I read an interview where he told this crazy story: One night, a couple dudes were sitting on his porch, waiting for him to come home. When Paul got home, he was like "What are you doing here?" and the were like "Oh my God, it's Paul!". Rather than call the cops on them, Paul invited them into his house and offered them beer and a ride back home... What a nice guy. R.I.P.

You see at 2:18 Paul says "he was one of the founding members of the band" referring to Clown, but he didn't give any credit to himself. Clown and Paul started Slipknot. I've read that Paul contributed to a lot of things that he never took credit for, where a lot of other musicians would try to brag that they were the ones who did it. You can really see his character with this interview, you can see exactly what his band members were talking about at that press conference about his death, he's just a good dude, not a bad bone in him.

Kind of puts his passing into perspective, he gives so much of the credit to everyone else (and I'm sure deservedly so) but plays down his role in it all. He may not have believed deep within himself that he deserved all that they attained. Obviously no one ever knows what is going on in anyone else's mind. But I can only imagine how much pressure builds up as someone is hitting higher & higher levels of fame & money. Knowing how many people are depending upon you & praying you can keep it all going when you're not feeling worthy of it all to begin with. He mentioned OCD so I'm gonna assume he was a Perfection to some degree. It can be a beautiful thing when focused in the right direction but it can also have an extremely detrimental impact on the mind. We want everything to be perfect, in-order, just so... so when it's not the frustration, anger can turn into self doubt/hatred... I obviously didn't know PDG personally so I could be completely off base. But just listening to this interview he sounds like such a humble guy who may not have known his own value. Such a huge loss for his friends & family! And an extremely sad loss for the music world & fans... RIP Paul

Makes you wish "Parents" really thought about the insane responsibly of bringing another human life into their world! People don't really seem to comprehend how much you can fuck up another human for the remainder of life, in just the first decade or two of it! Too many people have kids because THEY wanted a baby or Oops! Someone "accidentally" got pregnant. Not too many people take into consideration whether or not the baby wants to be brought into (sometimes the fucked up) world of the parent/parents. It's an awesome thing that we all got to know Paul's talent, but heartbreaking that he left us at such a young age! The scars of the pass can remain forever inside of us...

I would have really wanted to see the band live with Paul. Knowing I will see them for the first time on October the 3rd in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is something I thought impossible. I come from Ecuador and bands barely get there because we're still a developing country and things are still difficult for us, I came to study here in Argentina, and the dream is about to become a reality. I remember Slipknot holding my selfsteem and my spirits up ever since I first listened to them back when I was 12, an angsty teen with serious social anxiety and fear. They really influenced me and kept me hoping for something better to be, to become. Now I look back at how I idolized them as gods, how their music would make me happy, and I find it beautiful, it's like being 12 again... God I love them. Thank you Slipknot, you were true teachers back in the day, and true heroes now.

Paul inspired me to get off my a$$ and learn bass. Him and fieldy from korn gave me inspiration to learn any instrument. I now know guitar bass and drums. I’m seeing korn in SLC in October and I’m seeing slipknot when they play in Des Moines

Damn he has amazing, dark voice. R.I.P Paul.

Right? He could talk forever and I wouldn't be mad. His voice is very soothing and calm. He's the kind of guy that you'd feel very safe and at ease to be around.

This video made me misty eyed. He loved his band mates so much. You can truly tell they were a family; they mean it when they call each other brothers. I'm always blown away when he tells the story of meeting Anders, and saying he could play bass when he hadn't a day in his life. From there he became one of the best bass guitar players of all time, certainly the best of modern music. Slipknot will never be the same without him, but his influence and presence will always be there, no matter what.

When I was a kid I wore Paul's mask for Halloween. Then the news came that he died. I've been a life long fan.

Notice the fact he didn’t say one bad thing about any of his band mates. He thought of a way to lift up each member of the band and leave the things that frustrate him out of it. That is a true brother.

I used to work for Slipknot's marketing team from 2000-2002. I was about 20, and I remember finally meeting Paul for the first time for the first time during the Pledge of Allegiance tour. Back then we called him "Hog." He was so nice, and not in any "fake gracious" kind of way. He seemed like the kind of friend you'd chill with and play ps2 and listen to music with. He even gave me his phone number, which unfortunately gathered cobwebs in my contacts and i never used it before he passed ☹️

I love this interview! It feels like he's explaining it all to someone who doesn't know him, in the afterlife. Paul is a great dude! Takes a lot to be like Paul, strong individual he was! Paul will be greatly missed for all of time! RIP #2 Till we meet again...

This guy and Flea were the reason I wanted to play bass. 14 years later I still come back to slipknots music with Paul. Despite what people think or like to believe you never grow out of the music you loved first, everyone has that place in their heart for the music that helped them through shitty times, and this guy was the !mastermind behind it all.
