Estranged, one of the most difficult songs for Slash to play live. The feedback and sustain he needs to achieve to play the song being the main reason.

There's a rig rundown video where his tech explains how they do it. They have amp cabs mic'd under the stage, when Slash turns to face him that's the sign to flip a switch to get the feedback. If you want more detailed search his rig rundown, and choose the one that says "Duff, Slash, and Rob Fortis"

I mean, endless feedback/sustain isn’t very hard to get when you’re playing at that volume level lol. Just find that “sweet spot” near your amp where things start singing and you’re good to go. Sustain for as long as you want.

@@deangullberry5148 Yeah. His tech said that when they do 'Knockin on Heavens Door' he'd use two different amps on his double neck, one for the 12 string and one for the 6 string. And he'd watch Slash' hand movements during the song to predict when he had to switch amps. Absolutely ridiculous, but just so badass aswell haha.

I remember when this first came out, I was 20 yrs old and while everyone else was on about Nov rain, don't cry, you could be mine, I couldn't get enough of Estranged. Eventually people caught on but it took about 20 years. I've loved this song for over 30 years and it never gets old but I do

I can remember when i first started playing guitar in 1990, and all i wanted was to achieve his tone. At the time, i wasn't aware of all the details like pickups, pedals, etc... so me with my 3 single coil Strat was always let down and figured i just sucked at playing.
