Yes. They blended all of those traits and sounds together perfectly. Reign in blood is a perfect album Front to back, and all of the others before that were great as well. They released a few more good ones after reign too. I started losing interest with divine intervention, but it’s definitely not a bad album.

Recorded live at Wembley Arena London 15th October 1990. I was at this gig (Clash of the Titans tour, Megadeth, Slayer,Testament and Suicidal Tendencies). They ran through the song twice, once on tape then once LIVE to get sufficient footage for the video.

My opinion Iron Maiden had more like a melodic solo and story line on every songs. It is between rock and metal genre. Slayer is just purely Thrash. It's a different dimension to compare.

Or they would have known it's about the Nazi doctor Joseph Megele. The lyrics describe what he did to his victims. And his nickname was "Angel of Death" hence the song name.

Slayer, to this day, remains the only *scary* band I’ve ever seen…and I’ve seen a LOT of metal and shock rock acts live. Ozzfest (98 or 99, I can’t remember) they were on the main stage. I was 14 years old, waiting for them to go on and looking at these ENORMOUS stacks of Marshalls bathed in red light with fog everywhere. It was almost panic-inducing…

It was a real shame to listen or love them in 1996 in USSR. But I, a soviet pioneer at age of 12, was their fan. Even could fall asleep with Slayer in headphones on. Now I’m 47, and love them too. No comparisons, even rest 2 of Great 3. Slayer is #1.

If you get the chance listen to BATHORY. 1st album and 2nd album, Under the sign of the black mark is the second album. These 2 albums to me are scarier than any Slayer album however Slayer are by far a more talented. Bathory is all about the dark, eerie and haunting ambience. Definitely some scary and terrifying music. Enjoy!

Well.... That super crazy part where the tempo jumps is, I believe something like 5-3-2-0 6-4-2-0 repeating Recorded at roughly 215bpm, all 16th notes for about 10 measures. Playing that *cleanly* is hard as fuck, yo. Playing that without getting tired and being able to make it through the rest of the song is hard in it's own right.

Arguably the best part of a Slayer show is hearing the fans go ape poop when the first 3 drum beats are played. The wave of cheering is intense, you feel it in your chest. What's great is there's old farts in the audience like me and 16 year olds who were there for another band and you see minds being blown when the masters take the stage.

They have completely redefined metal. They are directly responsible for the entirety of extreme metal. Venom, Mercyful Fate and Discharge were the most outragious things existing until Slayer came up.
