My beautiful Mum played this song over and over again in the nineties, she absolutely loved Skunk Anansie - she died a couple of years ago, unexpectedly in her 40’s and when I heard this song on the breakfast show, I crumbled. The one song that I go to, that will always be ours. Stunning x

Most underrated artist of the 90s. What a voice! This song has a James Bay feel about it. It's absolutely class. 👌🏼

Never gets enough credit for that voice. Awesome band. So glad they came back.

Very powerful song. When i listen to this, i interpret it as an elder self speaking to my younger self and the latent aspects of the wounded child that still exists within me. Great song.

Skin’s voice is exquisite. You can hear her operatic training. How many rock front-people can claim to have sung live with the late Pavarotti? Skunk Anansie are part of the fabric of 90’s Indie Pop Rock music and culture.

Poignant lyrics ... if those lyrics were meant for me , the only man that mattered... - I would and am crying inside . Sadly I never as happy as I was with my shining high .. your wisdom , intelligence , humour , shine, depth and soul whilst around and delivering to all , I became like small girl looking up .. like when we first met . Brave vulnerability is what I needed, a two way trust ... along with a deepened sense of self love , maturity and love of all .. especially to those that mattered . I lacked , you gave freely .. I never truly never delivered - especially on that fatal day . Be brave and be free , find a kinder deeper heart .. and I will always be alone , calmer and kinder in time . You cleansed and deepened my soul like no other . Wish I had only know - what it is truly love deeply , without gain and unconditionally . So I could carried and loved you truly . My loss is your freedom . I will watch from a far . Yes to be cradled I would jump right back , right now . Good bye my only true and free soul .

Amazing how both this song and your words resonate so much with how I’m feeling right about now

Skunk Anansie aren't my preferred genre by a long stretch, but there's a handful of songs that exemplify the mid-to-late 90s to me and this is one of them. It's a great song, sang from the heart. And my god does Skin sound as good now as she ever did.

Years after...teenage time in summer, no worry about nothing...time when we had ears feeded with real things on radio. And think is one of the best versions of this song, Deborah is perfect.
