This time on THE IDENT REVIEW, we're waving goodbye to PICK and ushering in the new era of SKY MIX! But will it's new idents live up to the channel's legacy? Or will it be a continuation of a disappointing trend we've seen in sequences recently, where little effort is shown at all?
The Ident Review began in May 2018 and since has spawned over 100 episodes and even a spin-off show, the Ident Review Extra! It remains a firm AMTV favourite to this day!

I agree that the premise is interesting, and whilst the idents are pretty captivating themselves, I do wish myself that there was more done with this concept. The launch of Sky Mix practically inverted things for Sky's free-to-view scene. When Pick TV launched, it left Sky News as the sole channel on Freeview with the Sky name. As of now, however, it's Challenge that's the sole Sky channel on Freeview WITHOUT the company's branding.

Didn’t we already rebranded this one? Sky Mix was originally the prototype name of Sky2 (former name of Sky Replay) in 2004-05.

the first sky mix became sky two (now sky replay) so yes, the name is back, but the channel is different

Probably this is Basically Sky 3 but I was too surprised that Sky Rebranded Pick as Sky Mix.

This little bit at 1:51 introduced this american to the fact that Sky is the UK equivalent to NBC/Xfinity, also owned by Comcast, which actively partners with CBS/Paramount/Viacom and ABC/Disney for multiple channels

I wish Sky would redo its entire channel branding, the badge type thing they use is tired and it looks straight out of 2011 with the gloss effect that used to be synonymous with Apple, until they changed it, y’know, over 10 years ago… Say what you will about the BBC changing its iconic logo, but at least they’re trying unlike Sky who just recycle the same dated, bland style

Always value all you have to share on idents you watch 💖 I do like the idea behind these idents but would agree, slowing them down to really appreciate each landscape would be a plus!

The idents are visually appealing. I doubt that i will watch sky mix any more or less than Pick. Great video

You Should do The Review of Channel 4 2015-17 Idents Directed by Johnathan Glazer. I forgot how bizarre they were

I do like the idents, the backgrounds look beautiful, but there should be at least some variety like different ways of them spinning or something. The speed is also a bit much, they should slow it down a bit imo.

Prefer Sky Mix over Pick. The 'Pick' name made no sense whatsoever.

It’s choosing between two stupid names though, imo. To me, Sky Mix sounds like an MTV/MuchMusic/The Box type channel, it is definitely better than Pick which instead of communicating the wrong thing, communicates nothing but “huh?”

The only thing I've really watched on Sky Mix/Pick is "Nothing to Declare". I can't help but think that "Mix" sounds too much like "Max". They could've had "Sky More" or something else. The only thing that Sky Mix has going for it in the ways of programmes are the imported shows from HBO and numerous repeats of Nothing to Declare.

I agree. Concept is cool, but the interest just wears off quickly. Also, I don’t watch Pick (as it was called before it was renamed to Sky Mix) a lot. I’m not a fan of the shows the channel airs.
