Tried it for the first time in Mexico. Worked really well other than a small point where I suddenly couldn't get a signal even though I was connected. I have the original skyroam

I was in Cozumel Mexico in 2016 and 2017 I had issues with connecting to the web and I think this is the tool that I could use the next I return.

Mexico is fabulous! Hope this can help. Keep in mind it is for light usage. I try to keep mine off when not in use so I don’t eat up all my data. Same with my devices. Keep things turned off that you don’t need or run in the background.

Rebecca Meyer ok and since you mentioned Irma I had friends and family affected by the storm in both Puerto Rico (also with Maria) and in Florida especially in Naples my family there were without power for a week. Plus I would use it mainly for my phone to surf the web and even play Pokémon Go too because I want to play the game around the island of Cozumel one day.

I had the old Skyroam and loved it. It worked all over Europe. I was also able to link my Laptop to it and it worked fine. You can purchase extra days anytime by going to their website, signing in and purchasing the extra days. I used an old small camera bag which had a strap for my belt and the Skyroam fit perfectly well. The problem with the new Solis is that it's too big for a belt holder. Good idea but much too bulky.

charles t sedita you get unlimited usage per day. You have to purchase day passes. The day passes will give you unlimited WiFi for 24 hours.

Thanks ii am Thai yes in Thailand hard to select internet plan.now I am searching alot of these devices like at&t T-Mobile Version and Sprint makes me confused . Which one is the best.

It varies what is best for you. I would recommend speaking to them individually to see what works best. sorry, I can't be more help...really depends what their coverage is and where in Thailand you are.

Finally someone who actually travels doing a review, is their a device that will allow normal usage like your in the states. Opening videos, uploading. Seems all these devices are for emails .

kevin bacon wouldn’t recommend it for streaming...but out and about for light communication. If I wanted to watch KZfaq and stuff, I would jump on hotel WiFi. If I knew I was going to use it to upload in the evening, I careful to not use it during the day to save the data...or just be patient...like through the night upload at slow speed. For me it worked, but be sure to turn off background refresh apps and notifications...super glad I had it during the hurricane.

I'll got old skyroam global hotspot for $12 With 5 days ( not started) save $50 from $10 or $8-$9 per day passes.. it's great deal. On catch.. 2 year and need to change up.. lol

I’m planning to buy Skyroam Solis as a gift, but the site doesn’t really explain how to add day passes to it? Is it like the old one? Can you buy a certain amount of dates?

+Glenmarie Green yes...with the 2nd skyroam you will need a 2nd account unless you contact skyroam and they can move previous day passes to the new solis.

Unfortunately no. You could stream but it takes up a lot of gigs. This is more for “light” use. Better to use your phone as a hotspot and get international.

Unlimited usage for 24 hours. Then you need to use a day pass which costs around 8 usd.

Rebecca Meyer that make absolutely no sense unless the unlimited is meaning charging your phone off the battery pack. Or getting to carry it around with you. What to get WiFi you have to pay $8 for 24 hours that is not unlimited usage of 4G LTE.

Well, on a plane sometimes you might pay 20 bucks for internet service for 3 hours...then it cuts you off. With the day pass you get usage for 24 hours.

charles t sedita iii unfortunately just 24 hrs. It does not roll over. However what is nice about it, if you start it in 1 county...and travel through another. It will still work within that 24 hours.

+Glenmarie Green hmmm you probably could for a small video...but it would probably use up all your data pretty quickly. I wouldn’t recommend it.

It throttles you down after 500 mb of data used and was almost useless for watching anything on youtube!

It definitely does slow you down...if the goal is to use for streaming, then I would not recommend. But, for communicating with loved ones...light usage like emails and such...no problem. When I was in Thailand I had a very difficult time contacting my family at home...wish I had had something like this when I was there.

Not that I’m aware off. Just day by day. You may want to look into a hotspot through a cell phone carrier for something like that.

Abrams1130, is that $99 for unlimited usage for 30 days? Also, something that isn't clear to me is do you still have to pay your own provider for all the data you're using? Like if I had a T-Mobile subscription, 10$ for 20GB per month (just an example), do I have to pay 99$ on top of that or can I stop paying those $10?

Anthony Owens unfortunately would not recommend it. It’s not really meant for streaming. Light things like communication, Facebook, email, WhatsApp, iMessage are best for this device.

Would this be a good device for a truck driver? On the road Wi-Fi is hard to come by at times...

Wow! It would be fantastic as long as there are cell phone towers...that’s how it works. But you could also use your phone as a Hotspot. Depends how much you have data wise. If you are trying to stream movies and things like that, your phone may be a better option.

WiFi is pretty easy here. It would work great though. There are cell towers almost everywhere with the exception of some huge national parks like the Everglades. Where are you going? Even in my city they have free WiFi on the street. Do you think you need it here?

Rebecca Meyer ah thank you so much for replying, and currently rving across the States but sometimes we hit the country and it's hard to find good service so I'm not really picky. I just wanna make sure it works well in regular towns not necessarily big cities. But it doesn't seem too bad of an idea, I'm currently looking for something more permanent instead of paying per day.

Stacy in that case it may not work for you. It uses cell towers to work. During the hurricane I went though, I lost cell service. Skyroam did connect to a tower (not att) but my internet was very light. satellite service might work for you, but that’s super pricey.

I don’t think it work. Only for a few minutes because your speed will get down throttled.

Most providers do...have to be very careful though and read the fine print. Can be very expensive.

+Aesthetic Minute hmmm i guess it just depends which country you are in. If I was on a bad connection I would just reset it. Just happy I had it for the hurricane, but was great in Peru.

As far as what is on the market...it’s probably the best. But there still needs to be some more options/technology on this area.

To be honest I don't know where to start.... I am very very disappointed.... how do you come up with a product that goes all the place. You can't use it for streaming videos and all the good stuff that you're supposed to use it for.... last time I checked unlimited is unlimited ..Ooo an once you get to 500 megabytes they slow your speed down to crap.... I just saved myself 150..

michael motschall it’s definitely not meant for streaming...if that is what you are looking for, then this is not the right product. It’s does throttle you quite a bit. I’m not big on streaming things when I am traveling. For light use it was great. Emails, fb, WhatsApp calls. I was also very careful about not having things running in the background to suck up data. That being said...it does suck up data fast, but it was WAY better to have it than to rely on nothing or hotel WiFi.

Rebecca Meyer see here's the problem when I see a whole website on it about how it's unlimited 9 whatever dollars... then I want unlimited. Any freaking where... and if I can hook up 5 devices there should not be no problem on the data usage on an unlimited plan....

slow, expensive,, better a local card and not spending your time on local support,also you have the risk of no connection , if skynoroam does not have more credit on the server where you are,, happen to me, 11 days waiting for them , now cancel and getting on with a local sim 4 times cheaper and 3 times faster,,,, remember skynoroam is named by most travellers,,
