Great!! I'm a trumpet player and I was just waiting for the horse whinny without the ability to half valve it. To my surprise it sounded really good. Then I remembered, oh yeah....these guys are attending Julliard! Very nice job everyone.
@OliviaSNava3 жыл бұрын
Trombones can half-valve! I don’t think any of them in this performance have a peashooter, all of them have at least an F valve, but if nothing else the basses can play up super high and do a horse sound.
@williamb.charlton73273 жыл бұрын
I skipped ahead just to see how they would do it - great job! I just wish they would have kept the video on to the final whinny.

@@OliviaSNava with enough lip flexibility you don't even have to have a valve to get a good horse whinny on a trombone - at least sound like a trumpet whinny up there

@@Benisuber1 True, but the tone here sounds less like an open horn doing an extreme bend and more like a half-valved horn.

What is "the leg"???
@phaselockk2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewburgess7017 If another player does something worthy of a thumbs-up, but you can't give them one because you're about to play, people will just stick their leg out and wiggle it instead to convey the same message. You can see this at the time stamp mentioned above, with one bass trombonist approving the quality of the low note form the other bass trombonist..

Excellent - I've been playing the "T-Bone" since 1974, 5th grade. My good ole 12-C is just a tad too small and uncomfortable, what would you recommend for a larger mouthpiece?

Try a Bach 6 1/2 al or a 5G that will give you a more bottom end and a fuller son on your tenor trombone
