After going and picking up this 1940 Chevrolet COE pickup truck for the ‪@TurninRust‬ ‪@RESTORED-HOPE‬ channel a few weeks ago it is now time for it to go back to their shop to get Restored. So Lance has sent ‪@Crossthe_line‬ to come pick this truck up and haul it back to Texas and his Cummins swapped 5 speed 85 Mercury Grand Marquis 4x4 is one of the craziest tow rig you have probably ever seen so we just had to share it with you guys.

Shawn, I always entertained the thought of finding a suitable diesel engine for one of the 9N/2N/8N Ford tractors. A friend of mine who used to do right of way mowing here in Kentucky used a spare diesel tractor engine in a square body Chevrolet 4x4 and that truck was pure low end torque. No telling how many times that truck and all of the mowing tractors crisscrossed Kentucky. Seeing your creation reminds me of several years ago when we used to play with the pulling trucks. We fabricated some wild stuff and if thing’s didn’t work out - We made it work. Best Regards From Central Kentucky.

@IronDuke502 thanks man! I got the initial inspiration for a build like this from Quagmyr, a 78ish Squarebody in top truck challenge, had 44s up front and like 48s in the back I think.

2:50: I installed a second alternator on my engine for auxiliary power. Wired it up so it can power my winch and the auxiliaries on my truck. The first alternator/Dynamo is for starting the truck. Pro tip: wire it so you can switch. This way: you can always start your truck. When you can start your working truck: you can hock up the winch at that as well when your second or first dynamo/alternator/battery dies. I'm glad I did it like this. Saved me multiple times. Pro tip 2: don't overheat the winch! And use a weight on the winch cable so when it snaps: it won't behead you! Just like the 4x4 guys do.

Josh,a good homemade D.I.Y winch cover can be made using an old pickup bed wheel well. Hinge it to the front of the trailer and viola!! Have 2 trailers made with em.👍

Just saw Sean's tow rig ! That 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis certainly looks different than my 1989 Grand Marquis ( you folks have photos of mine - the dark blue 50th Anniversary Edition ). Thanks for sharing this video with us. It should prove interesting what he does with the old Chevy cab over. Take care guys.

No there is others, Westin Champlin, demoranch has a beautiful Cuda, Matt's offroad has the biggest 4x4 offroad wrecker, merlins old school garage has mater the wrecker. Matt's offroad has some great straps he sells, warranty forever. Can't wait to see your shop!!

Also, planetary winches are MUCH faster than worm gear winches (what it seems you have, judging by the speed), and rubberized canvas covers are available at tow truck supply houses.

@Sleeperdude2 don't get me started. I've tried all the YT tricks: - Zapping with the welder (ultra high amperage). - Epsom salt/water fill & low amperage charge. We can't even get battery acid (*electrolytes *) out here. My next step is to put Ford style (top post) connectors on everything and have a multi-outlet charging station & pull batteries NASCAR style and keep them trickle charged. Let us know if we can email blast whomever the appropriate person is at Rural King (or parent company?) and get you hooked up.

I used to hot shot cars with a 4 car hauler and I had 20 ft jumper cables. If I needed to load a non runner I'd pop the hood on my one ton and run the cables to the winch on front of the trailer.

The vehicle that picked up the COE is crazy cool. I reckon terrible to drive long distances in, but crazy cool nonetheless. It is even cooler looking pulling the COE! In Australia you wouldn't be able to drive it on the road. There would be no engineer who could legally sign it off, so there would be no transport department who would register it,
