Just a note: ".CUR" is not a Cursor file. It's meant to abbreviate "Current" as in "current firmware loaded on the SKR board".

Funny you should say this in my early tutorials in SKR v1.3, someone said it's a cursor file and windows identified the extension as such.

@@EdwardBraiman Windows says its a cursor file, because that what the .cur extension is defined as in Windows. It is actually meant as an abbreviation of current in this instance.

I understood this TFT35 uses UART. Does it conflicts with USB connected devices such Octopi/Octoprint? In other words, can I have a 3D printer with Octoprint and TFT35 working parallely, or do I have choose and use only one at a time? I'd like to have this TFT35 because it looks great, but I wouldn't give up on octoprint because of it... Any comment?

Thanks for the Video a couple of idiot questions, At 3:00 in, you plug the cable to the board, I think you are plugging all 5 wires into the main boards TFT port, but judging by the stripes on the cable you are plugging the reset line in separately last - that puzzles me as I could understand the 5V line last, but not reset. Secondly did I miss any configuration of the display in Marlin ? Is it automatic or do I have to enable REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER or similar ? Finally why is the serial port set to 0 here when all your other videos use -1 ? Many thanks Bob

@@EdwardBraiman Thanks Edward - No rush I pick up the SKR tomorrow and theTFT is still en route form China.- I found the BTT GITHUB site and the original BTT SKR video after my original post and that shows the same plugging order - as an old hardware engineer the order confuses me - for ESD protection I would have plugged 5V last. Flex Garcia below says uncomment FGD but I can't find that define does he mean #define FSMC_GRAPHICAL_TFT ? The BTT video also shows enabling SERIAL_PORT as 0 and SERIAL_PORT_2 as 1 (though I have also seen -1, 0 elsewhere).... thanks again

Thanks but I don't fully understand, are we writing firmware to the SKR V1.3 or the TFT35 here? I have a SKR V1.3 that's already running marlin 2.0 on my CR10. It uses the original CR10 display by enabling it in the firmware. I'm trying to upgraded that setup using the TFT35 but I'm not having any luck. Ive tried changing the baud rate and the serial port along with disabling the cr10 display but I still get the no printer detected error.

It maybe your board connection or a firmware change on TFT 32. The TFT 32 runs its own firmware. I think you can see version numbers on boot. Could you check and see the version number? It might be a different flavor than what's in the video.

I have an older generation TFT screen, but the issue I have with it is that it doesn't provide much diagnostics information in case there is an error. This should be easy to fix with a custom dialog that reports the error message. Is this supported?

I've tried the old TFTs and wasn't able to get them working. I try again, but I cannot promise that they will work.

Please can you make a video, or point me where should I look, for how to Upload Marlin v.2.0.9 on SKR v.1.3 and MKS - TFT3.5 v.1.0 display version with out nob ?. I was able to compile the FW for the board using your tutorial but I am stuck on Where/What to modify to accommodate my Specific Display. I know the section for the display but I don't understand from that list what is my display. I need to change the Baud Rate for this display?. I read and watched more than 30 tutorials but they are all for different displays . Thanks and Best Regards.

Out of curiosity.... I have the TFT25 (the smaller version) that need to update/theme etc. at the same time I also have the LCD that was shipped with mine like one of your other vids. Is it possible to run both the LCD and the TFT?? I'd like to use the LCD while I am tweaking on the TFT until I'm happy with the final result.

In theory yes. I've not done both, but others have. I also have tft25, but I'm working on other install before doing tutorial. The other tutorial means with exp1 and exp2.

True. I'll be making a tutorial on tft35 v3.0, but the video and sound will be excellent. This weekend was spent updating to vscode because platformio was a pain for me and end users.

The last pin I think is reset. If you trace pins on silk screen of TFT they will match silk screen on SKR board. Hope this helps.

Does using this, compared to lcd screen use up more or less from flash memory? I am struggling with skr mini e3 and it´s 256kb memory size when picking up functions from config...

Just speed, but new firmware for TFT may allow for setting change to 250000.

Great video, thanks for the info. From my side, I have the TFT24 version. I still do have the message 'no printer attached'. I Asked BigTreeTech and they sent me their firmware. This this one, I do not have the message anymore. Nevertheless, I need to modify Marlin to be adjust for my printer which is not possible the firmware.bin file. Do you have any idea what is impacting this message in the code from Marlin (I used the same value than yours). Regards

Try doing file compare on the version of Marlin they sent and Marlins current release to see if you can find the differences.

Bob Carter by using marlin from github the one for the skr 1.3, I do have the issue anymore. I compared with the one from the official website and honestly I did not find the root cause with the original. Best for you is to do your modification on marlin from github instead of downloading the version from Marlin website 🤔. I have now another issue with bltouch. The leveling works perfect but when it is completed it does not want to print. If I do not perform leveling with bltouch, then I can print. Very strange

The supplied link for Amazon for this board says no sellers for it and we don't know when it will be back. A dead link? Did they come out with a newer version since this video? (edit: Looks like there is now a 3.0 V of this www.biqu.equipment/collections/lcd/skr-v1-3 ). Btw, I had a catastrophic failure with their SKR V1.3 that should not have happened and that is I accidentally shorted the HE1 heater cartridge wires together and it blew out a choke part and the main CPU (the skid mark was huge). Basically the 10 amp fuse will not protect the board in such incidents. I bought another but due to that it damaged my 12864 LCD panel so I am needing a new one.

Follow the steps in the video and see if it works. I'm checking to see if it still works in the next couple of days as Marlin firmware may have changed. A couple of users discovered an issue with another tutorial for SKR pro, but SKR v1.3 still compiles without issue.

Correct. The TFT 35 is like a minicomputer using serial pins.

Which type of LCD display are you using and can you outline the changes to the Marlin firmware you changed? What version of TFT firmware are you running?

@@EdwardBraiman Hi, I have the same problem, I have an SKR V1.3 and TFT35 V2.0 I am using VScode instead of Atom but by clicking Upload on the platformIO extension it did create a new firmware, but the TFT screen still says "No printer attached!"

hi - after spending 3 weeks struggling with my slow compiling vsc, finally i got to the point where i could power on everything via octoprint and get started only to find that octoprint cant locate the serial port-----------im running everything through a pi4 so my setup is as follows: power comes in via the relay connected to the pi4, also using a buck converter to supply usb power to the pi4 - i put in the sd card with the firmware.bin, powered on the skr1.4 via octoprint, conected the printer to pi4 via usb, but octoprint cant connect as it cant locate the serial port - ANY advice would be appreciated - many thanks (using uart 2209 drivers)

First I'd not power raspberry pi via buck convert. Next I would examine SKR for serial port numbers is set to -1 in VScode. Check to see if you can connect via Windows if so, then raspberry pi should work.

Does the USB port work when you use your computer. Sometimes when I leave port at Marlin firmware defaults for serial port zero at 0 instead of -1, I see this issue.

In the playlist I should have a tutorial on how to do upgrade. I broken the tutorials up because most people only watch on average three minutes and if I did a 25 minute tutorial most people stop watching. I'm going to be recording a longer version on tft35 v2.0 for SKR pro v1.1 maybe this weekend. It's going to maybe have an extra step not in SKR 1.3/SKR 1.4.
