After buying the individual lesson, I purchased the "Learn To Play C6 Lap Steel" download, and in my opinion it's well worth checking out. Tons of information, tabs, explanations, examples of techniques, a great selection of songs to learn/play, etc. Not affiliated in any way, but believe in giving props to individuals like this, it's as advertised. Also, after purchasing, I had a download question and Joe responded within 30 minutes. Lap steel is an underrated instrument, just love the amazing range of possible tones, especially paired with some delay and reverb. Looking forward to learning more, thanks JoeDoc:)

Thank you , Kelly! Much appreciated. I'm always glad to answer questions - lap steel still fascinates me after many years of guitar, bass and lap steel playing. Such a beautiful instrument with surprising flexibility. Thanks so much for your support :) best, joe

C6 Lap Steel lessons are pretty sparse here on KZfaq and as a beginner Lap Steel player, what I found was more advanced for what I wanted or I didn't like their teaching style. For the price of what it would cost for an hour Lap Steel lesson you can Purchase Joe's 2 CD set. It's very well laid out and easy to follow and after watching just few short video's you can grasp the basic concepts that would make this video less intimidating to a beginner. I'm enjoying his videos and after for months of frustration, I finally have a sense of direction on this instrument. Thanks Joe

Joe did a great job. I can highly recommend the Sleep walk lesson and especially the C6 lap steel ebook. I played guitar for 30 years and this year I went into Weissenborn, Dobro and lap steel. For C6 the ebook covers everything you wanna know - basics, theory, lessons, licks and many more!

I have goofed around with sliding on my Strat, so when I tried Sleepwalk as my first lap steel piece, it has worked out well. My last step is to add the harmonics, and I am working on that now. I am a pro music teacher, jazz player, so I will end up sneaking my Gretsch Electromatic into our gigs! Great arrangement, and thanks!

I'm coming to lap steel from dobro, and always play with picks. Instead of using the finger tip for harmonics (there's no fleshy part of the finger available when I'm using picks), I use the palm of my hand, which works fine and for me and feels more natural. Thanks for a great lesson.

Hello JoeDocMusic, Back in the C6 mood again. I inherited a huge stash of vintage "Western & Square-dance" band instruments and ended up with a Pineapple MOT Yellow Volu-tone C6er no amp. A few years back. I converted it to a P-90 with new mini pots as it's super small. Almost like a violin size. Does the job and has some mojo. Then in the last few days of 2019 (as I write) I just scored a matching ensemble of the same Volu-tone with the Amp (no energizer?) So maybe late 1936... it is a 2 prong at the GTR with the BNC round washer type of screw to a stereo TRS on the amp end?. It is very played, yet minty fresh. Taking it to my amp tech near Sacramento (Skip Simmons Vintage Amp) he goes to the guitar show every year coming up very soon. Just thought I would say hey. Little tiny amp with black and big bottle tubes. Things like this are only original once. It needs to be brought up slow on his Variac, after testing the tubes. It's a time capsule in the case, mucho candy. A gold braided 2 rings bar and a Bakelite bar. Literally Christmas from who knows why? eBay 250 delivered? I thought I was getting it from LA turned out to be in Japan with a Master Navy man who MAC Flighted it via USPS To my place and it got delivered! You sound Amazing and as always inspire so many...Peace and Maximum Respect ~ Loo in Willerz, Ca. I-5 north
