This song came out in 2018, exactly 2 weeks after I lost a friend from school, I didn't know sleep token then, I heard them for the first time in 2020, I fell in love with their album sundowing and decided to listen to their previous songs , I came across this song and remembered her instantly, as I do every time I hear it. She always wore a smile, no one could guess everything she was going through, how much they hurt her, how much they broke her, how far they took her. Since she took her own life, I decided to be that person you can always talk to. I may not always have advice or an idea on how to solve your problems, but at least I will be there to listen to you so you can let everything out. Talking but above all listening can save lives. Omg guys, you made my day. I can’t believe you shouted me out! I loved seeing the emotional resonance with both of you. This is sad music. And whether you like it or not there more where that came from. I do believe that “Hey Ya” comes before this in the discography. Only because I think this is a better lead in to Sundowning but Hey Ya can do what it does just as effectively. But none of the singles move the plot as much as they give some back story to lead into the trilogy. So I believe this is a different “dine on old encounters” thing. We see Vessel and Eden in a church here, it looks like a funeral. Eden’s ghost is there and waiting for Vessel to show himself and I don’t think he ever did. His guilt stopped him then and now Eden is just beyond Vessel’s reach. It’s a dream, God knows how many times he has relived this to this point. Vessel and Eden loved each other the best that they could have while being completely awful at it. So often people from traumatic backgrounds rely on other people in relationships to find their ground and find their happiness. When those people are relying on people just as damaged as they are the results can be tragic in many ways. He’s trying to reach out to Eden wherever she is and tell her that despite the tragic end and she now being gone, he still acknowledges her pain. He still feels the sting of life without her and that he regrets not being better for her when she needed him. Ultimately in the end it is all for deaf ears because Eden, of course, is not there. Eden still haunts him as a ghost though. He will not be able to live down the shame of letting his love disassemble before him. Sleep keeps giving him these dreams to wear him down. She keeps telling him she will come. She is full of empty promises. She is just watching the man pick himself apart but what Sleep did not foresee is Vessel starting to become softer being surrounded by the memories of Eden. He is beginning to see that maybe they were indeed damaged people and that maybe he wasn’t the answers that Eden needed. There is a healing aspect to that. Abandoning at least part of the responsibility for how bad things got between them. Notice the new mask Vessel has is no longer blocking his mouth. Vessel has the ability to speak that there was a problem. I think this shows some aspect that Vessel can control how restrictive his mask is. And that it caters to what he is feeling. The darker he is the more oppressive the mask is. We will see it cover his whole face again later on. Sleep now has to move to stop the progress Vessel is making in finding closure in the death of Eden. Knowing he is worthy of some kind of love since Eden had indeed loved him at one point. Sleep now has to give him something he wants. And he will never be the same…. Worship. Sundowning is such a treat. I’m so excited for you guys. I hope it comes this week! You guys are so lovely. I’m with you to the end.

This is one of those Sleep Token songs whose lyrics have always hit me really hard emotionally. I have always felt that the girl in the video was a memory and is not really there. Which is why at the end she's not there! Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

I tear up every darn time I hear this song. I think Vessel is realizing at this point in the journey that he can throw so much more emotion into a song that perhaps he didn't quite grasp before. He was great with emotional depth before, but there was something here, RIGHT here, that he had to make known. It's stunningly beautiful, tragically sad, and deeply felt all the way around. I love it when reactors listen to Sleep Token from the very beginning. Aside from his incredible voice, Vessel's lyrical composition is just outstanding. He's a great storyteller with deep lyrics. Words cannot describe how it feels to see & hear this band in the flesh. They are incredible live!!
