Slayer is thrash royalty, I have been a fan since '85. Their music is fast and the guitars have always been haunting, it's their Hallmark sound. Their lyrics have always been controversial and uncomfortable, they tackle topics that are taboo. With that said, they had some slower stuff, but not much, they stayed true to their thrash genre their whole career. 🤘

I would say the drums have been their hallmark sound more than the guitars. Definitely not taking anything away from Kerry and Jeff, R.I.P Jeff Hanneman, but Dave Lombardo ties it all together!!!

@@randywissler9923 Dave is amazing and yes, he ties it all together. The guitars have always had that epic, cathedral, high tuned sound that when you hear it, you know it's Slayer. Tom sets the bass foundation and sings his ass off. There are no removable parts. I'm just happy to have listened to them for near 4 decades and still luv it!

More Slayer. Mandate Suicide, South of Heaven, Angel of Death We seem to like the same bands. Huge Korn and Slipknot fan and discovered Slayer last year and their guitar and drum work are unreal

There ain't no bad slayer song.. Raining Blood is one of their most popular songs,, with Angel of Death, South of Heaven, War Ensemble, Dead Skin Mask, Seasons in the Abyss, Silent Scream, Mandatory Suicide..I can go on writing.. Any slayer song you pick is great.. When I introduce someone to Slayer I play him War Ensemble (the official video)

I'm a little curious as to the appeal of these two. I don't think I've seen (out of comedy and sarcasm) two more uncomfortable people. I know this seems harsh but its like a skit I've seen on classic SNL from the 70's.

First: good luck with your platform. Second: let me ask you - you know how "new age" people see all living things in the universe as "inter-connected?" That we all have a special energy that connects us to each other? Well - music is a lot like that. Music is interconnected. Every artist has his / her own influences. The thing to remember about Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth & Anthrax (the big 4 of thrash metal bands) - is that they were all fans of West Coast punk bands (early 80s) and so Slayer's music - even more than the others - reflects that influence. This song is pure thrash. This is what LA-based punk bands in the early 80's all wished they could sound like. Slayer took their punk influences and melded it with their metal sound. This song is chaotic, violent and high-octane. By the way - Nirvana and the grunge bands of the 90's also had heavy punk influences. So i hope you get a chance to listen to all 3 genres - and you will start to see the "inter-connectedness" of this music. Thanks for this reaction. And again, good luck !!

Very Unpopular Opinion Due to the popularity of this Song From Slayer and Thrash metal but, for me this is the second least favourite song on this album. The last part with the drumming and rythm guitar going fast like hell carries it for me (Solo is garbage, Kerry King in a Nutshell..) , other than that I think people looses quite a couple of gems on this album besides the singles.

I agree lol, for me it’s probably Reborn tho for the weakest track on RiB. My favorite is either Epidemic or Jesus Saves, Angel of Death is number one always but I’ve heard it so many times I don’t really play it anymore.

@@fuckwad2024 Yeah Angel Of Death is Undeniably, the best one. I think Reborn is strong mostly because of its lyrics, the weakest i would say is Piece by Piece but its still really good.

Lyrics don’t matter in metal, it’s about the vibe. Paul McCartney is right btw about determining the meaning of a song. This is how I come at it; I read the title “raining blood”, ok what’s that gonna be about? I think about it, and now when I hear his voice I really just hear it as another instrument adding to that vibe. I have never gotten how people focus so hard on what they’re saying (obv it makes sense if ur watching a lyric video lol). I really don’t like messages in music, because the music should just be the message. That’s why I love Metal so much, and why I love the type of metal where you can’t understand the lyrics at all so much. I’m sure you would hate that, it’s called Brutal Death Metal. The vocalists growl and scream and gurgle instead of singing. Much prefer that
