6712 You can see when I use D and when I use B mode :) Usually the best way is to use D mode for driving and B mode when you have to slow down or stop.

I cannot understand how the avg energy consumption is around 16 kwh / 100 km, when the battery capscity is 13 kwh and has a maxium autonomy of around 50 km. Thank you.

Remember, that it shows driving consumption, but also do not forget about radio, screens, cooling, all other electronics which consume power. Also, when then combustion engine isnt working, main 12V battery has to be charged as well, and how do you think its charging?

Robisz fantastyczną robotę. Możesz wytłumaczyć gdzie ucieka trochę energii? Bateria 13kWh, średnia 17kWh, zasięg powinien wyjść ok 75km.

przecież masz napisane w opisie "the lithium-ion battery capacity: 13.0 kWh gross (part of it - 10.4 kWh - is available for driving)." Po prostu Skoda nie pozwala rozładować jej do 0.

@@CinosekPL Dokładnie tak. Podobnie jak w przypadku każdego innego producenta (auta) część energii jest zarezerwowana i nigdy pojemność brutto nie jest dostępna dla użytkownika. Dodatkowo część energii (względem deklarowanych przez Skodę 10,4) ucieka przez temperaturę, która była stosunkowo niska w trakcie testu

@@fedor4990 Zużycie prądu przez elektronikę pokładową (reflektory, klimatyzacja itd.) liczone jest do ogólnego zużycia prądu. Owszem, wyłączenie klimatyzacji poprawiłoby nieco zasięg, pewnie o około 1-2 km w tych warunkach

Once the battery has ran out, if you didn’t charge the car at home, how much can the petrol engine really recharge the battery ?? How quick ?? And at what fuel consumption??

@@1001cars Being a taxi driver myself I would like to know if it’s worth having a hybrid car I own a Vauxhall insignia diesel and I can get 760 miles per tank full. So I was wondering maybe if I go hybrid petrol if I constantly recharge the battery it might be better off

@@francescolanza668 It is pointless to use plug-in hybrid car when you want to charge the battery using combustion engine. Probably for your purposes it is better to get normal hybrid car, not plug-in hybrid.

@@francescolanza668 I cannot answer you because as I said: it depends on many factors. Charging the battery in a city would take even 3-6 hours, on highway it can be much faster, but again: it depends on how you drive, speed, traffic, etc. And again: charging the battery from ICE in a city is just wasting your money (spent on a petrol)

Dude, proper electric range OUTSIDE of the city? If you ask about it you don't understand the sense of Plug-In Hybrid car. Driving at higher speed using electric energy is not optimal! Old TSI engines yes. I'm owning "the last" 1.4 TSI 125KM for 5 years now, not a single drop of oil to add between service intervals (yearly).
