Claiming a hypothetical "if the UK didn't export gold..." they do so argument over. 3. How is the UK supposed to export to the rest of the world when they're currently inside the common EU market, ie the rest of world pay higher prices than they would if they had deals with the UK. 4. How about we consider decline of British industries since the UK joined the single market, ie free access for firms to outsource in the EU and then wonder why our domestic production and hence exports have fallen, instead of blaming it, yet again, on brexit Again the British media cooking the books in terms of Brexit and only talk about one side of the argument

That's a slightly odd way to phrase the situation; trading gold is a perfectly valid form of trade, it doesn't so much confuse the picture as impact upon it. While the question is raised, it's not answered, we don't know whether Brexit will or won't affect this market.
