Great video. One thing to note is the latest Marlin renamed BOARD_BIGTREE_SKR_V1_3 to BOARD_BTT_SKR_V1_3. That's what the error message said and after changing it, it works.

Original card worked AFTER I re-formatted it. It came up FAT, not FAT32. After a new card worked, I suspected something was different, and that's all I could see. Before reformatting the original to FAT32, it would never get to the "beep" after swapping the firmware and appearing as a drive. Now, beep! and looks great. Thank you for the tutorials.

Hello Edward, I am honestly a bit lost! I always use Ramps 1.4 but now I see more and more other boards floating above the surface. of course I am a stingy Dutchman! and wants the utmost for as little money as possible. maybe you can also tell a little more about the different plates and maybe something about price range. And yes of course I understand the more power the more expensive it becomes. Kind regards from the Rotterdam area! Rob.

Well processor power aside it close to the price of a RAMPS 1.4 and is easier to wire for advanced stepper drivers. Keep in mind there are 32 bit conversion kits for RAMPS. I'll cover soon, but it's complexity will keep users guessing.

I know this is a old vid but I was wondering. Is there a way to upload firmware from the SD, TF, or USB port on the LCD screen instead of the one on the board itself? Like would a certain serial port assignment in the firmware allow this? It would make servicing the firmware much easier for those printers that have the boards enclosed to where you can not get to the ports without opening up the printer. I am currently waiting on some micro SD extenders I ordered to use to get around this issue as I use one on another printer but was curious if I could setup the printers to update firmware from my ports on the LCD screen. This thought came to mind as I am servicing my Kossel Mini and every time I want to update the firmware I have to take the print bed off.

I love your videos. They have been very helpful, but i’m having an issue. I’ve compiled new firmware with some changes in config.h and trying it load them on the board. First issue was the pc wouldn’t recognize the sd card. Was this just a bad card that came with the board that i’ve read so much about? Anyway, i bought a new card, copied the new bin file to the card, and off course the board didn’t update to the new bin file. I found this video and have followed it to a T and the board still will not update. Maybe i’m missing something but i don’t know what. It’s as if it boots to what is already on the board and never looks at the tf drive. Any suggestions?
@EdwardBraiman4 жыл бұрын
How big is the SD card? It has been said large SD cards have an issue. Try partitioning root of card down to triple the firmware.bin file size on root partition. If that doesn't work, return board and get a replacement. Let me know how it works out.
@BlainesGarage4 жыл бұрын
Ok, I’ve partitioned the card and it still wouldn’t boot to it. All i’ve been trying to do is make the touch screen work by changing the serial port as someone suggested to me, and now i’ve seen that you have a video for the doing the exact same thing. I thought maybe it worked like my mks genL and won’t update with the tft attached, so i ttied disconnecting the display, but no help. Now that i think about it, it flashed from the pc thru usb and not from a card. Being frustrated with this, I decided to update the TFT24 with the latest firmware and selected unified mode, which has been successful, but still no printer attached message. Would this work if i put the bin file on a regular sd card and put the card in the display instead of the skr board? I’m pretty clueless about all of this, but learning. Thank you for your quick reply.

Watch my tutorial on tft35 firmware update. Remember to use unified code as they made a change to firmware and icon will not work otherwise.

Edward Braiman . I just want to thank you for your help and give you an update. I have resolved the issue. I haven’t used the format function for several years. When i first tried to format the card, FAT32 was not an option. Only exFAT. Sounded close enough to me. After that didn’t work i i tried to partition the card, partition, or “shrink” was not an option. I learned that i had to format the card in ntfs in order to partition it. Then i was able to re-format it to FAT. I just didn’t hit the drop-down to see that FAT32 was now an option and formatted it in exFAT and that’s why it wasn’t working after partitioning it smaller. TL/DR: The card needs to be formatted in FAT32 and FAT32 only supports 32gb or smaller partitions or cards. Larger cards need to be formatted to NTFS to allow partitioning. Thanks again. Keep the videos coming. Subscribed.

Which operating system? Does a new device appear when you connect via USB? Do you have the jumper jumped in 5v pin position?

Both computers run win 7 professional. 1. For the loose SKR, I moved the jumper to allow power from the usb. Both computers recognize a new drive when I connect the usb cable. 2. The SKR in the printer gets its power from the printers' power supply. I have only tried connecting this board with the laptop due to locations of the printer and desktop. In this case, the laptop recognizes a new drive when I plug in the usb cable. 3.
