Excellent video, like!

Both kinds of telescope are owesome. I have refractor, reflector and catadioptric telescopes, everyone does it's job as I want.

One disadvantage of a refractor you didn't mention (in my opinion the most important one) is the unwieldly and crazy positions the eyepiece can get into, and the higher altitude the worse it gets. Having to crouch and contort to reach the part o the sky with the best seeing hardly brings out the best observations or observer enjoyment. Refractors are borderline instruments of torture if your older or have a bad back, whereas a Newtonian with the focuser near the top of the tube means with my Newts I can usually stand upright or at worse lean slightly. As for diffraction spikes I love them apart for the one that always seem to try and hide Rigel's companion! Newtonians Rule!

I have a reflector and a refractor. I have to collimate the reflector and take the back of the optical tube regularly to clean the mirror. Lot's of maintenance I do not have to do on my refractor.

Great content Kevin. Always informative! I have two doublet refractors (61 mm and 110 mm) and have been happy with the colour correction on both. Just got a C8 SCT for lunar and planetary. One potential disadvantage of a newt is the durability of the mirror coatings. I don't have the option to have mirrors recoated locally, at least not at a reasonable price. And it is hard to estimate how long coatings will last depending on climate, pollution, storage condition, cleaning regimen, etc. Something like the 130PDS or the new 150 Quattro seem like very interesting beginner imaging tubes, but if you're unlucky you might have to recoat your mirrors every few years, so perhaps a small apo refractor is a safer choice?

I have both when I use my small refractor it is a wolking on a park. When I use my big ass newt I am like prepering a war but man I can really go close and they almost same f ratio. So if you are a tryharder go for it. My refractor is like a vacation.
