This is classic Slayer. Good stuff. I tore up many pits back in the day during their shows. My old ass couldn't do that now.

Dennis Cooke You’re so lucky. My generation doesn’t have all the killer thrash/death metal bands you guys did. I would’ve fucking loved to be in a brutal 80’s pit. Like the Toxic Waltz video.

@@TheCooke2001 damn, I'm sure you still got it tho champ! I've only seen slayer one time at a "Big Three" show a decade ago. Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer, at their "Seasons" anniversary... I'm not that much into them anymore but I still respect them

Yeah you could Dennis! I'm 48 and saw them 3 times in the last two years...Drove 6 hours to see them in St. Louis. I was a bit tired, sweaty and dehydrated by the end of five hours in the pit with five great bands playing but I loved every second!! Don't let your age define you!!!

Didn't see anyone post this but if you play the vinyl version backwards they are saying "Join Us!" And it can be a tough song to like I'm sure plus for Slayer fans probably the hardest lyrics to remember and recite though it's one of my personal Slayer faves.

Hey man, this album has influenced so many youngsters to pick up a guitar or beg their parents for a drum set, me being one of them. This is CLASSIC Slayer, it's fucking beautiful, the chaotic delivery is intentional. When I heard it in my teens in the 80's it lit a fire in me that is still with me today. Sorry you don't dig it, but I totally understand why, just not your thing.

Exactly, the chaotic growling lyrics are supposed to represent an evil maniac (maybe even a demon) narrating what's happening in hell. The atmosphere of this album is pure evil. Great stuff.

Hell Awaits, sinners. Such a straight up diabolical record. Crank it up and you can smell the sulfur. I imagine Old Scratch, Lucifer Morningstar, at the mixing board, wisps of smoke coming off his fingers, smiling at the band. "Yes, this is acceptable to me. You've done well. Now, gentlemen, if you will just sign here."

This is classic Thrash, that's what it's suppose to sound like. Very aggressive and fast paced. Early Slayer kicked ass. Sorry you didn't really enjoy it.

🤘SLAYER🤘 Need more SLAYER!! Not the best Slayer to start out with, give em another chance. Songs I think you'll like are Dead Skin Mask, South of Heaven, Skeletons of Society, Mandatory Suicide. Those songs are more grove oriented/slower than this song, this song was more speed metal.

Raw & uncut Slayer in the early days, got to be a Metalhead for awhile to rock to Tom Araya's voice in the early days. Not my fav, but your right about the intro, so badass classic Slayer. I still can rock this tho this isn't the best ofTom's singing. Appreciate you giving it a try brother.

I feel the same way about the vocals - check out the live version on "Decade of Aggression", it's far superior and is an amazing live album as far as audio quality and band performance.

Welcome to the backmasking sounds of hell, lol ! Slayer style. Yeah, early slayer, and slayer in general can be muddy. It’s thrash, and in slayers minds, should be imperfect, and messy, a little off in every way.

The part at the begginning is saying "Join Us" only backwards to give it that effect. Not the best song for the casual listener for sure. Try Devildriver - Bitter Pill or Sail ( cover )

Ill be honest, as an old school metal head since I was ten, listening to Pantera, Metallica and Megadeth I just never got into Slayer much at all. A song here and there maybe, but really they are just a one trick pony and the musicianship never really impressed me. I know they are legendary but just not for either of us I guess.

One trick pony; That's blasphemous nonsense. I cannot take seriously anyone over the age of 13 who still listens to Pantera. Slayer is a different kind of music, an acquired taste to be sure, but certainly not for everyone.
