@Waluigi If you live 200-300 years, your views would most likely be seen as outdated. You’ll be seen as crazy or an outright asshole. Play Morrowwind, ES Online, or even Oblivion...not just Skyrim...and look at some of the older elves and you’ll see that they tend to be that way. Go to Raven Rock and see what the meaning of hospitality is from the guards.... Also the lore...dark elves have pretty much always had a rocky relationship with the nords along with the argonians. Mix that with little to no education of the world...you see how that turns out. I understand Ulfric’s beliefs, I mean that speech he made when you first meet him in Windhelm when he was lecturing Galmar was actually inspiring and one of the characteristics of a great leader. With history and his own environment...especially The Great War where the Empire actually lost BADLY...disillusioned a lot of the Nords who were the brunt of the White Gold Concordant cause of ELVES. This included Ulfric...and many others so it’s not a surprise a civil war happened. Ulfric was shortsighted cause it was a play to weaken the Empire so the Dominion can crush it once and for all. So...before you say something like that which villianizes these characters, take a step back and see the bigger picture. Skyrim is a great game cause of the real world implications and how certain events mirror our own.

@@AstralJustus your forgeting the dominion has to travel to skyrim to get at them their is no fast travel system if the travel by sea the have to ether go past hammerfell and get shot on sight by the redguard pirates and navy if they go past black marsh they will get shot on sight or worse get pirated by Naga agonian that have needle like teeth their root is hostile and long journey if they even tried going by land the empire controls the centre and will never let a dominion army past into cyrodill it be idiotic the only choice is by sea and if they got their in 1 peace they have to fight the Nords on their own turff the nord hiding in the mountains and hills doing hit and run tactic then when the main force is weaken and army of nord soldiers charging the last remaining forces and ether drving them back to the sea or to their death don't forget the nord conqured most of Tamriel the first empire was a nord one and the impriels would still be slaves to the Ayleids if it was not for nord conquring skyrim from the snow elves and helping their human neighbours to the south

@@joshuafleming5380 with this in mind, independent Skyrim has a better chance than Independent Hammerfell, who had none of Skyrim's harsh climates nor geography to defend them from the Thalmor. Heck Skyrim has better warriors than Hammerfell simply because of their living conditions. And yet the Redguards managed to send the Dominion not just the Thalmor off of Hammerfell.

I also should have said 'caring for his kin more than other ethnicities' instead. Different care towards different ethincities or even races is not racist wheter or not it is justified. Similarly we usually care for our families and friends more than we care for strangers. That does not make us chauvinists. And as I said there are many non-Nords who live quite well on Stormcloak territories. To be fair for Ulfric and the Stormcloaks I think it is more about ethnicity, culture (worship of Talos) and country (free Skyrim) rather than race. There is also much greater and essential metaphysical difference between races of Men, Mer and Beastfolk in Tamriel compered to races within humankind irl, so it is important to not equate the two. In a sense they are different species and also have different mythical origins and ontological constitution.

Letting people live segregated is not exactly what doesn't make him racist... The government of South Africa also allowed black people to live in the country, just segregated. Which was still racist. He kicked the Argonians out because he mistrusts them - the Dunmer are totally unrelated to that. The Empire has given Skyrim a lot of autonomy, and the Jarls of Skyrim have a lot of autonomy even above that point. Skyrim's cities being a mess is because its Jarls are bad, not because of the Empire.

The Empire instead of leaving when they're obviously not wanted, start a civil war. They want to side with the elves, they want to put people in jail at Northwatch to be tortured for believing in a religion. The start of the game the Empire is trying to cut off the player characters head and people still side with them. If you side with the Empire and they win people like hemskir are thrown in prison for believing in their religion. Even if the Empire win the war it will never be truly over because this is an unwinnable fight. The Nords are not a people to give up, it will be in Insurgency. If the empire was smart they would have let Skyrim declare its independence just like hammerfall. But they didn't do that for obvious plot reasons. I don't support Ulfric Stormcloak, but I do support the cause. The Skyrim Civil War is about religious freedom and personal sovereignty.
