Never flew the MD-90 I think sadly. You're lucky, I wish this plane was more widespread. I think I flew the MD-83 a long time ago. Hope to fly the 717 before its gone.

It is true this aircraft had one more takeoff after this flight. It was ferried from Atlanta to Blytheville, Arkansas. This was the last revenue takeoff.

I wish aircraft sounded like this. Although sometimes the "vacuum cleaners" can sound cool if it has some bass. WIll really miss the sound of low bypass jets. Who knows, maybe the transition from fossil fuel consuming aircraft to hybrid/electric/hydrogen(?) will bring some similar sounding aircraft.

Also, if you like these sounds, listen to this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/br-TmJqLqMvMgnU.html It's literally music to the ears, which makes sense as sine waves travel in a similar way. Around the 5:00 mark, engine 2 starts up while engine 1accelerates, and it just sounds insanely cool.

I feel you .... luckily enough there;s still some subtle buzz going on with the PW1100G engines on maximum thrust...

@@ipetross Also, an A220 or Bombardier C-series as its original producer was, has a very cool startup sound and there is some subtle buzzsaw as you said. And the whale noises are kind of unique. A320 NEO as well

It is in the same family. Different engine though. This sounds similar to an A320, which makes sense as its the same engine type.

This was a departure from IAH - Houston George Bush Intercontinental.

I believe it’s actually a FAA requirement that part 139 airports with ARFF units, “inspect” their trucks daily. I believe that includes running water through the pumps to make sure that everything on the truck is working properly. Wouldn’t want to show up to an actual emergency and the pumps are not working. So, I would imagine, if they know this is going to happen on a certain day, they probably just use this as their test to make sure the pumps are working. Are they going to use a little extra water? Probably. But, if you have to do it anyways.
