I was a lineman in Southeast Texas. We had a sky crane like this that was setting metal 2 pole H - structures for our 138 k v transmission line that several twister's from a hurricane that damaged several structures. It was an awesome sight to see. God bless them all for a job well done❣️❣️❣️

I'm a senior researcher at Heimkeeper Co., Ltd.Our company has an idea to reduce propeller noise and vibration of helicopters and drones.We're done with the experiment.We have applied for a utility model and a patent As a result of several experiments with small propellers, the current noise and vibration reduction effect is about 30%.Looking forward good news from you soon

I've done this before being taken up by the long line and it was FUN!!! Only difference was is that I wasn't strapped to a safety harness. I was holding on to a 250' longline and my feet were between the rungs of the hook. It was at the end of the day of helicopter logging. The the guy you call a hooker hooks up logs to the hook that's suspended 250' down opposite of the helicopter. We were on a very steep hill high in the mountains. The original plan was to have the helicopter land and we would get in and be flown out to the landing but it was too steep for the helicopter to land so plan B was to get on the hook and ride out.

@@ShortArmOfGod Correction it's like walking on a 2 lane road (no sidewalk) while having all vehicles travel constantly at 50mph or higher (NO SLOWING DOWN). You're more likely to die from an accident with a 600lb blade spinning at 500rpm than you are from walking a sidewalk.

@@mjfirthau nope the fuel tanks are in the fuselage in the forward and aft sections and the helicopter burns 500 gallons an hour so the flight time for them is quite short , they have to refuel after doing one lift.

Do Pilots with a lot of age and experience do this type of Flying or do they think it's too dangerous and prefer a different type of flying?
@crazyralph6386
@crazyralph6386 Жыл бұрын
Experience plays the main factor. There are pilots out there who were lucky enough to start early in their careers, and built a lot of time doing this type of work(precision long line) who could probably strap themselves into a S-64 and have no problem? I know one hydro pilot in his late 40’s with over 10K hours, who could put anyone to shame with a 100ft long line, but would much rather fly a light helicopter(AS-350) single pilot, than a heavy with a big crew.

I'd would anyways especially having to do those jobs.& It saves hassles of having to clean injectors more frequently that way to. And saves on oil burning consumption to use in the oil before changing it first for at least 15 minutes when warmed up.

Check your research. This is probably an Erikson, not a Sikorsky. Erikson acquired the type certificate 1992.
@5thGenNativeTexan
@5thGenNativeTexan Жыл бұрын
Sort of, depending on how you look at it. True, Erikson acquired the type certificate in 1992, manufacturing them under the company name Erickson Air-Crane. Interestingly though, the FAA still registers them as Sikorky's... even though this one, manufactured in 2011, an S-64E (N4037S), was manufactured by Erickson, the FAA registration still classifies it as a Sikorsky, probably because that's how the type certificate reads.
