Sue Smith and Danny Mills discussed Chelsea's 4-4 draw with Manchester City on an eventful Super Sunday.
Cole Palmer netted a stoppage-time penalty against his former club Manchester City to rescue a point for Chelsea in a pulsating, eight-goal Premier League classic at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer, who swapped his boyhood club for Chelsea in the summer, held his nerve to beat Ederson as Mauricio Pochettino's side came from behind for a third time in a breathless game.

You can make a mistake but not necessarily be a regret, they arent mutually exclusive. City will be fine without him, they got decent money for him, and they still have great quality, for Chelsea, he's now worth more than they paid and been great and fits the team perfect. People always talk about how Chelsea regret selling KDB, but fact is, he was 21 and wasn't gonna get regular minutes under Mourinho in that team of stars, then wasn't great until a few years into life at Wolfsburg. Considering Chelsea won 10 major trophies around the time KDB was at Chelsea and just after, it's really hard to state that it was a regret.

We would not be seeing this version of Cole Palmer if he'd stayed at City as there are too many players ahead of him for him to get enough minutes. City were able to then sign Doku who's the type of player they were missing. Sometimes a transfer just suits all parties.

There was absolutely no mistake, it's not as if he hadn't already shown us his potential during his fleeting City appearances .... .... as with Gabriel Jesus before him, Pep and everyone at City knew only too well of Cole Palmers promise and capabilities whilst he was still with us, but Pep couldn't guarantee him more game time, and other players were blocking his way anyway ..... it was purely down to Cole Palmer himself to make the choice to leave to try to further his club and young international career, which he did ...... nobody at City resents him for his decision, and we clearly saw that after the match last night with all the hugs and handshakes etc, we totally understood why he felt the need to leave, and we wish him well.

Chelsea looked a much improved team in their win at Spurs to me, and confidence was clearly returning .... so I predicted a tough game for us, and so it proved to be. But City are not the easiest opposition to try to get the better of, even if you ARE full of confidence, and as well as Chelsea played, City will definitely be disappointed that, after going 4-3 up near the end, we didn't manage the game out to take all three points, but that's the game of football for you, it's never over til' it's over !

Palmer was insignificant in the game. He only scored a penalty which he didn't create. He was dribble down by Doku. Man City got the appropriate substitute for all players except John Stones whose injury was a huge challenge for pep. Leading to city's defense conceding 4 goals. This game was a 11 against 10. Pep never keeps players that want to leave. He got rid of Joao Cancelo who was contributing wayyyy more than Palmer and the club went on to win the treble. He is the main man. The players are somewhat nterchangeable.

He had no chance of playing. Foden, Alvares, Bernardo, Grealish and Doku all ahead of him. Its why he never played any meaningful minutes last year. He didnt start a game until the title was won and even then it was only 2. Never came on as a sub until City were up at least 3 goals.

Difference between Palmer and Foden is that Foden was willing to wait. Palmer wanted to play. Same with Salah at Chelsea. Player felt he was ready. Let's not forget Lewis Hall was also let go because he felt he was ready. Too bad he can't get game time

City only wants players that want to be at the club and are ready to fight for their place and a shirt. Does that differ are free to go and that was the case with palmer. And we now got Jeremy Doku. He is barely 3 months under Pep's tutulage and already terrifying. What will happen when he spents about 2 seasons?

It big advantage that Cole transferred to Chelsea, I will said two , first Cole will be in main form , second thing may be Cole can be in main form for National team , because almost 4 of man city players are in National tram Johnston, walker , greltsh , filfoden so it is hard to take fifth one in mancity then it might be possible and have a chance for Cole to be in National team ❤❤❤

@@xpds5543yeah mate it's bollocks, palmer came to chelsea because he is 21 and wanted to play regularly. He is getting that now and if he carries on progressing as he is, he could well challenge lamps and Azpi to be our best value signing ever.

@@dewiwilliams4821 Not a chance, £11m for Frank and £7m for Dave. Even with inflation £40 m will never be a bargain unless he turns out to be Chelsea’s best ever player. Don’t talk crap
@dewiwilliams4821
@dewiwilliams4821 6 ай бұрын
@@derkinsdaemon it's not just inflation in terms of money mate, it's inflation of transfer market in general. Look at the money clubs are paying for top talent these days and I do think 10m in early 2000s is 30/40m today. If Palmer gives chelsea 10 years and can play an important part in winning trophies, then I do think he will be a bargain comparable to lamps and azpi. You can say I am talking crap but saying that does not make it so mate, and I stand by my opinion.

I think he fits Chelsea’s style of counter attacking play vs cities pure possession. He still wouldn’t get into the city side. Foden provides the same if not better quality in a purely high possession based team.
