It seems trolls are just highly prone to mutation, probably as a result of their regeneration. This could also make them live very long periods of time, and despite their low intelligence (about that of an ape), they can learn from their experiences, such as writing. This could be supported by their ability to be tamed, and presumably be given commands, so they can learn words over time. Their mutability can also result in the different types of trolls shown, with one's that experience certain conditions and living from it also slowly adapting to it. So a long lived troll that has been injured by acid many times in its life could mutate and resist it to a degree. Or a family of frost resistant troll could pass on that mutation to their offspring, resulting in frost trolls. Although fire would act to cauterize wounds, so full regeneration would be very difficult if not impossible, no matter the type of troll. The Uderfykte could just be term used for trolls that have lived a long time and are more cunning, and possibly resistant to multiple types of damage. I suppose they could also be artificially created if they're captured and tortured for build up their resistances from a young age. That actually makes a good plot- A young troll captured by an intrigued wizard, wanting to learn the secret behind a trolls regeneration, torturing it for years with different spells and weapons, until one day it overpowers the wizards' confines, but the wizard can't stop it because it's mutated so much that his spells are no longer effective. And the traumatic experience with the wizard made the troll have a taste for the flesh of humans. Sorry for the wall of text.

Not So Fun Fact: There’s a dead bandit that shares my name ‘Thomas’ that is located on a ledge above the hole where the frost troll is found. However Thomas is so high up you’ll have to use console commands to reach him and he’ll have a note that the story where he wanted to be the second in command of a bandit tribe. (Not sure which). In order to achieve this he needed to track down and slay the troll. Sadly as he descended into the hole just above the troll’s den, Thomas slipped and fell to his death.

Fire works on trolls, as was discussed in the video. Also, I found that coating your weapons in poison can temporarily neutralize their regenerative abilities. Of course, that also means that you need to have enough poison potions to keep doing damage to the troll, until it finally dies. ☠

I kinda feel sorry for that Drowned Bridge Troll would've been neat if they had a sidequest where you befriend them so they don't trouble you but still survives and gets helped by you so as to succeed at scaring people into paying toll but not attacking them. Even cooler would be in Skyrim they had a similar thing and you can recruit them as a follower of some kind maybe like an armored troll similar to Dawnguard has but more intelligent and able to give them armor and weapons yourself.

Another option for the troll under the bridge: someone was attacked by the troll and killed it, and then wrote that note as a joke.

Troll is the first challenging enemy in the game up until that point, minus the dragon, so it either a mini boss or just *Trolling* the Dragon born.

I think trolls in general are, in fact, comparable in intelligence to dogs. The one under the bridge, since it's in-game and technically, thus canon, is likely just a genius by troll standards while most are not much smarter than any common animal. As far as seeing any more Udefrykte in the future, one would likely make an appearance in High Rock if a game was set there, but since the next one is surely Hammerfell, it's unlikely that we'd see one anytime soon. A game covering both regions, while possible with Bethesda's large studios, still seems unlikely t ome.

@@becausebeth6389 music to take the savage beast, I like it. Although I find the image of the troll tamer dude (can't remember his name. Gunmar, or something like that?) Playing a lute for a group of trolls to be just kind of funny.

I loved fighting a troll early on, swapping my shield for a torch to deal fire damage and keep them from regenerating. Its a shame the strategy became useless fairly quickly but it felt so clever and rewarding the first time I tried it.
