Instead of bilateral ODI series there should be more multi country tournaments like Asia Cup or any continental series. It will bring more competion and interest in the game.

Forgive me if I’m mistaken as I’m a fairly new cricket fan but for being so new to punditry and the broadcasting side of the sport, Eoin Morgan has really impressed me. From being white ball captain to retiring and a week later being so honest and intelligent speaking in front of camera immediately. Really impressive.

Mark Butcher and Atherton are real thinkers, their thoughts are inclusive, they are thinking about everybody for the betterment of the game.

I have to give Shaun Pollock credit here because in Ireland, we practically only have T20s and ODIs so to scrap ODI would be effectively gutting the game here as we speak where it has seen some growth over the last few years. Heinrich Malan has said that he hopes to see more tests come to Ireland over the next few years but I'd say we'd need more ODIs to get a solid grounding and if we lose ODIs, I don't see how we're going to improve and continue. It's just a sorry state of affairs that I feel might end up killing the game for all but the core group of countries.

I miss the days when players were eager to play all 3 formats, I miss the days when odi was a popular game where we would sit and watch those juicy run chases, we had the era of all those bilateral, tri lateral and those indo pak odi tournaments what a golden era indeed, now we just have these league games where 90% is of poor quality what a sad situation we have ourselves in just for the sake of broadcast deals

1. Conduct Test Championship finals once in every 4 years, not 2 years. Make teams face each other in home & away conditions. At least 3 matches should be played in each series. The finals must also be a 3 match test series. 2. Conduct ODI WC the year next to the test championship finals, then T20 WC the next year and ICC Champions Trophy the next year. 3. Increase the number of teams in WCs. At least 21 teams must play. 3 groups, top 4 in each group qualify to the next round and play in 2 groups, Top 3 in each group qualify to Super6s, then Semis and finals. 4. Bring back the Tri series, quadragular series concept. Make rival teams face off each other. Create new rivalries like SA-NZ, WI-Ban, Ire-Afg, WI-SL, Aus-NZ, Ban-SL, Aus-SA, Eng-Ire by making these teams play more tri and quadrangular apart from the existing Ind-Pak, Ind-Aus, Aus-Eng, Ind-Eng. 5. Conduct more ODIs than T20s in every bilateral series. But focus more on the tri and quad series than bilateral series. 6.Start conducting ICC events even outside of the Indian subcontinent, England and Australia. At first it'll be financially not very feasible but the market would gradually pick up. It is good for cricket. 7. Try making most tour schedules like, 3-5 match test series + Tri/ quad ODI series + bilateral 3 match t20 series. But also conduct bilateral ODI series sometimes, but with 5-7 matches and keep the number of T20 matches lesser than ODI matches in bilaterals. 8. Just do something and grant permanent membership to Scotland, Nederlands, Kenya, UAE and Nepal. These teams have been there for quite some time and are fairly better in comparison to most other associate teams. 9. Do something and prevent the destruction of cricket in Zimbabwe. If possible try intervening into WICB and solve the West Indies cricket problems. Make sure that cricket doesn't get destroyed in countries like India, SA, Australia, England and West Indies. This is the only possible way that cricket can be saved.

As a kid I started watching cricket with 50 over. It was and still is perfect for me. Back in those days we used to watch around 40 odi matches per year. It is sad to hear ODI has to go. While everybody talk about Ben Stokes, look at Butler and Roy for an example. They have to compete for a spot in test cricket but they are automatic choices for whiteball and they are perfect for it. Take Sri Lanka, WI : naturally the test team and whiteball team is totally different except for rare one/two players who make it to both. So anybody else who would like to believe two different teams for tests and odis will be a solution for the problem?

@12:30 and, of course, the greed of the ECB means they have now introduced a reduced version of T20, as a franchise model, to further reduce the availability of players to play international cricket AND increase the demands on playing time. Ben Stokes has also opted out of the Hundred, and I hope many more players do too, so we can get rid of this 5 ball over irrelevance.

I worry about cricket. I don't know how long 20/20 will last. I can see the public getting tired of it in the next 20 years. ODIs seem to be dying out. Maybe test cricket will revitalize but pitches need to be equal help for batters and bowlers. No more roads.

As an Australian can I just say that Michael Atherton is the best cricket pundit / commentator in the world, bar none.

For me odi is the best form of the game. It has features of both - test and T20 depending on the situation. You can 'hang in there' in a one day game and have to play fast because of constraints of number balls. 50 over game should be priority for international cricket.

At the moment it's all about the economics of the game. And it's good to see so many franchise cricket taking place, money has become very essential in today's world. So it's only fair players who work so hard getting into the sides gets recognition...moreover everyone is happy watching favourite players in franchise cricket..also more and more players getting opportunity to earn a decent living from the game...change with the changes...that's how it should be. It will be a very sad day for cricket if odis are scrapped. Odis carry so much glory and history with them, as the odi world cup is the biggest prize in all of cricket. The t20 world cup is nowhere near the same value as the odi world cup. We must bring odi tri series back and 5 match odi series

2 points in addition to the insightful observations made in this discussion. First, T20 cricket (both franchise and bilateral) is bound to reach a saturation point sooner than later. With the CSA's new league, the 10 team IPL, the CPL, the PSL, the LPL, the BBL, the Hundred, the UAE league, the Smash and the Blast, the T20 franchise calendar is pretty much packed throughout the year. This is going to lead to increased frustration and a decreasing interest in the T20 game within the next few years. Looking at it on the outset, there is a clear prioritisation of quantity over quality, even though I understand the financial circumstances of national boards. Secondly, there will be an increased focus on product differentiation of franchise leagues - that is to say, if a viewer is to garner enthusiasm towards one league over the other, it is going to be because of what that league offers (which is going to become more focused on structures and rule tweaks than anything else). We see the Big Bash and the Hundred already having different rules to increase excitement for the game, but this is a slippery slope too. To what extent are we, as viewers, okay with these tweaks? Is cricket more focused towards what it shows to new viewers than what it doesn't show to old ones? We need answers to these questions more urgently than ever. The way we treat the shortest format will have the most lasting impact on our game for the years to come.

I like Atherton's suggestion to divide cricket formats into different windows in a year. Let's say, for example, 4 months of franchise cricket, 1 month of t20 cricket, 1 month of ODI cricket, and 6 months of test cricket in a year.

Cricket should have gone the Football way 50 years back . It would have been a far bigger sport right now than what it is . In just 15 years T20 Cricket has spread the game to more countries than Test n ODIs could even dream of , 121 countries playing cricket was a Dream . Cricket is back in Commonwealth n Asian games due to T20 Cricket & Olympics will soon follow . ODI Cricket needs to be scrapped for the good of game .

The football model cannot work for cricket. In football, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga all happen simultaneously and all these leagues stop for international matches. Most of the players play for one club for the entire season. In cricket, leagues happen worldwide at different times of the year. One player can play in 3-4 different T20 leagues in one year. All international matches stop for one league (i.e. IPL), and for the rest of the leagues, their games just run in parallel to the international fixtures. The football league system is not as imbalanced as the cricket world.

Test cricket cycle should have level 1 & level 2 to seperate good teams from below par. At the end of every test championship, bottom level 1 team can be relegated to level 2 and top level 2 team should be promoted to level 1. This will create more balance between the teams and incentive to compete.

I can see test and t20 staying over odi And it would be a good contrast too, one fast game that finishes under 4hrs (idk exact average time) and test for a multi day event I think it would be really hard to host a cricket World Cup without t20 or odi formats

ODIs The world cup needs to be a priority. Make it once every 3-4 years and during those periods host qualifier games (similar to qualifiers for the football world cup). These games should be scheduled during breaks between franchisee cricket (call it an international break similar to football). Same can be done for t20 world cup. These competitions should be once every 3 years. We can add other competitions as well like Asia cup , Africa cup etc similar to euros and coppa america

This specialization of players in a specific format could potentially be very beneficial actually as it invites more professionals to get selected for their countries.

There's no simple solution to this. It has been and will remain to be a tough job to balance two aspects of this game, aesthetics and popularity. The main difference between cricket and other sports is its very complexity. For other sports the main metric is money and popularity. But in cricket there are lot of different schools. There are people who think test cricket is only the real and most authentic form of cricket, some people think 50 over game maintains a good balance between cricketing flavour, entertainment, pragmatism in terms of time, money and Popularity. Now, in this decade with the advent of shortest format of the game, some people believe it is the only way forward as it is brief, insanely entertaining, innovative and money making. Though it lacks the very flavour of authentic cricketing grandeur, it enchants Billions around the globe. As a cricket lover I see every format as a different flavour. I devour everything with same keenness. Loss of any format will do nothing but hurt me.

T20 franchise cricket has ruined cricket. The quality of batsmans going to dip massively over the coming years, there'll be a big ratio of batsman just going out to slog. Technique or temperament not being tested whatsoever. With the amount of t20s being played nowadays, international t20Is should only be played when there's a world Cup as theres enough of the format being played in the form of franchise cricket. ODIs and Tests should predominantly dominate international cricket. Sad times for the game, can understand why a lot of my pals have distance themselves from watching the cricket.

Enlightened point of view by Mike Atherton. The narrative should not be T20/ODI/test but about health of cricket holistically across the world. Bigger boards need to ensure all countries are competitive for the good of the game as an overall, rather than for self interest/domination by having only 6 test playing nations. Athers spoke of W Indies not getting a test tour by England and the impact that could have. We need to keep cricket relevant to the the masses, and not elitist, with only a few people in a handful of countries playing.

Perhaps it's just a bias from the era I grew up in and my formative Cricket watching, but I find ODI's the best format, having elements of both the shorter and longer formats of the game. With a little love and attention, I think we'll be able to keep the format around for a while longer... though yes, if things become unsustainable, it'll be the one to go.

One change in t20 cricket can bring competition between bat and ball - instead of 5 bowlers bowling 4 overs each let 4 bowlers bowl 5 overs each

Cricket will be driven by what the players want. As Shastri stated that players want to play Test cricket and I’m so glad that Test cricket still holds it value despite the fears back in 2008 when the IPL started. Test Cricket will be the most memorable format because it simply produces those moments; and viewers enjoy it as well as the players. ODI cricket will take a hit in terms of bilateral series as we’re seeing. However I think if the 50 over world cups are valued highly, everyone will look forward to to that including players and people everywhere because it will become more hard to get and hence the value would go up. I think it will be cherished more as it will be rare and a huge occasion in the World Cup. Overall I would much rather see the bilateral series take a hit rather than test cricket. And of course that would happen parallel to the players interest also as t20 leagues brings in a lot of money for them so you have to make space somewhere.

Domestic matches in India, England and Australia should be taken as a scope for developing of sustainability for teams like ireland, Afganistan, Zimbabwe just to help them in finding there feet in test Cricket. For helping them in finding more test players.

Is anybody ancient and grey enough to remember the old John Player Sunday League? I always felt personally that 40 overs was the perfect balance in a one day game. Totally enjoyable and never a dull moment. It certainly was competitive and not like 20/20, which (as a format) is far too fast and almost baseball now. Whereas 50 over ODI's are a little tedious at times to say the least. I even think it would be interesting to have 20/20, but over 4 innings. The most that woudl take is 6 hours. That would then have some Test Match flavour to it and strategies like follow-ons could then happen. What I do think is that even if ODI's do go, The Hundred should go to. It does nothing, it's a gimmick, I absolutely hate it

India, Australia and England need to come forward and make two specialist teams so that they can support other financially weaker boards by playing white ball format. The multination tournaments can generate a bit off interest for white ball format and also reduce the volume of cricket.

I loved the discussion here. I think, for all the formats to survive, ICC needs to adopt the Women's Ashes model for bilateral cricket. We have 5-6 games on every tour, 2 tests, 2 ODIs and 2 t20s, and we have an overall series winner at the end of that. This cuts down unnecessary bilateral ODI series', and each format within a series will have a significance, since you need to win games in each format to win the tour.

This why the champions trophy was such a good tournament. Brought together the 2 best teams from each domestic T20 comp from the participating nations & there was money at the end of it. Perhaps the ICC should force the domestic competitions to share the same window, & have it rotating through different countries OR the ICC creates a World T20 team which goes & plays in a different domestic competition every year, with certain number of best players from previous domestic comp playing in the next version with the best players in the world. Will only make those domestic players better & possibly help them gain international selection for their country.

*ODIs is obviously there to survive with several improvements* Think of it like a 4 years circle. 1 wc 1 champions trophy 2 Asia Cups Several tri-nation series Some 4 nation series Never miss Big Bilaterals : ind Aus eng etc To curb the bore in the middle, have a powerplay option of 5 overs, between like 20-30 overs ! Bilaterals to be 3-match series more unless it's eng-ind-aus. Others to be 3 matches only mostly. So there's enough tournaments to look for in a 4 years circle: be it wc, and build up to the WC, same for champions trophy. Then big bilaterals are there anyway. 3 nation and 4 nation series give more context to matches. Asia Cups will be better, every 2 years. So there's a lot to look for in just 1 format only which isn't there in other formats. That's all, not more ODIs, no use of long bilaterals between top and bottom teams. 3 or occasionally 5 game t20 series, I don't mind. That is good. Tests are going well recently. Top teams , longer series Weak team, shorter series. 1 t20 wc and 1 test championship in 3 years. Then stop test championship for a year or so, then restart again after the gap. So basically give 3 years to test-championship out of 4 or a little more. Then leagues there. There's a lot of variety, it's not much odi cricket, there's enough variation to keep viewers excited. That's it . That's cricket! Odi is the main format! It's normal It's best!

Imo all franchise cricket should be brought into a time frame like march to september or november. In the remaining 5/6 months there should be tri series, quadrople series & test series. Also big tournaments WC, t20wc & WTC with every four years interval. Also icc should increase the number of teams in World Cup. Less billiteral series.

Franchise cricket should focus on the t20 game. International series should remain test matches. You can play 50 over cricket for tournaments like a world cup. Save International ODI's and t20 for special occasions. Not the best solution maybe but a bit more in line with other world sports (just with different styles of games played)

As much 'close fought' of a game last night is (WI v IND), there's only one future of ODI bilaterals. They will make way for other two formats. Yes, ODI WC still the pinnacle of success in cricket, and it significantly higher valued than WTC & WT20 both, so it will remain forever.

ODI cricket should be given more importance. As of 2023, 105 countries are associated with ICC, cricket gaining popularity in the Europe as well. With popularity, competition happens. The fact is viewers should understand that " yes, T20 is great entertainment as it's the shortest format, but every player expresses themselves through ODI and test matches. ODI is must. Please save ODI and Test. Tri series and four nation series should happen and happen more.

As an American new to the game who enjoys all three formats for different reasons I look at it and can think it reminds me of the problem of college sports in the US rn. Football is the money maker and it drives everything, almost everything else doesn’t make money but schools are pressured to keep them around. And the big similarities I see between the two is there is no one running the show. I think if the ICC was being smart they’d embrace franchise T20 however say SA has a league any ODI playing nation in Africa can buy into the league for a slightly reduced price and that nations players enter that eco system. Australia has a few Teams in NZ, Bangladesh and SL can share a league. The European countries can have teams in the hundred. Then the ICC has set international windows like soccer/football does but longer of course. T20I and Test matches are the only two year round formats with ODI warmup mini tournaments held the year before a WC along with associates qualifications. A few nations also probably elect to get rid of their test teams but I think no matter how stuff goes that’s gonna happen in the next decade ish anyways sadly. Again I don’t know a whole lot about the situation and how any of it but that’s what I would do my best to do.

Franchise cricket is also changing rapidly with Indian franchises buying teams everywhere. Very soon the Indian franchises will be calling the shots. They may also buy players for the year and they will play in various leagues for the same franchise owner. Will make it easy to have coaching staff handling a group of 50 players all year round.

Excellent discussion as always from Sky Sports Team. I feel the talk of doom is overdone a bit. Ultimately, there will be specialist sides for each of the three formats. Possibly a couple of players playing 2 formats at best. The cricket boards will find a way to squeeze as much juice as possible. Thus, there will be more cricket without taxing players a lot.

The football system is a great example of how franchise and international game can coexist, i think icc should adopt the football model, club games can go as expected, they could even have a continental tournament for clubs like champions league. In case of internationals , 6 match series 2 t 20s 2 odis 2 tests, can be done within a month, 4 series per year, 1 club donestic tournament and 1 club continanetal. 4 months of internationals and 4 months of franchise cricket. 4 months left, do what you want with it.

Do we need T20 between international teams? We have so much of it in the leagues. Let it be there. Only have ODIs and Test cricket. Have some cricketing pitches that support bowlers. ODIs get boring f if they are just playing on conditions like T20s. It’s been a while we have seen a good bowling spell in ODIs, hence it’s dying. As per scheduling, none of these players have the audacity to criticise how busy IPL is. It drains them and it takes them almost half a year to get out of it. Yes you don’t bite the hand that feeds you but that is what it is.

And also cricket boards can give them separate contracts for each format and look after them make sure whoever sign the contract has to participate in every tournament that organised by the board no matter what. More importantly we have to sustain the game of cricket

Am a great fan of ODI and used to hate T20 , but offlate even I have started to realise the age of bilateral ODI and T20 is over . Bilateral for T20 should stop & like football players play in these leagues & only come together for world cup matches making it more sustainable & interesting. Same goes for ODI cricket but instead of leagues you can have the odd 3 nation tournaments spread across now & then finally culminating in world cup. Though I am sad to say ODI is running out of time in present age. I just wish NZ and SA manage to win one ODI world cup before the endgame. Test cricket & T20 is the future now.

Analogy: tests, ODIs, T20s to classical music, jazz and rock. You won’t fill stadiums with jazz. You can fill theatres with classical music. ODIs were a step along the way to T20. I lost interest in going to ODIs at the height of the West Indies powers after 7 hours play in the Gabba heat 40 years ago. I’ve continued to attend test cricket and more recently night time T20. Cricket needs the long game like golf needs the four day tour events and it needs the football like night out offered by T20. 7 hour 50 over games need to go. It’s no longer commercially viable in Australia anyway.

That was a valid point by Michael Atherton about boards paying ICC for an exclusive window in the FTP for your leagues. That money can be used to filter down to the other boards.

No reduction to the county championship. Spread across the entire season. Two in April (start mid-Apri); two in May, two in June, three in July, three in August and two in September (finish mid-September) with the games on Sunday to Wednesday. Put the T20 games on Friday evening. Put the fifty over games in August.

For me the solution lies in the sport of Rugby. 2 codes; red and white ball, with completely separate schedules and competitions. Players can sign contracts with whoever they like for any amount of time. White ball players would be eligible for all t20s/50 over games at international, domestic and franchise levels Red ball players would be eligible for tests, 4 day domestics with maybe some grace periods to play some white ball. To me this is the only way cricket maintains Quality, continues to grow the all formats, Keeps fans engaged

If we are to discuss the future of cricket and it's formats, the same conundrum happened a few years back with Test Cricket as well, where many were beginning (even now at certain parts of the world) to slowly write off and insisted that players root for the longest format of the game. Thanks to the WTC and the amount of quality test cricket that's being played across in the last 3-4 years (albeit very limited countries); and to the celebrity cricketers who voiced for the longest format of the game, that now it's the 50-over game that's finding it hard to place itself. as an alternative for the bilateral series, multi-national tournaments could be an option to keep things relevant to the ODIs. To be fair to the players, they're not machines either and their body can take only that much. Ben Stokes is only the start of such stories and there will be many more to come. In comparison with any other sport, Cricket is still to penetrate into lot of countries and we are still discussing just the top 15 across the world. T20 is the name bearer of the game and that's the way to expand the game across the globe. No one would've given a chance for a country like Afghanistan to be in the cricketing map, if not for the T20 format finding the gems from the country and now it has earned itself a Test status. Expand, increase the standards of the game across so you have many more countries playing quality cricket. As Ravi mentioned, you need the best quality of test cricket on showcase for the Test format to be relevant and economical. End of the day, the sport, as a passion for all is also a profession for the players, staff, broadcasters and the entire ecosystem revolving around the game. You need the game to live longer for anything to be a possibility.

Athers speaking facts as usual. One thing though: administrators of most sports have little or no foresightedness - profit takes over commonsense. Most of them saw the IPL and wanted to replicate it in their own soil, with varying results. Ravi has a bleak but fairly realistic take on the future of cricket. A franchise based model will not appeal to me or fans like me who are drawn to national rivalries, but I completely see what he is talking about when he mentions quality in test cricket. Even when we had 10 test playing nations, I've seen far too many games end far too quickly. Is this the result of navel gazing on the part of the ICC which, compared to FIBA and FIFA, don't really prioritize the growth of the game in the traditional formats -I am 39, been watching the game since I was 9. How many countries have entered the test club during this period? 3 (Bangladesh, Ireland and Afghanistan). Or is it because boards have always tacitly acknowledged that test cricket is hard, takes time for a nation to become test-ready (unlike whiteball) and win regularly, and that it's even harder to market in this day and age. These were questions to tackle before you had an IPL shaped Pandora's box that came around 2008, and these were the questions no one asked.

Ravi is bang on. 50 overs bilaterals aren't relevant anymore, world cup or league is sufficient, maybe replace by triangular tournaments and rotate players. Test cricket is more of romance so it will stay even with high costs. Take only T20s to other parts of world and it will work.

Needs to be some amount of gap between the series.. Eng side had a gap of 2 days between India and Sa series.. Odi cricket needs to survive as there are ebbs and flows..that's what we enjoy.. not smacking everywhere is called cricket

I feel T20 Bilateral series can be scrapped off and only leagues go on. ODI’s to be played as bilateral series but cut to 40 over a side or 2 innings of 25 over (as SRT had said i guess 💯 years ago ☺️😉) as ODI is bridge between T20 and tests which MUST exist.

Its a very difficult time when you know the most prioritized tournament of cricketing world is the 50 over world cup..and now that format is declining and its saddening and people should vow for it

ODI cricket is more interesting in Pacer friendly condition when batsman fight it out and even singles brings good amount of joy when condition are tough

Especially for Test Cricket- you need Mental, Physical and Technical strong players.....so it's always be quality over quantity

Other option you should see is that triangular or quad triangular series for the survival of 50 over game instead of bilateral games so that way you can save lot of time and money as well and then earn broadcasting rights through 3 or 4 different countries and distribute equally. For example india southafrica and srilanka . Then Australia nz and West indies. Then England Bangladesh Pakistan. So imagine if we play like that one tournament like this it's probably much t20 series we can make a whole lot of money to support the financially poor countries.

The bottom line remains the same or rather is very simple. Today the global cricket is being dedicated by India and after India's debacle in the Champions Trophy 2017 and the WC 2019 the global cricket is shrinking and the worst individual who is being affected is here is ODI format. If global cricket has to survive then it's quite imperative that India should win the WC and the Champions Trophy in 2025 and should increase the tri series or the 4 nation tournament's.

Planning for managing international cricket with leagues. International cricket For Test cricket There should be 3 divisions.(A, B, C) Each division should have 5 teams. Division A Team will play against their division team 2 home and 2 away series of 3 matches. (process same for division B and division C as well) Then after this, division A teams will play 4 series two home and two away with division B and C teams according to standing. (team standing no 1 in division A will get to play series with team standing at 2 and 3 of division B and series with team standing at 4 and 5 of division C. Same process for everyone. So this way accordingly after completing this whole cycle, division A : 5 th rank standing team will directly be eliminated into division B.And division B: 1st rank standing team will directly qualify into division A. Team of Division A standing at no. 04 will play a match against team of Division B standing at no. 02 and which ever team win this match will qualify as division A team. This one match will be at neutral venue to decide their future. The winner of this one match will be promoted to division A and loser will be relegated to division B. Same procedure between division B and C for promotion and relegation. (I know it is little bit complicated but I am also seeing commercial angle because there will be some intensity among B and C division teams to be in top of the is table so that they get to play series with big teams which will help them to find sponser.) According to this. Every team will play total 8 series of 3 matches each. (4 among there division and 2 in both divisions each). This should be done in 3 yrs time After this top two teams of division A should play a match at neutral venue for world test championship and winner will be crowned as champion. For odi cricket There should be divisions. Every Division should have 13 teams each. Each team should play 3 match series with every team in their respective division. So every team will play total 12 series. 6 home and 6 away series. This can be helpful in direct qualification of ICC wc (50 overs) After the cycle is completed in 3 year span, Top 9 teams will directly qualified for the wc and host team will get automatic qualification. The bottom 3 teams of division A will play against top 3 teams of division B in single round Robin format and top 2 teams will then qualify for wc. To make ODI cricket interesting they can add a rule like there should be 4 points for one Odi match 3 points will be given to winning team of the match but 1 points will be given to the team that scores more runs in half stage for example suppose team A has scored 140 runs in first inning of first 25 overs then team B has to score more that 140 runs within their first 25 over so that they can get 1 point. This can really make the points table interesting. For t20. There should be divisions Every Division should have 25 teams in it. Every team will play 24 series of 1matches 12 home and 12 away for span of 3 years. Top 4 teams from division 2 will get promoted and last 4 teams will be demoted. After completion of this cycle,the team standing top 20 should directly be qualified and host nation will also get the entry. And teams standing top 3 in division B will get entry into division A for next cycle. And top 2 teams of division B will qualify for wct20. So the wc will be of 24 teams divided into 8 groups and then top teams in each group will play quarter final and then semis and final. This will create good opportunity for other people to opt cricket as carrier. The franchise should follow the man city model where they buy more franchise in different leagues for example say knight riders have franchise in many leagues so they can put young player in Australia,Newzealand .south african league and when the player is mature he can play in any south asian league and at time of player later stage he can be moved in carribian or america or england league. It will help all the boards financially. All leagues will create it's own identity and will flourish accordingly. South asian region should be made as a powerhouse of cricket where all talented player will come to play just like how europe is for footballers. There should be uefa champions league type tournment for south asian leagues it will make things more exciting. For south asian league cricket model.(UEFA type) This tournament should take place in November every year. The format will include qualifier. The tournment will consist of total 30 matches in one season. 12 teams will participate in qualifier which will have 4 groups of 3 teams Top team from each group will have to play the semifinal and then final of the the qualifier because the winner will compete in main leg of the tournment. 7 teams from IPL (4 directly qualify and rest 3 have to play qualifier), PSL (6 teams ; 3 directly qualify and 3 will play eliminator) and 5 teams BPL (2 will directly qualify and rest 3 have to play the qualifier) 4 teams from LPL (2 will directly qualify and rest 2 have to play qualifier) .1 team will come from league winner of Afghanistan or Nepal respectively. 11 teams will directly qualify for the main leg of the tournament because of their performance in their respective league and another 1 teams will qualify by playing in qualifier. Winning teams of American continent league, african continent league, European and Australia continent will play in single round robin format and then the table topper will face the champion of south Asian league team in final for franchise cricket world cup.

The best thing we should do is to make more tournament like asia cup . With more teams in it. Like africa cup , Europe cup , America cup. That too with atleast 7-10 teams in each cup. So that we can have atleast 3-4 team from every continent for world cup. We should also start touring to smaller nation regularly like Netherlands, Ireland Afghanistan and many more. And provide them continuous quality cricket.
