I think Aura Whisper is especially useful in Falmer caves or in unfamiliar areas. Plus doing it while prison escape is useful too

Clear skies shout actually counters Alduins Meteor Shower Shout by dispersing it.

Aura whisper easily my most used shout, massive help to see what’s around the corner sneaking about with knife in hand

Clear Skies dispels Alduin's Meteor shout too, making those fights easier. It's also useful for survival based mods such as Frostfall. You can use Clear Skies to make the weather less harsh, therefore making survival a bit easier.

Some of these shouts are helpful for characters that don't use magic at all

Aura Whisper: detect life that allows you to see undead and automatons. Useful to plan stealth takedowns or infiltration. Kyne's Peace: keeps your horse from either playing hide and seek everytime you get in a fight, or climbing a damn tower to fight an archer Dismay: I agree, the only way to make it useful is to go out of your way to find each word before reaching its effective level. Would have been nice if it were affected by illusion perks Throw Voice: same effect as shooting an arrow to call enemy attention, but you wont be wasting your precious daedric arrows and if all three words are used, it has no cooldown (makes no sense). It would have been better if using more words extended the duration of the distraction and from how far enemies can hear it, follow it up with frenzy when youve attracted enough enemies Clear Skies: removes the meteor shower while fighting Alduin and staggers all humanoid enemies as if using lvl2 Unrelenting Force. Also not everyone plays on pc and even if they do, not everyone uses console commands. Some of us like to roleplay and become immersed, you know. I cant believe you made a list of useless shouts and didnt mention the worst of all. Disarm: same problem as Dismay, requires you to learn the words before reaching the point where its no longer effective, and even when it does affect them, they will instantly pick up and re-equip their weapons or draw another from their inventory. When Draugr use this shout on me my weapon flies all over the place, forcing me to reload my save if i cant find my weapon, making me hate this shout even more because its only useful against the player.

The reason Kyne’s Peace is actually one of the best shouts is it practically eliminates the stupid “you cannot fast travel when enemies are nearby” thing

Clear skies becomes one of THE most lifesaving and best shouts when using the frostfall mod. Was trapped in the snowy tundra between winterhold and dawnstar in a blizzard. Shout literally saved me from becoming a McDonald's frozen yoghurt.

Aura Whisper is one of my favorite shouts for my stealthy character, especially in dungeons. It helps you to see which Draugers are gonna wake up, and you can stealth kill them.

Aura Whisper: Strictly better detect life that last a long time, has a short cooldown, is easier to acquire, doesn't require switching out your weapon, reveals damn near every enemy in the dungeon with a single button press, and doesn't have the crazy magicka cost. Kyne's Peace: Keeps your horse nearby, also useful when walking into a spriggan lair. Clear Skies: Gameplay isn't everything. Aesthetics are important too. If I don't like the rain, I now don't have to worry about the rain. Meanwhile, Elemental Fury literally doesn't work if your weapon has an enchantment.

In my opinion there isn’t any “useless” shouts it’s just how you use them

I would argue that clear skies is actually one of the most effective shouts in the game. Using just the first part of the shout staggers enemies 100% of the time, and has like a 3 second cool down. You can essentially stun lock enemies all while smacking them down. That’s how I beat Miraak the first time lmao

One thing I love about the Frostfall mod is that it makes Clear Skies a good utility shout. Since rain really makes you colder in that mod, having clear skies makes moving cross country a lot easier.

The funny thing is that these shouts in a pen and paper RPG format are really powerful

Wow. Aura whisper is actually one of my favorites. It's very handy when you're not trying to engage in battles. I prefer stealth kills.

Kyne’s Peace is an amazing shout. You want to know why? Remember every moment you try to fast travel, but there’s that annoying slaughter fish or two that refuse to let you leave. So what do you do? Shout it out and they should be within range for the shout to kick in and allow you to leave.

Use clear skies on enemies while in combat - makes enemies flinch like the first word of unrelenting force but takes 5 seconds to recharge. Actually pretty useful for warriors

Clear Skies is probably my favorite. I use it during storms because I use frostfall and if you're fighting a dragon that summons meteors, clear skies nullifies that.

I use aura whisper so much lmao... I constantly get lost during a quest, and I use it to see where ppl are, so I can figure out how to get there

Clear skies is incredibly usefull when you have weather overhauls, it makes the storms clear out. ive had several NPCs die from lightning strikes so i disagree on that one

I know I'm late to the party, but clear skies absolutely has a use case. When used in combat it has a similar effect to Unrelenting Force, and since using just the first word of the shout has such a short cool-down, it's really useful in combat for staggering enemies. I always use it to stagger mammoths when I'm farming for grand souls

I actually love the clear skies shout because my favorite build is a vampire. It basically allows me to never worry about daytime since whenever I get into a situation I cannot handle with crippled stats, i clear the clouds so I can see the sun and then shoot auriels bow at it. But yes, very very situational

A defense for clear skies: I feel miserable being out in bad weather even if it just my avatar in a computer game. In sny case, maybe modders have updated thease shouts to make them more useful? Could useful to look into.

Aura whisper is great when you're in a falmer cave and can't see past your nose. It's also great for detecting ambush placements of enemies for stealth and magic characters, runes become more useful for preemptive damage. It can reveal what's trying to jump you in dense forests/rough terrain and where its coming from so you can more easily engage it. It also can reveal where slaughterfish are in rivers so you won't have to spend ridiculous amounts of time wondering why you're in combat with nothing. TLFR; aura whisper lets you use your eyes when your eyes fall flat.

Clear skies is actually one of the most useful shouts in the game, as long as you only use the first word. It will cause every npc/creature to stagger regardless of size while only having like a 3 second cool down, meaning you can use it repeatedly in a fight. On top of that it’s also one of few shouts that doesn’t cause npcs to agro if you accidentally hit them.

Detecting life is really good in stealth as you know the direction they are facing, what position they are in such as sitting, leaning, sleeping. For me it is a really cool shout for stealth build with more strategy

I actually think the Clear Skies shout is pretty neat, since when you’re on top of a mountain or out in the wilderness at night or something like that, and you use the shout, you can see the northern lights and the moons. It’s honestly breathtaking every time.

Your right about majority of these shouts, but Aura Whispers is a great shout for stealth build. It comes in handy when you want to see your enemies before they see you.

Aura whisper is great for stealth characters especially if you're at a lower level and don't want to get too close to your target. Also the glowing effect makes it easier to hit a target from far distances. It can also help you find enemies in places like dwemer or drauger ruins when they're still in a coffin or in the wall and you have no way of knowing they're there until you've accidentally awakened them.

The aura whisper becomes useful when you use mods to make darker dungeons and nights.

funny, aura whisper is one of my favorite shouts in the game. it's amazing for sneak based builds or even just from a tactical stand point. knowing exactly where an enemy is, and more important what type of enemy you're dealing with in advance, can give you quite the tactical advantage and can help you deal with enemies, before they can even know you are there, which, again, makes it incredible useful for builds that want to stay out of sight. guess it's not so useful for an in your face warrior type of playstyle, whose only motto is run in and smash, but for a thief or an assassin? best shout ever. also it's incredible useful when your using lighting mods and want to see in a dungeon or something, without drawing everyones attention towards you, by running around with a torch or a floating light over your head.

To summarize the comments, Aura Whisper is good.

I remember when I used to love the distracting shout, on my stealth runs. Then a friend came along and said "So... you can shoot an arrow to the place you wants the distraction and it'll do the same" and I "Huh..." to this day.

Aura Whisper is my permanent main shout ..I'm sneak archer thief so it is the most important shout as you get to see everything around in your area

Aura whisper is a key shout for stealth archer builds. I’ve used it more then any other shout to find a remove enemies silently

Bro clear skies shout is one of the most useful shouts, the first word staggers and has insane range, combine that with a shield and paralysis enchanted sword and you have a perfect dps build.

When Alduin is still alive, "clear skies" can be used to quell his "call storm" that drops all those meteorites on you.

Aura whisper is good for two things: Searching for enemies where there's lots of twists and turns in certain areas, and seeing slaughterfish so you can kill them and then fast travel. Edit: A third use could be finding your horse if you don't have Arvaak to summon.

Detect life is good to tell if you're dead inside or not yet.

Draugr rising out of their tombs/waiting around in a blind spot while navigating catacombs and ashspawns rising from the ground the moment you pass their spot make Aura Whisper THE ABSOLUTE BEST shout in the game for people that get jumpy from these features.

I use Aura Whisper while sneaking. It naturally has the Quiet Casting and lasts longer than its cooldown. For a stealthy archer, it helps find targets when everything in the cave looks the same.
