Crooked political leaders! Corrupt newspaper publishers! You’ll swear you’ve never met such people! Pat O’Brien, Edward Arnold, Broderick Crawford, and Eve Arden star in this comical crime drama about a lawyer framed for murder. This madcap misadventure was directed by Tay Garnett (The Postman Always Rings Twice), beautifully shot by cinematographer Merritt B. Gerstad (A Night at The Opera), written by Ken Englund (who’d go on to write for the likes of Jerry Lewis and Jacky Gleason), and features music by five-time Oscar nominee Werner Janssen. As the original print ads said, “It's Goose-pimply! It's grand! It's ga-ga!”

Other crime shows during this era don’t worry about fingerprints or traced calls. This one includes looking at a body without checking for any life signs. The law officers must have shaken their heads in disbelief. I still enjoyed the movie with many well known actors.

Oh not going to give it away ...but watched whole thing till end.. surprised ...sad ending....was enjoying till then.....even humor ours at times..cept what happened to Eve A and Alma..😞love Broderick Crawford they were pals 😔

I came for the movie and stayed for the floorshow. Unfortunately it was downhill from there inspite of the stellar cast. Should be called "Slightly Coherent"
