Gary Neville was really just this 1 simple thing, reliable. There's so many modern talented footballers, way more blessed than Neville without the mentality, same goes for Carragher. That's a lost art on today's players. . If Neymar, Hazard & the Pogba's of this world had the mindset&attitude of these 2 imagine what could've been.

Same when you realised despite them playing against each other throughout most of their careers they equally played together for almost as long with the England team.

I honestly loved Berbatov more than Tevez. I don't know if it was because of Tevez going to City or not, but Berbatov brought a certain...finesse to the team. He was extremely talented and gifted. Tevez was a little workhorse, but Berba had some really world-class touches and finishes that elevated our performance. I don't think anyone will ever forget that play on the touchline to get around the West Ham defender and set up the goal for Ronaldo (and Tevez was actually in that match). Not taking anything away from Tevez, but Berbatov just captivated me whenever I watched him.

@@Reseed don't get me wrong, we've had a wealth of talent come and go through the team, but when I think back to those years, I'm glad we had Rooney, but we saw the likes of Berbatov and Van Persie come through. Rooney is world-class, but those two players just captivated me with their technical ability. Everything was calculated and precise. Of course they had their off days, but you could see exactly why they were brought into the side and how they fit into the team. Rooney to be that presence up top, Ronaldo the presence on the wing, and that special someone to be the glue between the two. That was Berba in my eyes.

My own personal opinion is that berbatov ruined the partnership of tevez and Rooney Listen to patrice evra describe what it was like having two pitbulls up front That season we won Premier league and champions league That was probably Fergusons best team along with the 99 team Berbatov was a class act but he was a bit of a failure in the end never worked out. Fergie signed berbatov and dropped tevez, we became a weaker side I truly believe the Rooney tevez partnership was unbelievable They performed much better together than Rooney berbatov I just think Fergie had a fascination with the Bulgarian, he was going to play no matter what. Brilliant as always chaps.. Gary, what a very profound point you made ‘loyalty will be reflected in your after-career’ - totally agree, look how people view Michael Owen in the media these days…

Ashley Cole bucks the rule of leaving a boyhood club to a fierce rival and it being the right decision. Won everything at club level and became the best LB in PL history, even though he burned his bridges at Arsenal. Hard to admit coming from an arsenal fan.

Problem is, you have to be as good and consistent as Ashley Cole was cause if your not you would get no hate whatsoever from both fanbases now.

Would it have been that bad if he had stayed? Might not have won as many medals but would still be rich and a league and club and England legend. Instead he has that big dark stain on his record as a bit of a mercenary.

Forlan was one of those players who was at the right club at the wrong time. Just think, a few years later we had Rooney, Ronaldo and TEVEZ ripping it up, and if you put Forlan in there instead of Tevez I fail to see how it couldn't have worked out. But the Utd side that he actually did join had a very different dynamic and one he obviously struggled to adapt to fully.

With Tevez money was obviously a major factor but I also think he wanted to be the star of the team and with Ronaldo & Rooney he would always be part of a three rather than the main man.

Liverpool all time 11: (442) Allison Trent - Van Dijk - Carragher - Robertson Salah - Alonso - Gerrard - Mané Suarez - Torres Agree? Haven’t seen the players before 2006ish play, so maybe Dalglish or Owen for Torres?
