Respect for Zizek, he is one of the last truly free thinkers out there. He doesn't let left-wing and right-wing ideologists fool him. They want to put everyone in either of those categories, and they don't understand that politics is more complex than "us against them".

I myself am middle-eastern (Iranian) and sth that is surprisingly being ignored about middle-easterners (Especially with Arabs) is the fact that we ourselves are quite right leaning! There are Turkish gangsters in Germany who kill the Turks who married non-Turks and when asked why they killed their fellow Turk, they usually say things like "Because we shall protect our kin". They famously refuse to assimilate into Germany's culture by choice! Of course not all Turks.. I am not for racism. Even middle-easterners cringe at this term "Islamophobia". I think Muslim-phobia is more of a problem. How the hell is this region supposed to progress when we can't even criticize Muslims OUTSIDE the middle-east? Of course we should accept and respect them as a part of society but acceptance and respect makes sense when it goes both ways. Go to the most Islamic country where this religion came from (Saudi Arabia) that has been isolated and untouched for the most part. Ask them about gender segregation and the LGBT stuff then you see how Arab culture is narrow and close minded for the most part and you keep selling them weapons! They are one of the obvious root of the problem but there is more sanctions on the average Iranian who is more open-minded than the average Saudi Arabian who supports their murderous regime. At least in Iran we are shouting that we are not his barbaric regime. This forced integration is NOT an answer. Especially this image of all middle-easterners being easily offended Muslims who we should avoid offending and only react to when they go ISIS mode. I honestly don't know whose side to take ....

It's so atrocious. Why can't they fix their own country. Instead you take from those citizens who did the "right" suffering and tears over generations. It's our own government who did this to America. They have slavery and native atrocities that haven't been resolved. How do genocides happen? When a population of people are assumed to take from the people of that country/states' members.

Zizek is only partly right. Many so called refugees come from places or nations that are relatively speaking just doing fine. Some of those places are even tourist destinations (from Morocco and Egypt to India). But even when it's true, most of the time there doesn't exist an individual reason to seek asylum in the West. It's clearly defined international who has the right for asylum and who not, the problem is that the system gets thwarted by moronic activists, ideologues, and those who benefit personally from an influx of refugees. And of course, by those who actually want mass migration into the West... Google: "BBC EU should undermine national homogeneity says UN migration chief"

That's the thing though isn't it, I recognize that America often has a part to play in disruption overseas but why harm the American working people for the failures and corrupt decisions made by the elite? Ultimately these people let in will become voters who help keep certain politicians in power and not rely on the citizen voting bloc anymore. Capitalism benefits from mass and illegal immigration not workers, Cesar Chavez knew that half a century ago. Marx knew that in the late 1800s. Hell, even the folks who started Chaz in Seattle knew that which is why they made barricades to keep certain people out. Also, I've never met anyone else who considered themselves a "conservative socialist". I identify with that term as well since my social views tend to be more conservative leaning, especially my cultural views. "Cultural" meaning the unofficial ethical code the people adhere to as opposed to actual government policy.

Zizek doesnt say, he only says it needs to be openly discussed, but you can infer he believes in the superiority of leftist values over traditional muslim values which would mean in a possible future a common ground between leftist and conservative positions and a governmental crackdown on traditional muslim culture. Thats a pretty bad look in itself because this could be construed as white supremacy and will surely trigger anti-colonial sentiment from migrant communities, but it gets even more controversial because some rightwingers apparently agree with the muslim position on the denial of gay rights, womens rights etc., how do you form a coalition then?

It is international with sections in the US, Caribbean, Mexico, Colombia, Africa, Asia , and close friends in Europe. We reject socialism. While the Russian and Chinese Revolutions made great contributions to our history, they ultimately failed due to corruption in the model of socialism which maintains the capitalist monetary system and for their concessions to nationalism and failure to learn from these strategic weaknesses. We believe in egalitarian communism from day one. No privilege and no wage labor. We have had a proud history in the workplace and in the the fight against racism and racist police terror for over 50 years. See our web site at www.plp.org. Sure, it is true that conservatives themselves don't believe in the strength of their societies maintaining their own culture due to the fear of mass migration, but it's nonetheless logical. If we would like to "conserve" the Amazon rainforest, we can project our trust in the ecosystem's ability to equilibrate after some time when another species is introduced, but when we constantly input new species, radically change the habitats, and use up the resources to help more input regardless if they're beneficial to the rest of the biosphere or not, because of "goodwill" then there won't be breathing time to equilibrate, there will be no benefits to go there in the first place, there will be no amazon, and all of that "pride" will count for nothing. It's absurd to replace species in the rainforest to "revitalise" the community, yet not even trying to solve the causes for the problems in these communities in the first place. We should welcome new species as long as they find their place definitely, but not to completely change the rainforest to suit them to the point of being unrecognisable.

@jamiemb17 3 жыл бұрын
@@Petard01 you're delusional if you think large unfiltered masses of people can come from third-world countries into developed ones and just integrate into the native population without dragging it down in any way. Look at the situation in places like France, London, Sweden...there is little evidence to suggest such integration is happening with refugees. I can only say that the Indian Hindu and Sikh populations in the UK seem to me to be the only ethnic minority group in the country that has really integrated, maybe because they were higher-class Indians who were wealthier and more educated and intelligent, maybe because their religious values are less dissimilar to Britain's traditional values, I don't know. But they feel very distinct to the refugee type of immigrants we are seeing now. You can't bring in groups of average 80 IQ people with strong, conflicting religious values and little-to-no outstanding skills or education, and just expect it to work. But obviously if you're rich enough for it to not concern you as you can just live in wealthy areas of the country, then you don't need to worry about it so much.

It's a nice anecdote from you, but do you know how much trouble the police have with many of these so-called refugees? The crime rate is immense. @@knightheaven8992 That's a good question. I would generally see the following possibilities. But first of all, our countries should no longer participate in arms deliveries to terrorist groups in war zones. No more proxy wars for oil. In such war zones, depending on the situation, one could establish a security zone with the help of the resident states or a moderate group such as the Kurds, with decent houses, water and food supplies and electricity. This could possibly also happen in a neighboring country in cooperation with the respective state. You could also organize teachers to teach the children positive values and knowledge there. This would be also an investment for the future of the country.

@@ryangoodyer9450 What do you suggest then? that we intervene even further in more foreign countries? More Aid to Africa? because that has been working great for the last 50 years or so... The refugee crisis isn't always created by us for one. lots of Migrants that reach my country for example, they are not even Syrians or from countries at war. Every country in the world, every place, has its own peculiarities, and circumstances, and they are not always easily fixed. Seldom are actually. Also as Zizek mention, it is appalling that plenty of rich stable countries in Africa, and Middle east and such, dont have refugees. They all aim to reach Europe. Do you think this is so by necessity? by coincidence? walls work very well, they seem to work for some countries, and when i mean walls, they dont need to be physical. @@knightheaven8992 the problem is Europe should stop playing the nice guy card with US and most of the rich arab countries . Your countries will soon suffer from an economic crisis, let alone a shift in political powers . Is closing your borders to refugees is good ? For the refugees it is not, but if Europe does that, it will expose those rich Arab countries and the US . You shouldn't close your borders simply, you should also side with poorer middle eastern and African countries, cause the US and Saudi are pushing poorer countries to let in refugees . Europe should take a clear stance from the countries that are involved in the Syrian war. It's a nice notion, and probably a better idea over all, to try to help people in their own country instead of simply letting them come to ours, but I'm going to throw out a controversial opinion here: What if the reason the countries these people live in are awful is because the people are not capable of running a country successfully due to hereditary issues of intelligence? A country is more than its laws, a country is its people- People are inherently unequal, and therefore so must countries be.

What you don't understand, among several other things, is that if a horde of migrants come to Slovenja, they will not be settling near your cozy, modern apartment in center Ljubiana, they'll be settled near some social blocks of apartments with parents who have 16, 17, 18, y.o. daughters who want to wear short skirts and come home when it's dark among other things, and those people come from Muslim societies which have a different perception of how women should behave in society.

But his points on refugees were actually EXACT the points of Alternative für Deutschland (AFD) AND other conservatives around this topic. Yet he distances himself by extremely simplifying the conservative stance to Trumps "Wall Game" or "they are Bad versus we are good" mentality. Zizek is only partly right. Many so called refugees come from places or nations that are relatively speaking just doing fine. Some of those places are even tourist destinations (from Morocco and Egypt to India). But even when it's true, most of the time there doesn't exist an individual reason to seek asylum in the West. It's clear defined international who has the right for asylum and who not, the problem is that the system gets thwarted by moronic activists, ideologues, and those who benefit personally from an influx of refugees. And of course by those who actually want mass migration into the West... Google: "BBC EU should undermine national homogeneity says UN migration chief"
