Rick won’t get canceled for the eye thing because everybody in the room is Asian and cool with it. Plus his intention wasn’t about racism and he gave himself permission. Basically, everybody in the room gets it. If this was a white podcast and an Asian person did it, that would be more cancelable because there’s the racist/self-hating intention to impress white folks, there’s the non-Asian audience that doesn’t understand Asian experiences, and there’s the unspoken power dynamics of race in the room. But in this case with Rick, none of that exists.
