The point of the Crimson Nirnroot quest is to encourage you to explore the entirety of Blackreack. It's basically the developers way of saying "We put lots of work into this place dammit. APPRECIATE OUR ARTISTRY!"

"Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" could have been so cool, considering that the Penatus Oculatus is literally a counter-intelligence division. They could have had you infiltrating the Thalmor, or investigating people who're rumoured to have performed the black sacrament, and the quests could have different restrictions like "don't kill anyone" or "don't be seen" It might have actually given a reason for the speech skill to exist.

My least favorite guild was the one where you join, do some quests, get betrayed by a prominent member, then become the leader... oh wait... is this all of them?

When I finished the Bard's College quest line for the first time, I honestly thought there was supposed to be more, and that all of those fetch quests were just a warm up. I spent a half hour tracking down everyone in the building looking for the next quest, I even left for a few levels and came back to check again. So disappointing, complete waste of time

"Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" was really a shame. You first come across it in such a fun way: Kill someone in the room? Hmmm. And than you get excited that the game actually acknowledged your genie logic! Aaand you then kill some assassins and get paid. No extended espionage plotline to figure out who the Dark Brotherhood are or how they work. No set of quests tracking down the location of their sanctuary. Hell, put one of the members with you on some of the quests as a plant. Have them kill an NPC theoretically important to the character in a dramatic assassination setting the seeds for revenge. Have them capture the Dragonborn forcing them to escape. And finally have a climactic showdown with whoever replaced Astrid as leader (and is possibly the new listener) maybe put in the Nightmother as some sort of metaplane section that Bethesda uses for _every_ _other_ _quest_ it seems. I'm writing a youtube comment and coming up with this shit on the fly. So much wasted potential.

I have to say, the "kill the dragon" radiant quests do often give you a shout or at least a dragon soul, so they are a little better then the other radiant quests.

I'd categorize the spiced wine quest as just a dressed-up version of the "chop wood" and "give a beggar money" quests. It's not terribly interesting but it's a quick way to get someone in the hold to like you so you can become Thane.

Having a Penitus Oculatus questline to thwart an emperor assassination attempt from the DB would have been great. Kind of like Dawngaurd or vampire.

Mods solve everything. Give us a mod list that makes Skyrim interesting.

Thoughts on each: - On the flipside, finding the stones with a guide early in the game makes basically every burial urn a veritable gold mine. - Imagine getting a horse like Shadowfax for purifying Shadowmere. Imagine getting a daily paladin summon. Imagine having radiant "rescue" quests. You could become commander of the Penitus Occulatus. HUGE waste of potential. - Most of the Rejoin quests are just "pay a bounty". I guess Bethesda wanted the College's to be different? - I'm honestly shocked we didn't get any usable powers from the Bard's College. It would have been nice to have another faction for a good character. I never know what to do as a heroic Dragonborn, so having the Bard's College as an answer would have been awesome. - I'm genuinely upset the only interaction you get with Vittoria's wedding is killing her during it. Heck, the East Empire Company would ALSO be an interesting faction to join. - I actually like A Return to Your Roots. It made Blackreach feel like more than just another Dwemer location crawling with Falmer, plus you get a cool Power from it. - "I don't know anyone who actually mines in Skyrim" *looks at my mountains of ore* Uhhhhh...... - Speaking of Dawnguard problems, no mention of how much of a slog the Forgotten Vale is? I hate getting to that part of Dawnguard because I have to resolve myself to running around this canyon for the next three hours. - I have literally never met anyone who has done Rebuilding the Blades. Clearly someone has, but everyone I've met who killed Paarthurnax reloaded a save afterwards and just stole the Blades armor. I want to slap Delphine for her arrogance. Who are you to order me around? I am the motherfucking dragonborn. Hero of Sovngarde. What the hell have YOU done to help me recently? Paarthurnax treats me like family and you boss me around like an errand boy. Fuck you. Have fun skulking around in this temple as you fade into nothing, I'm going to go meditate with my bro on speaking fire into existence with my voice.

I love killing the Dark Brotherhood because all the guards acknowledge your reputation in passing: 1. "You're the one all the guards are talking about. You went into that Sanctuary... wiped out the Dark Brotherhood! Friend, I owe you a drink." 2. "You know, I could have gone into that Sanctuary, killed all those Dark Brotherhood types. But I was... sick that day." 3. "You! You're the one who wiped out the Dark Brotherhood! All the guards are talking about it... You're a hero to us all!" And on top of a bad-ass rep, no more random assassins harry you on the road. Neat :D

To be open I actually like the Bards college introduction quest by itself. A Cool dungeon lead by a ghost of the bard, followed by re writing the poem and a festival. It is just what happens after that's the problem.

2:56 caught me off guard

Some of those radiant quests (like Evette San's spiced wine request) are there to help you become a Thane in the city. You have to help x-number of people in each Hold (and sometimes have to buy property), so giving Berit's ashes to Runil or taking Banning's spiced dog food up to the Markarth kitchens are there to help you do that. They aren't meant to be "rewarding", per se, but help put you a step along the way.

"The Paarthurnax Dilemma" should never have been a mod that needed to be made. Because Bethesda masquerades as an RPG developer, that *_CHOICE_* and *_PLAYER AGENCY_* should have been in the vanilla game from Day 1. Yes, I'm still angry and salty af about that bullshit! To be fair, collecting the Crimson Nirnroot in a single specific place isn’t that bad. It’s a unique scavenger hunt, and only a few are really “hidden”. It’s a callback to how difficult it was to complete the Nirnroot quest in Oblivion. It even feature the (dead) same character that you collect nirnroot for. And the reward is definitely worth it, saving you lots of time gathering other ingredients. It’s an investment in Alchemy.

Killing Astrid wasn't about the quest reward, it was about the note on the assassin that attacked me, signed by Astrid.

Something I found out recently after 8 years of playing; you can swing your pickaxe like a melee attack to mine ore. You can also use elemental fury or duel wield perks to mine faster

Tbh I liked the Crimson Nirnroot quest. But only because it forced me to explore blackreach, which ended up being very rewarding.

You can get the Blade of Woe either way just loot Astrid’s body in the abandoned shack after you kill her.

For a college of winter hold quest you only learn 3 mandatory spells. The first random one you get to enter the college assuming your speech wasn't high, the lesser ward from the lesson, and frostbite to use on the dwemer machine. How did they ever make you the arch mage master of 3 spells

Oh God the Mage Guild Quests.... Intrigue, Spell Creation, Lore, Competitive Environment, School Houses for Different ARTS!! We got None of that. Just the Typical Dungeon Crawlers. Personally I found Morrowind Nailed this. For WHEN-EVER I make a Mage character in that game, I will always join House Telvanni. Mage guild and Telvanni work So well together.

The "quest" to become the Thieves Guild's leader is stupid and tedious.

The mod to force the Blades to obey you is great. "I'm the Dragonborn. You serve me. Paarthunax will be spared."

How about adding a few clues to where those gems could be and halve the amount you're supposed to get?

The Sheogorath quest, despite all the greatness of Sheo himself. You're finally in an environment that doesn't feel copy-pasted and has weather that's actually unique...but you can't explore because the game is constantly rushing you to finish it, and you can't return or stay to explore once you do. for that I have to dock significant points, but at least we get to see two Elder Scrolls protagonists interact.

The crimson nirnroot one is a tribute to a similar quest in Oblivion, "Seeking your roots". Except you get the quest after harvesting your first nirnroot. You have to find once specific alchemist who then asks you to bring him nirnroots several times, 100 nirnroots total. Each time you get a better version of a potion he's working on. And regular nirnroots in Oblivion aren't that hard to get - while doing some Mages- and Fighters Guild quests I bumpt into them all the time

I'm sure someone already commented on this, but you don't have to go through the long mining cutscene. All you have to do is equip your pick and just beat the ore out

I don't think there was ever a point that I even remotely liked Delphine. She was bossy, arrogant, narcissistic, and hateful to the core. I liked Esbern a bit more, but only just a bit; since he also wanted Paarthurnax to be killed. Of course; this was always bigger than just Paarthurnax. The Blades would have wanted to kill every last dragon and put them all back into the ground. Nevermind the fact that the Blades already did that once, and all the good that did; Alduin was able to resurrect them easily and rally them to his side. Since it is very much likely that Alduin will eventually return sometime in the distant future, there is no sense in just killing all the dragons again; since it was pointless the first time. Instead; the better way would be to have Paarthurnax teach the other dragons the Way of the Voice. That way; should Alduin return; the other dragons wouldn't be so likely to join Alduin in conquest of Tamriel. In fact; it could even lead to the dragons fighting back against Alduin and secure the future of Nirn for more generations to come after that. Also; this could lead to a more peaceful existence between the dragons and the mortal races. And then; perhaps there would never again be a need for a Dragonborn.

+ Impatience of a Saint: Creepy atmosphere. No quest markers. Random CTDs if not completed. Tedious AF. + Return the Falmer books to Urag: Getting the ancient tomes are cool but Urag makes the Dragonborn look stupid and it conflicts lorewise with the Thieves Guild questline. + Get plants for Ingun: Tell your mama to hire some lowlifes to pluck some Nirnroots for you. I'm too busy slaying bandits. + Bring bear pelts to Temba: Pelts take too much space in inventory plus bears are scary at low levels. Nope.

I don’t even see those stupid stones anymore. By the time you collect all of them, your already so rich it doesn’t matter anymore.

The reward for completing “no stone unturned “ is out-of-control.

I didn't mind the crimson nirnroot one because it gave me an excuse to explore all of blackreach. Also you can see the glow from the nirnroot spawn in before most assets so it's easy to scout them out. Edit: You can dual wield pickaxes and use the shout to attack faster to mine ore veins extremely fast. Takes only a few minutes to mine out most mines.

Unfortunately some of those radiant and mining quests help you become Thane. There's also a great mod that shows the map markers for all of the Stones of Barenziah, but that probably won't help if you're aiming for a trophy. I've never killed Paarthunax and I also love Blackreach, I just hate how to get there!

I have found that most of the "Stones of Barenziah" are suprisingly close to major cities. There are 3 stones in a single city (In Whiterun and Windhelm) but that doesn't excuse the tediousness of the quest.

The No Stone Unturned quest is actually pretty useful to finish if you want to get crazy rich off of the gemstones you will find everywhere

3:04 At the end of this quest, you should learn how to make someone delve the caves and undergrounds of skyrim for you. I mean, they made the dragonborn do it, so there must be a way. It’s made pretty clear by both Valerica and Serana that once Harkon has the bow, and the prophecy is fulfilled he’ll no longer have a need for you. He wouldn’t leave such a powerful vampire alive as a rival. Siding with Harkon was never an option and everyone that knew him personally told you so.

You literally have to use nude mods in Skyrim otherwise 90% of the modded armor dosnt fit your character.

I hope, with the amount of time that's passed, that TES 6 is a lot more fleshed out than Skyrim was. Base game better be a return to roots, yet still polished. Skyrim was awesome, but they've had a crap load of time to work on TES 6. I hope its immaculate.

The last time i completed no stone unturned i was playing a theif and found them robbing houses and each time i got a bedlam job i googled their locations and made sure to rob those locations

Greybeards and Parthyrnax will continue to lend you aid in finding dragon shouts even though you are going against their way of the voice, but the "Blades" won't help out the dragon born because he's made friends with one specific dragon that did something thousands of years ago that nobody knows or rembers, whilst also disregarding the fact the dragon born is friends with multiple other dragons that were and/or are still evil.

actually i feel mining ore is a fun break from action every once and awhile for example i will totally be the one to mine ALL the iron ore from a cave and with the spell transmute you can get rich as f doing it its also a good way to powerlevel enchanting you mined 58 iron? cool you get 116 gold rings that you may then enchant and also there are mines that have orichelcum in orc strongholds or gold in that one mine with a quest in marakarth

Hey, I mine ore! :p Also, I think the reward for A Return to Your Roots is pretty good… it’s just that no reward could reasonably be good enough to be worth doing that quest.

For some reason I enjoy "A return to your roots" Yeah it takes awhile to complete, but I find it peaceful.

I think the purpose of most of these quests is to make you visit locations you would otherwise never visit. And if there happens to be a Gem of Barenziah at said location... Not everything can lead to an epic boss fight!

I actually don't mind mining for ore that much, don't get me wrong I don't do it for hours on end but I will take them as they come through my adventures and exploring.

The "destroy the dark brotherhood" quest line doesn't even let you save the prisoners in the cabin, wanting to save the single mother of 6 was my whole reason for attacking Astrid in the first place, but nah, you're character just leaves them all alone tied up in a cabin in the woods to die from starvation.

I’m probably the only player who actually enjoys playing a return to your roots. Mainly because black reach is so beautiful though dark, that it makes it worth it to explore the entirety of the area.
