This song makes me think of a man and a woman who have just bought their first little house in the woods, after they got married a few months ago, and the woman finds out she is pregnant with her first child. They are too happy to express themselves with any words, so, when sitting by the crackling fire, the man writes this song while he slowly sees his wife's belly grow. And when the child is in her arms, it becomes a lullaby, which will be passed on to every generation of the family that will live in the wooden forest house.

Frosty ---- Struth Frosty, ease the fk up. Give life just one more year, or even one more day. You / we WILL be gliding and soring soon enough, take whatever joy you can find and enjoy those admittedly fleeting moments as and when they happen. Read Johnathon Livingston Seagull, a short book by Richard Bach, it helped me put things in perspective. Life is still 'a bitch then you die', but the little moments of joy make it all worth it.

I grew up in the woods of northern Maine. Where the towns turn to numbers marked as unorganized territories and the people are few and far between but when you pass them on the dirt roads they’ll pull over for a conversation. Where the morning traffic was moose, deer and Amish buggies and the nights were the darkest I had ever known. The stars were so visible and the sky seemed so big. The houses were old no one really had anything new but we got by just fine. Life was tedious but it was rewarding and I thought when I turned 18 and graduated high school I wanted more. So I went off to college down south, close to Boston. I had never been so lost and confused as I was in college. People didn’t want to talk, they could hardly look up from their phones. The streets were always crowded, dogs were always leashed and the stars seemed dimmer where the night sky seemed almost orange. So I got what I could and headed back up home. And I think that’s where I’ll stay.

I go to a summer camp every year that is SOO near and dear to my heart, I've been going there since I was little and I can't even describe the feeling of warmth that radiates through me when I'm there. everyone is so incredibly loving and basically with all of the hardships that I face, going there and seeing those people is my only escape. It's a tiny place in the mountains that is nothing like normal camps that people usually go to, it's very old and rustic but I love it. There's signatures all over the ceiling of the old dining hall from people that went there in the 60s. As I get closer to graduating, reality sinks in that I'll only have a couple years until I can't be a camper any longer. I feel like this song is MADE for this camp, especially the "we call this fixer-upper home" line. Whenever I miss camp I listen to this song and it helps ❤️

I bought a room to live with my room mate when we both come to study at our university. We're both very, very far away from home, a stranger to this place, but somehow, we found a new home here. We have fun, we laugh and cried. countless times i've opened this door, come in, place my bag, place my equipment, walk to the bathroom to wash my feet, then finally walk to the bed where i made it my working space, then sit down with her. Amazing such a small space, only around 5x6 m., can holds so many memories. We'll move out next year. I'll never forget this place. The years we're here have been kind.

This song helps me see what life is all about. I have a hard time remembering that during the dark winter, everything seems so pointless. But then I listen to this and feel all those warm feelings, and think about the future I have with my partner. It's worth it.
I love the meaning behind this song. It truly captures the magic of moving into your first home, of new hope beginning. But more than that, I imagine a couple newly married, and making their vows to honor their marriage for the rest of their lives. Admitting that it will be a struggle, but it is well worth it in the end. That we may make mistakes, but everyday we repaint, and starter and grow.

I've come back to this song so many times over the years, at different points in my life. It has taken me through a different country, through my first real encounter with grief, through loss and gain, and so many goodbyes. It still feels as bittersweet as the first time. A ballad to settling, no matter how much you've lost. To the peace of staying in one place with someone you love, even knowing that forever doesn't exist. You settle and let the dust fall around you, and you know that you will leave this place behind, too, someday. But the years you are there will be kind and full with wine, and bread, and salt. And the lines that measure your growth will be with you even when you go. To all the homes we've had and lost, and to the ones that we have yet to have. This song is for them.

I believe it’s a metaphor for our lives… and a love song to the self. We each build a home inside ourselves full of experiences and memories, good and bad. Time chips away at us and sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. We “repaint, and repaint, and repaint, everyday.” I love how he chose to say, “Let our hearts, like doors, open wide…” instead of the opposite. If it were about a house, he might have chosen to say, “Let our doors, like our hearts, open wide, open wide.” The end of the song leaves me in tears every time. We are each given this one life and body to grow in, the “dirt where our roots may grow”. We often look everywhere but inside for love and joy. It is our right to call ourselves home. Listen to it and think of it as an ode to your life. It will blow you away all over again.

This was the song of the man I thought I'd marry and I.. but even if our separation gave me so much pain, it's time to reclaim this wonderful song as one I want to listen to. Maybe the future will give it a similar meaning as it used to have for me, again. I - or maybe we - will see.

Listen, Sleeping at Last's songs are truly magnificent and fascinating, but the most amazing fact is, their songs have this 'Dreamy vibe' and I'll be thankful for that. Sleeping at Last is a band, and from their namd, you'll noticd what "they" actually means or their goal. Most of us will know, that we all have are worst moments in real life, being tired at work or for everything that happens everyday and when we get home, we all just want to have rest, lay in our bed and sleep. But still, we wonder, what is the true meaning of life, the true meaning of living, and as we have thoughts about it, we will fall asleep, down into the oblivion of our own thoughts- we will have our happy and glorious days in our dream, the things we wanted to expirience rather than having our normal and everyday lives. This band, is an instrument for us to be 'dreamy' and expirience things in our mind, in our own and desired way. I might be speaking and over reacting now, but admit it, I might have a point. So thank this band for making you feel whatever you wanted to be, they deserve it.

We will call this place our home The dirt in which our roots may grow Though the storms will push and pull We will call this place our home We’ll tell our stories on these walls Every year, measure how tall And just like a work of art We’ll tell our stories on these walls Let the years we’re here be kind, be kind Let our hearts, like doors, open wide Open wide Settle our bones like wood over time Over time Give us bread, give us salt, give us wine A little broken, a little new We are the impact and the glue Capable of more than we know We call this fixer upper home With each year, our color fades Slowly, our paint chips away But we will find the strength And the nerve it takes To repaint and repaint and repaint every day Let the years we’re here be kind, be kind Let our hearts, like doors, open wide Open wide Settle our bones like wood over time Over time Give us bread, give us salt, give us wine Let the years we’re here be kind, be kind Let our hearts, like doors, open wide Open wide Settle our bones like wood over time Over time Give us bread, give us salt, give us wine Give us bread, give us salt, give us wine Smaller than dust on this map Lies the greatest thing we have: The dirt in which our roots may grow And the right to call it home

Thanks mom for making a home for me. If you’ve seen this song then something’s happened to me and I’m sorry life sucks and took me too soon. I love you so much and I want you to smile and stay strong. I love you to the moon or maybe mars and back. Thanks for looking after me for so long. See you soon mom.

I want to specify this is not a suicide note, I’ve prepared letters for my loved ones in case of an accident. I’ve listed songs for each of them and my love for them written out. Hoping to ease the pain a little in case something happens.

I loved that movie as a kid. It was my favorite, and I can see why this song reminds you of it. Their little and broken family tries so hard to find a home in every new house they come to.

I moved out of my childhood home around 2 months ago, it sometimes hurts as if I have lost a little piece of me because it was the only place I had ever known. It will always have a special place in my heart and it is crazy how something so simple could have such a profound impact

When im listening to this song i can see broken family, devastated mother with 2 young children who use to smile a lot now facing uncertain futhure with shelter on the way, sad evenings in place they can't call home......i would give everything for that story not to be true but suddenly it is story of our life.....please pray for us.......x
