Obviously every single hetero has a hetero privilege sack their body near their heart. In this sack is filled with power liquid and anytime they get the feeling of being Superior this liquid replenishes itself. But as as soon as the gay person is treated equally to them the sack malfunctions. Eventually all the liquid disappears. And they die inside. As they realize that they no longer have as much power as they used.

Well, obviously if I were to happily marry my girlfriend (I'm nonbinary by the way), whenever heteros saw us on the street their days would be polluted with the sight of gay. Then they would have to go wash their eyes out with soap, which would lead to temporary blindness. This blindness would temporarily stunt their ability to have social interaction mostly because they are superficial and only talk to people based on looks. Then that hetero would accidentally start dating someone who wasn't physically attractive to them. When their vision returned, they would already be married to that person. That's when they would get a divorce, but during the process of divorcing it was discovered that the person that they married was actually my sister. When the hetero realizes that they married the sister of the enby that caused this mess in the first place, they would fly into a rage. They would threaten to kill me, but that's when I would use my magical powers of gay to make them one of us. They would be so scared that they had become a gay that they would warn all of the heteros of our magical powers, who would then proceed to throw us into the center of the sun. But suddenly the heteros would realize that they just killed 10% of the population. With all of the holes that they created in the workforce, civilization would rapidly fall, all because I married my girlfriend.

One of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned is that if someone is trying to use fear to push you towards an opinion or decision, always ask “what’s in it for them?”. Usually power, control, or money. Good people explain how a choice will make positive change.
@feistsorcerer2251

The exception I've found to this is when a group is warning you how a decision will allow people in power to hurt people. An example of this is people warning about how certain legislation in Florida was the stepping stone that was going to lead to more extreme stripping of rights from people. And lo and behold.

Also for abortion apparently there have been out-of-the-womb babies killed, and all abortion kills something that is alive scientifically so calling it a “live baby” is kind of misleading is the assumption is that babies in the womb are not alive, because they are. Plus, many democrats don’t normally support born-alive bills which would protect babies who are already born, so that’s an interesting fact.

@@jadongrifhorst6221 Funny trick trying to use a both sided argument to promote absolute bs. A child in the womb is not 'alive' until the 6th month. That is when it mainly just grows (and isn't really alive still). And abortion is most common until the 3-4th month cause you need time to confirm the pregnancy. And if we go by 'oh but someone did that once' we'd ban guns. But republicans obviously don't like their own logic.

You have fundamentally misunderstood that the slippery slope argument is a fallacy in and of itself. Whether we are at the bottom, the top, or anywhere in between... it still isn't a valid argument.
@jadongrifhorst6221

@@CatOnFire why? Let's just say that someone makes a claim that due to rising carbon emissions and CO2 in our atmosphere that global warming will cause sea levels to rise and cause massive devastation within the next 20 years (a claim that I'm pretty sure has been made on this channel if I remember right), would we then say their argument for trying to lower emissions is completely useless because of a slippery slop fallacy? If anything, that's far more of a stretch than what he made in this video, some of which is literally already happening (there are academics starting to question why bestiality is wrong). So, what is inherently wrong about making a claim and then using logic to foresee the probable consequences of the action? I would say nothing. Where the fallacy comes in, in my opinion is in huge leaps of logic that make no sense, and I wouldn't even call that a fallacy, just a bad argument.
@CatOnFire
@CatOnFire 6 ай бұрын
@@jadongrifhorst6221 Slippery Slope is a fallacy whereby someone claims direct cause and effect where there is none, or fear mongers about potential consequences that could be avoided reasonably. Take the legalization of marijuana. "Legalizing marijuana would reduce the number of drug-related arrests per year. This would likely eventually lead to fewer prison sentences for drug related crimes." This would be a direct cause and effect. It's not a slippery slope. "Legalizing marijuana would cause people to go to work while under the influence." This is a slippery slope fallacy. It is entirely possible and reasonable to legalize marijuana, but keep it illegal to work while under the influence, just like we have already done for alcohol. Legal marijuana directly forces fewer drug-related arrests. Legal marijuana does not force anyone to work while under the influence. Thus, one of these stances is a Slippery Slope Fallacy, and the other is not. Slippery Slope is recognized as one of the logical fallacies, a relative of the non-sequiter fallacy. It is given its own name because of how common it is and how convincing it can often sound. Given your example about climate change, it would not be a slippery slope fallacy so long as there is evidence that rising ocean waters is a direct consequence of global warming. As to your comment about beastiality, there have always been people who questioned why it was wrong and people who crossed that line. Beastiality has not been legalized and will not be legalized under any reasonable circumstances. It is unreasonable to claim that beastiality being legalized is a direct consequence of legalizing gay marriage. Therefore, the claim that legalizing gay marriage will lead to beastiality is a slippery slope fallacy.

It depends on the argument. When it comes to giving people more rights, I would say it's not a great point to make; however, if the government is taking away rights and imposing restrictions, making a slippery slope argument is relevant because of what we have observed throughout history.
@ryanrichey3245
@ryanrichey3245 2 жыл бұрын
See you're wrong because it's not actually a slippery slope fallacy if you lay out step by step how things can go bad. For example arguing that internment camps lead to human rights abuses is not a slippery slope fallacy. But saying that gay marriage will lead to marrying animals is because the points are unrelated and require a complete jump in logic to get from one point to the next. Forcibly restraining people and taking away their autonomy leading to human rights abuse is not a leap in logic.

You can make something sound like anything when you misrepresent a quote. On the topic of non-viable and severely deformed foetuses (to the point of major health ramifications), here's what Dr Northam _actually_ said: "If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Any suggestion that this is about killing birthed children is purely inference and a bad-faith argument. A DNR is not murder. Withdrawing life support is not murder.

Slippery slope is very obviously real. It can be for good things and bad things. The argument can be abused too. But gay marriage is actually a perfect example because it quickly led to the current gender identity debate. Gay marriage was a major step and opponents of gay marriage, as we all know, are in the 'only 2 genders' crowd.
@indridcold9593
@indridcold9593 2 жыл бұрын
i see where you're coming from, but i don't think that many people were aware that trans people existed before gay marriage was legalized, so there weren't really people saying "if we let gay people get married, then we'll end up letting trans people in the bathrooms they want to be in, too" or anything to that effect. looking back on it and seeing that gay marriage legalization likely emboldened the trans community to come out of their own closet can't really be used to justify slippery slope arguments if they weren't really made to begin with. the slippery slope arguments that were being used were generally "if we let gay people get married, we'll end up letting people marry animals and children too." neither of those have happened or will happen anytime soon, of course (and it is generally conservative politicians that advocate for lowering age of consent, funnily enough). tl;dr "slippery slope" is not simply the fact that things can influence other things, it is taking a situation and becoming concerned over highly unlikely scenarios that it could only hypothetically lead to.

@@maxisatypeofmoss7151 ar-15’s are civilian grade semi-automatic weapons. All automatic weapons created after like ‘86 are already illegal. Semi-automatic means hold the trigger and only 1 bullet flies. Also, check out H.R 127. It’s a fun bill that makes ALL magazines over 10 rounds illegal. Most HANDGUNS come with 12-16 round magazines. So those will be illegal. Also, every time in history gun registration has happened, inevitably, the government enforced mandatory buy backs. If you think the goal is innocent you’re not paying attention. Collin noir is a great representation of how ludicrous they become. The most recent gun buy backs have shown only law abiding citizens return the weapons meaning that criminals keep them. I will strongly disagree with what your saying. Also the argument that firearms are for hunting is also just plain ignorant. The idea of our second amendment is so that the citizens are not out gunned by our government. It’s used to ensure we can always fight back on a government that tries to take our rights. They’ve confiscated guns after hurricane katrina. They kicked in an old lady’s door and threw her on the ground to STEAL her revolver. 6 rounds.

I don't have anything against you man. I think your heart is pretty much squarely in the right place. I think it's important to recognize that this was a straw man argument. I am not saying that any of your examples weren't real examples, but I think for the sake of the rythm you kept "you said that" at the beginning of every line. So you are arguing against just the dumbest fake person, in effect. Dispute the leavening effect of the ukulele that only serves to make people more self-righteously angry. Now the discourse will only be more separate. Based on your other videos I don't think that's what you want, so you should be more careful when constructing your songs so that the music of it doesn't box you in to a bad faith tactic. Keep it up man, but do it with more of a critical eye concerning your own arguments.
