Other than the society/culture thing, I think the "guys always approaching girls" is also a biological thing. A lot of species also have that "males approaching females first" action. I think it is part of our instinct too as biological organisms though of course, we are different from them because we are conscious beings and we can choose to do whatever we want. :)
