In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we talk about the first empire of man on Tamriel, and how awesome it was!
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

First time I played Skyrim, I hadn't asked for directions yet, so I didn't know that The Cloud District were in Whiterun, so when Nazeem asked me so, I scoffed at him, thinking he was talking about Cloud Ruler Temple, which had been destroyed many years before.

Skyrim used to be full of huge city states ruled jarls, who always were who ever was the strongest warrior. Every where has covered with snow, except the reach; and everywhere was covered with the fantatsic nordic culture. Now we have discount imperials, in discount cyrodil... still great to mod the shit out of though.

Actually Skyrim is inhabited by a bunch of fucking N'wah Bandits and Nazis from Secunda. The nordic Pantheon did never exist. These were just FaNcY tAlEs. wahtareyucasul? Warrior Kings? Pffft. That has been ASSÜÜÜMEd by some idiot foreign tradörs that were clearly on skooma and ESO ingame money. Actually you thot dat Teamrielle was cool? Pfft. With Eso they showed us the real continet of tamriöööl. Cyroddil Jungle? Colovian States? Nope. Lies done by those pesky argönisans or smth. Grass lands are way cooler. And ..And you know what? You thought Summerset was made out of Crystal and Poetry buildings? Those were clearly EXXAGERATIONS made by traders from cyrodiil or smth because Summerset looks exactly like Cyrodiil. Those trader s were just really high on skooma or it was M'aiq who told tose LIES!111 C0da makes this CANNON. I never understood the whole 500 companions thing and how they slaughtered the Snow elves and here is why: 500 is a small army for such a scale of military success. I would understand better if those 500 were actually generals with their own solders to lead into battle.

500 is a small number by today's standards, but in TES's ancient history it would've probably been sufficient. Especially considering Elves breed slower and live longer, so the population would be smaller than expected, although I have to admit it still seems a bit unbelievable.
@windhelmguard5295
@windhelmguard5295 6 жыл бұрын
the story speaks of the five hundred companions, 500 men who followed ysgramor to avenge the fallen of the night of tears. what the story kinda omits is that those 500 men probably also brought their 500 wives along and seeing how nord women are extremely badass in their own right, it's easy to see how they could overpower the elves efortlessly, especially seeing that in the time it takes for one elf child to reach adulthood, a nord could grow up, conquere himself a wife and have children of his own. another thing is the way nordic forces where extremely easy to replenish, elves are lightly built and need highly advanced techniques or magic to be effective, whic hmeans that they need to be trained in the arts of war, whereas all you need to turn a random nord into a warrior is to hand him a shield and a mace.

The game itself is great but it feels like it is incomplete. Bethesda needs to spend more time adding more content to the elder Scrolls 6 than any other elder Scrolls game, they could use the millions of KZfaq videos and mods as references, they could even recruit modders themselves to help build the game.

What I love about most in The Elder Scrolls, they take pages from our real world history. You can draw some lines to direct events that happened here, and events that happened in Skyrim. These events could be separated by hundreds of years in our time, but happen in as little as 5 years for Tamriel. Which is fine, that's how history actually worked, but no one had the time to write down every small detail. The time period skyrim takes place mimics that of the reign of Augustus Caesar of Rome. Briefly before his death, and mostly after. A monument of a man...some even revered him as a god during those times. It would be hard not to, the man expanded the roman empire all the way up to where modern day great Britain is today (not to say he conquered the island of Britannia, but he made an attempt, and had some limited success too...) Say what you want about the old Roman Empire, say what you want about their policies and practices, their barbarity. Caesar is my most beloved and well respected historical figure. He did his very best until he was stabbed in the back, trying to keep Rome united, trying to hold together a ship that had already been sinking since he first enlisted in the Roman military. You may say that certain actions contradicted this sentament, and you would be right...but only if those actions are taken at face value. The values at which the town criers are paid to appraise it at. We can't draw parallels to this man, but we can draw them to the time he lived in if we equate the Nords native to Skyrim to the Gauls of the Gaulic Tribes in what is now west Germany. I'll leave you with that, because I could write a whole book, but I am not that enthusiastic about doing some hard academic work. The Gualic Tribes began a brutal uprising against their Roman Occupiers in 58-55 BC. They felt the same way the Nords do, that the Empire is weak, and unable to defend them or provide for it's own people. The truth is right now, that every emperor including Caesar had mismanaged the budget...and now their empire was stretched to it's maximum. Only slightly different than Tamriel really. The Empire of Tamriel isn't stretched, and they didn't exactly mismanage their money, but they had many brutal civil wars that weakened them. Rome had civil wars that weakened them immensely, but they all happened after Caesar's death. We'll get there though. There was an assassination, a successful one, of the Emperor (Dark brotherhood quest line). This ties closely to Caesar's assassination, but it doesn't mirror it. It's the events that happen afterwards that play the same historical notes. (Assassinated 44 BC) The Thalmor can be see as the Visigoths, or any other assortment of peoples that Rome pissed off by deposing their leaders. Throughout history, Rome would reach for diplomacy first, war second. So they would often adopt laws outlawing a certain form of worship, or laws that would require specific citizens to pay a tithe when traveling through certain lands. There where many ways the Roman Empire would deal with their enemies, and unfortunately some of them involved appeasement buy convincing their citizens to give something up. Most of the time though, it was never war. The roman war machine was ceaseless, and unmatched. A weakened Rome met with the same demands would make the same decisions without a second though, and it would beat the citizens who can't understand "It was to avoid the worst". So if you do the Civil war quest , then the assassination quest, you will have played it out exactly as Caesars life played out near the end. In the 15 year period where he desperately tried to manage a run away and totally corrupt country. Caesar fought a civil war before being assassinated. This man is a real man because his enemies couldn't depose him, couldn't out debate him, couldn't beat him in battle, and so they had to resort to assassination...not only that, they where PROUD of it...meanwhile, the citizens where in horror. Seriously, go learn this page in history. Seriously, right after they killed him, they took to the streets and proclaimed to everyone, "It is done!". The roman public HATED the senators who murdered Caesar, a man who had done nothing wrong in their eyes...Rome burned after this...people lost their minds. To the peoples, Caesar expanded their borders, Brought in many new fine fabrics and other imports, Faught for the people against dirty politics, and was the first emperor in around 500 years. (crowned by the same Senators that assassinated him. They tried desperately to get the people to hate him, but Caesar was wise to them, and didn't let them have their way.) Anyways, I have written a book now...it's all pretty fascinating, go check it out. Historia Civilis has good content with maps on his channel to show you how the battles went down from ariel view.

Jackalack313 M I always go for that type of character build in Skyrim. A nordic barbarian, following the traditions of her or his ancestors. I got two characters right now, male and female. The male is similar to Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings. The female is like red sonja. Both are disappointed by what they see in Skyrim. Nothing at all like the stories their parents told them. Instead of a country filled with battle hardened warriors, and adventure seeking explorers. They find a land of farmers, merchants, ruled by incompetent Jarls. Both see the civil war as a waste of time. The Stormcloaks should be fighting to restore the entire Nordic pantheon, not just the right to worship one god.

As hardcore as that ransom economy sounds, it's not too far off from what happened in our world that became chivalry. It wasn't too uncommon for feuds, especially those between families and clans, to escalate into bloodbaths with no end in sight. But soon the upper classes got the brilliant idea that it could be much less messy, and much more profitable, to instead hold foes for ransom. These "prisoners" were often treated like guests, and returned to where they belonged once the deal was done. But if it was worse off to simply kill someone, what was a warrior to do? Well the warriors and bodyguards of nobles learned to fight without killing, not unlike how prized gladiators in the Roman arenas were trained to put on a good fight but keep each other's expensive bodies alive. So knights developed a distinct reputation of civility and professionalism, the "upper class warrior" who would much rather settle things in a flashy duel or jousting competition instead of butchering each other.

They need to release a CORE Elders Scroll game with an engine thats easy to update & then EXPAND by releasing a new REGION every second year with DLC's in between. Well thats what I would do. In the end you could have a huge map :)

This is why Nords are and still will be my favourite back in the first era they got shit done especially against the puny Elves. I've got my fingers crossed the next Skyrim build will be a Nord build that its about making Skyrim great and worships the cool Pantheon of the gods

Skyrim used to be cool - the Falmer kept it nice and chill, with advanced culture, badass magic and a proper elven religion. Then the Nords came along and fucked it all up. Yeah, thanks, Nords. Go to Oblivion.
@sir3543
@sir3543 6 жыл бұрын
1. They're not Nords. They were Atmorans. 2. Atmorans settled and built in Skyrim but they lived in peace together with Falmers. 3. The Falmers felt threatened by the fast reproduction rate of the Atmorans so they launched an attack against an Atmoran settlement called Saarthal. Only Ysmir and his two sons survived the attack. 4. Ysmir returns to Skyrim with an army called the "500 companions", takes revenge and conquers the land. So no, FALMERS fucked it all up.

Pre oblivion skyrim? basicly a prehistoric ice age land of mega fauna ruled by the slightly more civilized nords down south and then inhabited with super elemental warrior mages up north who hunt flying whales. ("children of the sky" the further north you go the more elemental the nords become and the less shelter they need.) And they always carry a wind with them, they always have a wind(wind magic? guess thats why they had thunder fists.)

it was hated since 2011 by fans of a series only good modding community saved this game. each new release bethesda games are getting worse in terms of features and complexity. progression of vanilla games quality is like this Morrowind>Oblivion>F3>Skyrim>F4. It does not mean that these games are bad, they are just worse than predecessors.

but it's not. for every new improvement in each new game there were couple steps back. oblivion had better combat but oversimplified guilds and cut on skills(going as far as removing interesting weapon and armor types), skyrim improved combat and added perks, but completely butchered stats and whole roleplay system was stripped of many features(magic in particular sucks major ass in skyrim. magic damage does not scale with skills making it useless on high levels and you can not create new spells, armor does not affect your magic and there is no durability stat), remember vampirism in morrowind? you had different vampire species and clans with different stats and skills? remember Fallout 4 and how praised was the ability to put closes and armors in layers? the feature that was not in skyrim/oblivion/Fallout 3? well you could do that in morrowind. admit it every new bethesda installment is more and more casualized and streamlined. less and less features, more and more broken balance and stories get more and more stupid each time.

Now I just need an Ancient Nord build, from the very first days of Tamriel. IMAGINE! He'd be a hulking Nord, and would be awoken by... the Ancient Nordic god of time (I don't know the pantheon, I'm so so sorry ;-;) to fight back against his mortal enemy Alduin. HE REMEMBERS AND HE IS A REMORSELESS, BADASS WARRIOR OF DOOM TO ALL DRAGONS AND ELVES. Death to the Falmer!

From OOG and esoteric lore: Aka-Tusk is the Nordic name for the God of Time. Alduin is just a shard of Aka-Tusk, as are Akatosh, Auriel and Alkosh the Dov and the Jills.
