The fact that everyone takes a break on this game, and then always comes back proves it’s a masterpiece.

One thing you missed about the Rieklings: You don't have to chose one as a companion. If you run the quest to become their Chief, then just leave without taking one along, a whole group of them will randomly show up when you are in a big fight, and join in on your side. I've had them show up during a fight with a dragon, and inside a dungeon in a boss fight. It's pretty funny when they are all hooting at me and each other.

Rieklings are the best that you can get, you can armor him and give the weapon that he can uses Also, if you have any children adopted, there's a dialog that he say "that's your pet? Wow he looks tough"

I honestly find J'Zargo's cocky attitude to be hilarious, especially when you tell him not everything is a game. "That's because you are losing do badly you cannot see it."

I thought I helped the Nords, but somehow, I ended up with Stinky as a follower. We had many adventures together, but he disappeared when I went back to the mainland and eventually I forgot about him. Several trips back and forth to Solstheim later, I was out in the wilderness when a strange Reikling ran up to me. I pulled my weapon, but he didn't attack. Imagine my surprise to realize, after all those years, it was my very own little friend, Stinky!

You forgot to mention: The Rieklings also randomly assist you in the world in fairly decent numbers, as well as being particularly strong with their melee. Wonderful little things! 😁

Kharjo was always my go to follower, however in my latest play through I’ve been doing a quick save only run, and made a mistake and quick saved after a big fight. I realized that he wasn’t by my side and searched around. It turned out he had died during the fight. So naturally, I picked up his armor, and took it home. I placed it on a mannequin, and placed the gold I inherited from him, along with the letter, in the chest just underneath. It never felt right to have another follower beside me so now I’m a lone wolf.

I usually stick with the friend zoned Serana.

Bethesda should have Nate voice a Daedric Prince in Elder Scrolls 6. Perhaps Hermaeus Mora? I'll be pissed if they dont include an Easter egg where some character says the line "murdered to death".

My favorite part about choosing the Rieklings is that if you get into a fight after you become their chief, there is a chance that a war party of Rieklings will run in and back you up (even if you aren’t on Solsthiem)

I'm glad you brought that to my attention, as in all these years I have never once paid a mercenary to join me, assuming they were just generic NPC's for people who can't be bothered to get the free quest-related followers. He's been sitting in my version of The Bee and Barb for over seven years now...

Also, by giving a Reikling a single arrow, they will begin throwing that type of arrow as a spear.. equipping them with a single Daedric arrow makes them immensely valuable in combat.

I used the reiklings to level up the ebony blade. Quick and easy way to get a lot of loyal “friends” to sacrifice.

Your Skyrim vids are such a relaxing comfort. It's wild that I'm still obsessed with this game like 8 years later, but I'm happy you're still making content for it!

Honestly, every time the topic of followers comes up, I have to talk about my first time climbing the 7k steps with Lydia. She just about became the gods damned protagonist when she was downed by the troll, I was about to be killed and she stood back up just in time to kill it as it was swinging the killing blow at me. Needless to say, she was the first character I married in the game too.

I like how Nate implies that human meat makes you stronger

Finally some Marcurio love. He's been my favorite (non-mod) follower since my first playthrough. I still have him with me in this modded playthrough, but we have Inigo with us as well. He's hilarious, and as you mentioned in the video, his AI seems better than most followers. Also, he's a candidate for marriage, or you can make him a steward at one of your properties.

my favorite thing about rieklings is the fact that they can use staffs, and more specifically, summoning staffs. give your follower a summoning staff too and when combat breaks out you have an instant army.

Faendal has always been my go to if I want to gain Levels fast. The fact that he is a companion and someone who can teach the Dragonborn in the ways of Archery up to lvl 50 means that you can pay him, and ask your money back, which often leads to the archery skill having icreased by 25 points or more just by doing the Golden Claw quest

Kharjo is a personal favorite of mine. In addition to being a fantastic melee fighter, he's a passable archer and an absolute menace if you give him a staff. Plus, he's got a high sneak skill that won't give you away on stealth missions/builds.

Personal favourite follower is Belrand(winking skeaver in solitude). He was my main follower on my first ever non DB play-through. Together we joined the Stormcloaks and fought in the civil war. During the attack on Whiterun he was killed. I was fighting and just as i beat my opponent I turned around to see Belrand get decapitated... still to this day best part of 9 years later I remember it... I always pay him a visit when I am in solitude now lmao

You forgot to mention Marcurio is technically a merchant and if you marry him you can periodically get money from him, and if he can't carry anything else, you can sell to him b/c he sells out of his inventory (he can basically carry infinitely)

Well, technically...I think Rieklings do eat humans albeit more out of necessity. They seem to eat anything they can get their tiny grubby hands on to.

I just stumbled upon maybe my new favorite early-game follower: Rayya, the Housescarl of Falkreath. First she's wearing a Alik'r Hood as long as you don't give her headgear, looking incredibly cool; and (as long as you don't give her a shield) she's dual-wielding scimitars and becomes quite powerful with her attacks. She allegedly goes down in boss fights earlier than Lydia because she isn't blocking, but I really haven't felt any of that - and she makes just so much more damage. I was searching for a Dwemer ruin during the "Lost to the Ages" quest, got attacked by a dragon and some DB Cultists at the same time, fought them off, then went searching for her and discovered that the fight had awaken Krosis and while I was busy fighting the Cultists she just took care of Krosis by herself

I can't believe you put Mercutio at the number five spot. He is so much better than that. But because i complained on the last video, I'll thank you for at least adding him to this list.

Inigo will always be the best follower mod out there.

Marcurio is unbelievably strong. He summons familiars. He raises thralls. He uses destruction. He can take down dragons by himself. I’m surprised he hasn’t been nerfed years ago. He’s that strong.

You forgot to mention that rieklings will equip armor that you give them. It doesnt show up on their model, but they get the armor points. Mine has a full set of enchanted dragon scale armor ^^

I almost always use Kharjo as a follower. I love him so much. It's just sad you can't marry him in the vanilla game. Him, Jzargo and Serana are my go to followers.

@TheEpicNate315 Something funny I have experienced with Kharjo that I didn't see mentioned: Whenever I have Kharjo with me and drops to 25--30 percent health. He will put away whatever weapon he is using and outright bail, running until the fight is over, at which point he will walk back. Seeing this makes it especially funny when he declares to dead enemies "What a coward, didn't even put up a proper fight"

Kharjo is also very special in that he can... TRAVEL IN TIME During the flashback in which the dovahkiin learns the shout dragonrend, there’s a possibility that Kharjo travels with in the flashback too 😂 I don’t know if it’s only Kharjo that can do that or if any follower has a chance to time travel but it was the only time I ever saw it and it was epicc

Marcurio is a badass, I recruited him when I was already quite the high lvl, back then it automatically scaled to my character's level. Dude decimated everything.

Uthgerd was actually my first follower when I started playing, so seeing her on this list definitely cheered me up a bit

The Apprentice to Nelos in Tel Mythrin is a pretty good mage. He uses powerful dustruction spells. Uthgerd was also one of my first followers in my first playthrough, I've kept her as one of the first followers to get apart from Marrcuiro in new playthroughs.

Riekling Warrior with a great sword was an awesome tank for my cleric run!

Regarding the Riekling as follower, here's what they say on uesp.net: " If you have a follower, you may need to dismiss them before being able to recruit a Riekling. Quickly dismissing your follower, then adding the Riekling, and finally rehiring your follower is an effective workaround." Might be worth trying.

First caravan I just happened to see off in the distance and level 8 and he was in it! I was so happy!
