Literally, just went through that this morning. I won a hundred bucks on my free play and my heart started beating out of control. Next thing you know I'm up to 450. Minutes later, kept hitting bonuses on every machine that I was on and did not win big money on those bonuses. Then I'll switch to another machine and repeat my tactics, next thing you know I'm walking out of there 400 dollars lighter. SMH This is the first and last time I will ever do this.

I have a friend who used to work in a casino and he had countless horror stories about people losing everything (one guy literally lost his car one night) because they thought that "one more hand" or "one more pull" would be the one. Thank you for addressing this topic and encouraging responsibility. I have never used the lockbox method but I will be from now on! I also never go to the casino with my ATM card, but I do have one credit card on me for food and any emergencies. I just make sure to have my credit cards set to not allow transactions at ATMs.

Cowboy Slots has all my respect and loyalty to this channel because you are very thoughtful, considerate, informative and care about all of your viewers. Gambling addiction is very real. I have talked with gamblers who have lost their 'house', or their '$90,000+ Jackpot' (which was won on the same day), or their 'marriage'. I know I'm not perfect, but when I do win something significant (only twice in over 30 yrs), I ask for a cheque and a few hundred cash. Gambling is fun if controlled through self control methods. If you save each week for gambling and only take that to the casino with no cards or checks, when you lose it doesn't hurt as bad. Then when you win you apply it to your bank and NEVER take any past winnings to the casino and only take what you save from week to week, then you're ahead of the game, even if you lose often.

Good reminder. Luckily for me losing money makes me not want to gamble, not more. And your budget tip is right on, arive with cash you're willing to lose. When its gone, time to go. Which is hard especially if you drove a while to said casino and you lose it in 10 minutes.

So glad you did this video. I feel too many casino related channels make it look or sound like winning is the norm, or at least can be when that is rarely the case. I actually have two budgets when I go to a casino. The first budget is the money I expect to lose. The second budget is a reserve should things go worse then expected. The reserve budget is money I've saved towards my next trip to the casino. If I end up spending my reserve then I know I may have to delay my next trip to the casino until I've saved enough to replenish both budgets. This way I create consequences for going over my initial budget but don't lose money I wasn't planning on losing.

@@chuachua-hj9zd The vast majority of my casino trips I lose my budget and sometimes a portion, if not all, of my reserve. But through budgeting and bankroll management, I can keep myself entertained playing without spending money I didn't already anticipate losing. I also earning some decent comps along the way. I can't recall the last time I left the casino remorseful and I'm always looking forward to my next trip.

Great that you guys are putting it out there like that. We've had people approach us more than once trying to sell us jewelry (even a wedding ring once) while at the casino and of course we refused them but it just made me really sad and a little angry. Then my thoughts ran to "wow I wonder if they have kids at home needing food etc.." Thank you so much for this one.

Thanks for this video. I've fallen into the KZfaq rabbit hole watching your and other people's live play videos. I watch how many dead spins you get, even on your favorite Pinball machines. I"ve noticed how much you spend each session. It's scary to see how much you have to spend sometimes before you get those amazing thousands of dollars jackpots because I'll never have such bankrolls. Having said that, I've learned A LOT from all of your videos, the most important being recognizing high and low volatility machines. and I look forward to putting some of what I've learned into practice the next time I go to a casino.

Sunk cost fallacy works on the machines too! They don't care or acknowledge how much you've invested, each spin is its own event. If you find yourself spending 800 and losing it all on a machine, don't put more on that same machine judt because you already "invested" 800 in it.

I have a tendency to chase jackpots… and I am one that has to only take what I am going to spend and leave all my money resources at home. I also take a break from casinos every once in a while when every time I go I come home broke… I have to give it a rest for a bit. Very good video. It's hard to stick to the stop limits when you get into what I call a "meltdown". Like you said, it best to prep up front to make sure you can't access anything more than what you planned to take. Make it impossible to make the walk of shame to an ATM.

Thank you so much for this extremely valuable video! I think every gambler would benefit from watching this video before setting foot in a casino. My personal budget (on Microsoft Excel) is now sophisticated enough that it calculates a maximum gambling amount available (excluding rewards play), for not only the current month, but for every month after that. This budget has been extremely valuable in determining when to go gambling and when to not go gambling. Thanks again!

I'm lucky in that I do have the income and finances that make vacations to Vegas about as much as I'd spend going anywhere else. I'd just spend more on flights and hotels, both of which are cheap from where I am to Vegas. I like gambling, but if I actually lose my budget for the day, I definitely don't want to continue doing it any longer. Slots are OK, and you guys have taught me the best machines to play, but I'm more of a video poker or blackjack person. They have a lower house edge and I can spend hours playing video poker and usually leave with around what I put in.

This was a great video. Loved 🥰 your opening scene. Yes it’s so important to understand that when you go into the casino, the odds are with the house, not you. It’s for entertainment as you described. When we go to Vegas, we take our “budget” fully expecting to lose it. May not sound like fun, but it’s the reality. And yes absolutely you need to take a break and find other fun things to do. Nothing is worse than the walk of shame coming home on a plane ✈️. So everyone please be responsible and don’t chase that high! Especially in Vegas, they didn’t spend billions of dollars for the opulence if the casinos were losing money. Just try to have fun and don’t go if you’re depending on that money. Stick with your budget and never go to the ATM. Thanks Marc!

Spot on. Budget and discipline are so key when gambling. I’ve failed many times and worked my budget many times. Leaving all debit cards at home works. It is a great feeling to walk out of a casino not breaching the budget. There is a brain mechanism that says, more more more! It’s a trick, and a vicious cycle. Thanks for addressing this. Excellent advice that should be practiced. I'd say if you think you are starting to have a problem is to go with less of a budget and leave the atm/credit cards and checks at home. This way once you are out of money you don't have access to more. My budget has increased since college and have found myself chasing bonuses and losing my budget on one machine. And make sure that before you figure out your budget is that you are ok with losing it on the entertainment.

I seldom gamble in a large casino. I do gamble on cruise ships and I go on two or three cruises annually. I’ve mostly had good luck. I play Hold’em poker and occasionally slots. I stick to $20 on slots and up to $200 in a night of poker. If I win, great, if I lose, I leave, I don’t keep buying in. I’ve seen how people will keep going trying to recover losses. I’ve seen the casino cut people off, deny them the ATM machine, not allow them to load their cash card by charging to their shipboard account. I’ve had people say they were taking money from their savings to gamble. It’s a dangerous activity if one lacks self control.

Thank-You for doing this video! I have a plan when I go. I think about what I am going to play and how much I am going to take on the trip. I normally will buy gift cards to use on the trip for food and other amenities the casino has to offer. Then it's already paid for and not coming out of the gambling budget. I normally spend more the first day and then reality sets in and I control myself the rest of the trip. I don't like going home miserable. I would like to see a video on "Casino Rules"Things that can get you banned or even go to jail. Some people will not listen.Thank-You Marc!

Love your advise about saving winnings for future trips! I walked out with $2800 winnings, kept $1k , and saved $1800 for 3 more trips to the casino that year. Worked out great even on the times you lose because I'm still playing on winnings!

some excellent tips here very well said,i feel gambling is possible the worst of addictions as people can easily hide it compared to the other addictions,you can easily put on a happy face even though you feel rotten inside. i feel this addiction is the most common what people say after they hear someone took their life because of gambling,people say wow he seemed so happy i cant believe he had a gambling problem... in other addictions like alcoholism or drug addiction people see them drunk or high but you seldom know a gambler is depressed

Having worked in a Casino as a security supervisor…..gambling has a very seedy side…that opened my eyes to gambling and it’s not pretty…my last visit to Las Vegas a couple was sitting at a slot machine and the male asked if I could help him out and he would let me HOLD his $60k watch!…I replied “ I might look stupid but believe me I’m NOT”

Another suggestion is to not mix drinking with gambling. Slot machines are the only thing I have trouble with, which is surprising and as you say it is very easy to have happen. For me I think it started the few times where I found some coins in my wallet, and putting them in lead to a big win.

I know it doesn't help, but I did the same thing last year in Vegas. Lost my entire 10k that I took out hoping I'd be luckier this time around. It burns and you'll get through it. Gambler's need to have a short memory. Don't look back with regret, we've all been there and done it. Didn't gamble for a few months and have been to our local casinos losing over another 20k. Slots aren't paying like they used to and as a gambler, gambling for over 30 years, I've witnessed it firsthand. Most channels aren't showing their losses, only glamourizing gambling by not showing them. I will only watch channels that show the reality of gambling.

Example: orginal budget: $200.... early in the playing night, I got up to $540 on $40 on one machine. I kept going on that machine for a long while probably longest I've ever sat at one machine, and got down to like $250. I got up, went to some other machines. Eventually, in about 3 hours total, I got down to about -$200 net before I left. Question: when should I have stopped chasing my losses?! Of course I wasn't going to stop within the first 20 minutes. And how much should I be kicking myself right now!? Obviously, I feel guilty... I've had some good nights and bad nights this past year, and over past 6 months or so, I've only been 3 times I think... just would like some input. Thank you!

Well, Im gonna "confess" here, because I sure cant tell any of my friends!!! I went to the Casino by myself last night.... I ONLY had $140 cash on me, just to "see what happens".... Amazingly, I turned $140 cash into $1,200 credit in the machine!!!! 😳 Can anyone else relate to the feeling of dread- leaving & driving home with nothing, late at night??? I was able to play for several hours & at least rack up a good amount of Tier Points, but OH NO, I played back ALL $1,200 that I had so much "fun" winning!!!! Now the next day, I'm still mad at my OWN self.... $1,200 is like a Jackpot win & even with taking a break, I just had to keep on playing!!! 😣 🤦‍♀️ And I knew I could use that money, but the problem is, that psychological "pull" of wanting to stay at my favorite machine & KEEP ON playing! I very slowly kept on spending it down, down, down, down..... 🤦‍♀️

So, does GA recommend quitting gambling completely? I wouldn’t want to quit because the few times I go to a casino, I do have fun either winning or losing. I follow your suggestions with the start money that I take in, but some times slip in another $100 to keep playing. I am willing to stop that ATM withdrawal. GA will typically strongly encourage you to put yourself on the self-exclusion lists from casinos, which prevents you from playing. As with any addiction, it's important to remove the source and encouragement of the addiction in order to tackle it.

The re enacting is funny but the topic is very serious. It’s always disappointing to lose especially after winning a good amount. I’ve only had 2 hand pays ever in my life thus far and have been following Cowboy Slots tips on picking machines but lately have not been lucky enough and maybe it’s because I’m thinking in the way you suggest in this video to stop gambling before it’s too late. I have a mindset to know the house always wins not to make my mortgage or pay bills when my budgets.gone, I go home.I never started until.my kids.were grown.I get scared for these young folks who start early.I could never afford it when I had small kids.

Every time we go we plan to lose it all and most of the time we leave with more than we went with just because we go with the mindset of just having fun and free drinks in the process

Gambling definately a double edged sword.....taking risk gets the adrenalin going....that's why it's hard to stop...lol

Per my wife's rule: I have to leave all cards and checks at home and only take what I'm willing to lose. I'm also a believer in taking a winnersbank with me and if I hit a big jackpot, put it in the box and continue. One other thing I do is if I win a couple of thousands of dollars is give most, if not all, of it to my wife to apply to our bank account. One of the worst things you can do is take past winnings to the casino and lose it. I save money each week to build a bankroll for gambling and it usually takes me a few months to save what I want to take. My go-to casino is exactly one hour away. I know I'm going to lose most of the time, so it's important that I take steps to maximize my fun at the Casino. This is how I play. Adding that I like the play Low Volatility Slot Machines concept.
