Skyrim is a game of many locations. Bustling towns, quiet forests, The Elder Scrolls 5 has it all. And some of Skyrim's most iconic locations are its dungeons. Large structures, loaded with enemies, bosses, puzzles and other challenges, dungeons have long been a staple of medieval-fantasty RPGs and players are very familiar with them. Despite so many existing, some of Skyrim's dungeons are especially unique and offer a particularly exciting expirence. So today we'll be taking a look at five more of the spookiest and most interesting dungeons in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

It’s sad when the average person in Skyrim needs several friends and a few weeks to explore a dungeon and they often don’t even survive. Meanwhile the Dragonborn clears eight dungeons in a matter of hours with a magic fork

I think this definition needs some contextual definitions, it would make more sense as a phrase given necromancy in Skyrim. I mean, you can murder a dragon for example but they're not really dead till you've eaten their soul.

When I did Potema's catacombs, it took me a good half an hour to figure out how to get ENTER... Don't know if my sense of direction is just that bad, or if Potema was yanking my chain. "Is it in here? No. Marker says go outside. Is it out here? No. Marker says inside. Is it up here? No. Marker says down below. Is there a door here? No. Marker says 'middle of that wall'. That's it! Originally, I was going to fight her because it was a quest... Now, I'm going to do it because I'm pissed that it's taken me this long and I can't even find the entrance. It's either that or I'm gonna murder that snipe from Radiant Raiment."

Tip for next time: If you ever can't find the entrance or where you're supposed to go, clairvoyance is your friend. Works in all dungeons inside and outside as long as you have a marker in.

@@paoloantoniozambranamagri1405 I think I tried that, and if I recall, it went "through" the wall. That was an odd dungeon. Also, after beating her and leaving the dungeon, I still saw the worst in my journal. I picked up whatever she dropped, but didn't see her skull. As you can't get back in after dropping down, my choices were, fail to complete or go back through the dungeon com the front. I reloaded the save just after defeating her.

You probably know that if use a calm spell on bandits (and most humanoid enemies) you'll get the "Ugh I never asked you to magic me!" response. If you however use it on a forsworn you seem to get a different response (something along the lines of) - "I won't be violated by some half-septim magician" Edit: Alain Dufont also says something different, along the lines of "well you must have had all the annoying gods on your side to make it this far"

Another possibility me and my skyrim buddies have discussed with about the temple of Crib was that it was some sort of worshiping temple for a dwemer king, as some cultures had temples to kings (I believe south american culture were most prominent for this) meant strictly for people to place their offerings and gifts to appease a kings wishes or requests and was used as a sort of treasure vault of sorts. It seems highly plausible for the fact that, like you said, the dwemer worshiped no god. However, my buddy zeke piped up that maybe it was a temple to a forgotten snow elf god that the dwemer built for the snow eleves as part of the "refuge" deal they had with the dwemer. Both are just theories I thought youd might like to hear, but idk really.

Thats what ive been trying to figure out... there is a creation club add on that adds the sunder and wraithguard quest to it.... but i dont think thats canon since the dwemer disappeared when kagrenac used the tools on the heart of lorkhan thus making them all disappear.... and like you said the dwemer don’t believe in gods but “prefer reason and logic-vivec”. So the temple of xrib is an anomaly to me.

I remember my first time playing Skyrim back in 2011. I was doing the college of winterhold as my first questline and was around level 10. I was heading to Saarthal and on my way their I noticed this hole in the ground and saw that it was a cave entrance. Loving dungeon crawling I said "sure, I can put Saarthal on hold" and jumped in. It was only then that I realized I couldn't get back out, so I started pushing through to find a way out. It was then that I realized that this dungeon was absolutely swarming with Falmer that were all 2 or 3 times my current level. I can say without a doubt that my first time doing sightless pit is probably the toughest challenge I've ever done in an Elder Scrolls game... or any game for that matter.

The Dwemer altar just above the outside of the Sightless Pit location is fun, with a unique twist thrown in. When you check the inventory of the skeleton on the altar, loot all of it, and the other skeletons on the ground will resurect and attack you. After defeating them, and the skeleton that you first looted, check that skeletons inventory again. There will be a book called The Gates of Oblivion in the inventory...again. Each time you exit and enter the inventory, the book will be there for you to take. This is on my Legendary Edition copy of the game for Xbox 360. The unending copies of the book are very funny, because there are unending gates of Oblivion, too.

I’ve seen the Sightless Pit, and usually try to avoid it. I’m not a Falmer fan, and I’ve seen that it’s 1 Way. But, I MIGHT make an attempt at it in a playthrough someday. Either a stealth vamp with illusions, a stealth archer, or (if I’m insane) heavy armored Shield Mage.

Potema reminds me of the Death Knight, Lord Soth, a favorite character of mine from Dragonlance AD&D. A powerful undead creature commanding an army of various undead and planing to march on the capital city.

I'll just say that how Nate told that story was very bare bones and misleading. Read the Wolf Queen books 1-8, they are probably my favorite elder scrolls books. You wont regret it.

Has anyone used a calming spell or the Imperial ability on the party excavating the ruins? Also, that temple in the last section is probably named after its location rather than a god. The Falmer probably lack the ability to recognize gods and are just going through the motions of whorship.

It's not true that the Potema catacombs are only accessible after starting the quest. I got in when I was only around 2nd or 3rd level, and I hadn't even started the Wolf Skull Cave quest. What happened was: I was caught stealing in the temple, so I ran down to the cellar to hide. One of the priests came down looking for me and opened the gate to the catacombs. I can't remember if I killed the priest or not, but I ran into the catacombs to escape justice. I didn't get too far before I was killed, but as far as I went everything was exactly as it was if I had gotten there the normal way. Potema spoke to me and everything.

"People eating elves" made me think of someone eating the Keebler elves. Then, I realized it was People-Eating Elves (with an adjective-joining hyphenation) and then I immediately thought of the Falmer. Damned, soulless savages.

My current playthrough had my first experience with the Sightless Pit thanks to the Creation Club's Sunder & Wraithguard. I play with the various Wench mods, so Falmer dungeons are especially dangerous and I would never consider them without at least 2 followers. I actually had to go through the dungeon twice because I couldn't find the entrance to the Sightless Vault. I might have enjoyed the dungeon a lot more if I weren't terrified of every Falmer encounter spawning Chaurus Hunters and Reapers alongside Forgotten Wenches.

I honestly can’t remember if I ever did that Hagraven Dungeon. I think I did because I remember having a staff by that name, I’m not 100% for sure though. All the others I know for sure I did. The last one on your list Sightless Pit was really cool. I remember the first time I entered it. I was afraid of what might happen lol

I have another one for your next 10 tiny details video, and this one actually made me mad. So ive been going through this play through and reading the books as youve made me realize how dope they are. So I'm going through the sewer to Goldenglow Estate for the Thieves Guild, and I go into cell down there. In there you'll find the Skill Book "Wulfmare's Guide To Better Thieving" which gives you an increase to pickpocket. All well and good. But as I read it, he starts to list his bonafides to write the book, and winds up saying this; "Maybe you heard about that heist in Mournhold, wheen Queen Bereziah's coronation crown went missing? Or perhaps the tale of the Elder Scroll gone missing from White Gold Tower reached your ears. Thats right... it was yours truly." Now I dont know about Berenziah's crown, but I know for a FACT that I (and anybody that played TES4), as the Hero of Kvatch, stole that Elder Scroll. This punk is taking credit for my greatest heist. Idk who Wulfmare is, but I better never find him. Thanks for listening and shout me out if you use this one in the video. One love. Appreciate the channel.
