An AMV based on Wrenstar, a cat who struggles with violent sleepwalking tendencies, attempts to maintain trust with her traumatised son and husband.
This all comes crashing down when she is possessed by her dead kit.

INFO ABOUT ROOTCLAN
Rootclan are a group of cats that have made their homes in the roots of trees, deep underground. While they used to be a relatively normal clan, this quickly changed when their deputy introduced them to a kittypet named Queenie.
She brought with her a strange religion, and garnered devotion from cats of both clan & kittypet origin.

While based loosely on the animation meme, this became more of an experimental amv where I tried out a bunch of new techniques and frame rates.
You can probably see me improve drastically in my animation quality from the beginning, compared to the second half.
My favourite part of the amv personally is Wrenstar’s nightmare sequence- pulled directly from the film, I worked my hardest to really do justice to this scene. And yes, I did animate every… single… ant. I put a flickering vignette around scenes in this sequence to differentiate it from the rest of the amv, so hopefully folks that haven’t seen the film pick up on it being a dream.

going bonkers over how good this is wtf i love this crossover i love it question though, how does charlie die in this version? since we can't have nut allergies or cars or whatnot... and it still has to be accidental... also also, naming peter deerleg is brilliant and heinous omggggg 💀😭

Most people don’t catch onto why he’s called DEERleg 💀 apart from his physical stature Pigeon gets given yew berries by a cult member at the house party (Bridget is a kittypet), when she has a reaction Deer grabs her and tries to make it to camp, taking a risky shortcut on the thunderpath While running on the road, a light blinds him, and on top of this, a Buck leaps out onto the road right in front of him In the heat of the moment he drops pigeonkit and she tumbles across the road, where she is decapitated by a motorcyclist swerving to avoid hitting the deer

He does that in the movie! He splashes her with a glass of water :P Steve (rook) is unironically very funny in the film, he has some of the best dry humour quotes, which are made funnier by Gabriel’s acting. He’s a severely underrated character

I personally knew nothing about Hereditary prior to seeing this project. Watching your progress on it and seeing all the love and work you poured into this animation made me so excited to see the final piece. Your work with the lighting, the movements, the pacing, character design, all are phenomenal !! I can't help but wanna rewatch it over and over and was so glad I made it to the premiere. Keep up this AMAZING work, Charlie!!

i feel like it'd be tough to maintain hereditary's atmosphere in a warrior cats setting but you absolutely pulled it off!! love the art direction and designs here and 1:49 is just such a good shot- this project is so impressive, almost makes me want to create warriors versions of my favorite horror films. fantastic work!

I get Hereditary brainrot from time to time because it's such a great film but it's hard to because its themes terrify me on a personal level. This AU is a great way of experiencing it without scaring myself half to death! And I love cats so this is awesome!! The atmosphere, the shots, the character designs, it's all so eerie and I adore it!!

I'm so glad it's completed! The animation is really great, I especially like the movements of the Wren and her “saggy” fur. The lighting and backgrounds are also good, my favorite scene is where Wren sees the deer dead, the slow realization and horror are perfectly conveyed! It's difficult to capture people's characters and convey them through drawn cats, but you did it and did it incredibly! This is a very big project and you should be proud of yourself !

HERE IT IS. The amount of work you put in it was ungodly but also how FAST and hardworking u were is so impressive. The fact that u were able to animate this masterpiece shows how much you improved, and in a relatively short time. The character animation is so fluid, creative and expressive. Really professional level. The tweened parts look phenomenal as well, you got the puppet motion on point. Another extraordinary element are the expresssions. You really nailed the emotions. The character designs, backgrounds, colors, shading. And the small details translating the original lore into that AU! I admire your big brain. All of that is top tier and together they make for a great experience. I hope you get A LOT of praise for it bc you really deserve it

I am at loss of words! This AMV is done so well! The way you use rough lines is a really creative idea and it really makes the AMV seem more hectic! You manage to combine anatomy and animation so well! This is top tier! See, I have heard Disney wants an animator back....

wow. why do the cats look perfectly like the actors?!?! this is incredible stuff. I'm honestly blown away. I'm a huge fan of hereditary, I could see every frame you were pulling from. Annie is dead on, but your peter especially - absolutely fantastic.

Thank you so much!! A lot of studying. Likeness was incredibly important to me when creating these designs. I thought oriental cats would be the most suitable to represent Annie and peter, since both Toni and Alex have kind of long faces. Attempted to make Deerleg look a little awkward and lanky like peter appears in the film. Steve’s facial stripes represent his glasses, personally i struggled a lot with Steve initially but my friend suggested I make his stripes glasses and it worked wonders Joan isn’t in the main animation, you can spot her right at the a24 intro, locked tails with Ellen, is actually based on my own cat, pepper, since she has immaculate Joan energy. The roundness, the kind demeanour, but she’s actually evil LOL I’ve got a lot more art of these guys on my community tab if you ever want to have a look!

I keep coming back to this. Warrior cats crossover amvs are hard to pull off for me, but this is incredible. The timining with the music is great. the expressions are prob my favorite part - you use facial expressions and body language so incredibly effectively I'm inn awe. That scream in the dream in particular is just incredible - how you translated such an iconic expression onto feine anatomy is amazing !

I just stumbled up on this video and watched it, I was so curious to what the story intaled and looked up the film. I am back after watching the film and can safely say. I'm shocked, amazed, and awed. The film was so unnatural that it was Beautiful. Looking back on the animation I can see each scene and it is amazing! Lovely real spooky real film, Probably going to be real paranoid for a while. But in all seriousness thank you for showing up randomly on my fyp. 💕

This is absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I'm a huge fan of the storyboard already, and seeing it truly brought to life made my day!! Amazing work, here. I must confess I only just recently came across the wips of this project on your Instagram and MAN am I glad I put the premier of this vid in my watch later list cause my goodness this is OUTSTANDING!! First of all, I love Hereditary, and although I never imagined someone would make a Warriors au of it HSDsdsd I'm so glad you did I had no idea how much I needed to see something like this AA Second of all, WOWOOW!! The art?? The animation?? The setting??? THE DESIGNS??? AA IT'S ALL SO WONDERFUL!! You translated the whole concept and story into the Warriors setting so well I can't get over it seriously! The characters are so well animated and designed I LOVE ALL THEIR DISTINCT SHAPES SM!!! AND THE EXPRESSIONS!! The backgrounds flow so seamlessly too. And oh my god the nightmare sequence,,, you did SO much justice to that scene! (Srsly you animated EVERY. SINGLE. ANT??!?! AARGHSDS).
