Join me for a walk around Slough - a town that you might not at first think as the home of a rich history and genuinely riveting cultural heritage. Though much derided for its modernist architecture in the 20th century, Slough today is actually home to a wide variety of captivating landmarks new and old, while also the site of a number of fascinating stories including the invention of the Mars Bar, the birth of the Thunderbirds, and of course, The Office.
On our walk around Slough, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Slough Tesco Extra, Slough Bus Station, The Curve, St. Ethelbert's Church, Slough High Street, the former Coachmakers Arms pub, Queensmere Shopping Centre, the Bird Tree, Slough Town Square, The Herschel Arms pub, St. Mary's Church and the beautiful Herschel Park.

'Come friendly bombs, and fall on Slough' - the infamous line that endures to this day. Thanks for walking through Slough for us, so that we don't have to. I didn't know about Herschel's association with Slough, although it's easy to see the link between Slough and Uranus.

Incorrect, take a look at our countryside, our farmland, farmshops, rivers and countryparks. I had a magical childhood due to Slough, believe me. It isn’t that bad.

Don’t. I love it, an amazing place to grow up with amazing cultures and some of the best people you could wish to meet. There’s plenty of work and money to be made. There’s fields and rivers and country parks. Don’t assume it’s all pavings n buildings. It’s amazing.

I live in a nearby town and have to drive through Slough on my way to work... It's a dump, none of the inhabitants know how to drive and, on top of that, it's expensive due to its transport links and how close to London it is. You can literally buy a nicer 3 bedroom house in Leeds or York for around half the price... and Slough is a dump!

I have something to say about Slough. I did day release college there 1971-1973. And I worked there from 1976 to 1978. It was bad then and looks even worse now. I now live in Australia, as far away as I could get.

I did day release in engineering there too about the same time. I soon left the area after my apprenticeship, now in Somerset. It always was a dump.

I live in Slough. Its not as segregated as people say. I think its great that Black blokes are systematically going round screwing many (not all) Chav White girls on poor run down council estates in Britwell, Cippenham Manor Park, Wexham and Langley. It makes me extremely happy that the Whites and Blacks indulge in a lifestyle that makes them happy. At least they are intergrated which is what they always wanted. The Asians as usual own all the shops in Slough. They are the most hard-working people I've ever seen but they do not speak English very well. The Romanians form their own little communities and don't really interact with anyone as most of them do not speak English very well either. The Polish people are very racist towards Blacks and they also form their own little communities. The main problem is that all the various groups do not interact with each other. It's mainly only Blacks and Whites who actually interact with each other with most of the interaction being sexual in nature. Integration can only work when everyone speaks the same language. If no one bothers to learn to speak English integration will never work. The Polish people are very hard-working but they are very racist towards Blacks so intergration is not possible. They are also White but they are not Anglo-Saxon so their behaviour is very different from the indigenous British. The only two groups of people in the entire country of Great Britain that are truly integrated are indigenous British people and Black Caribbean people. The interaction between these two groups is mainly sexual in nature. We see this behaviour on poor run down council estates throughout Britain. Whatever makes them happy is cool with me.

@@shaunigothictv1003 el 7shi ( al hadra) is a Moroccan expression that has made it's way into the Dutch street lingo. I don't think the kids actually knows what it means. It means a backhanded compliment. el 7shi bel fin means el 7shi with finesse.

I lived in Slough in early nineties for a few years. I haven't been back since. The place has changed so much. It was never one of my favorite places to live. It was drab and a miserable place and still is by the look of it.

Slough was one of the first cities in the UK where White People became a minority. other cities: Manchester, London, Luton, Birmingham, Newham, Leicester, Redbridge, etc

Another excellent video but, wow, what a dump Slough is. A few modern buildings, presumably funded in the past by the EU, can’t disguise the underlying dystopia, vandalism, graffiti and neglect. I suppose once a town like this is, in effect, handed over to “communities” with little to no historical family connections with the place, or interest in it, the dereliction builds a momentum of its own. One wonders how enchanted literary figures such as Sir John Betjeman and David Brent would be at the sight of today’s Kenya Halal Butchers and Kenya Fish Centre gracing Herschel St. And how many of the birds on the bird tree have been ripped off and melted down or sold in a street market somewhere.

Bilateral language poem says it all - not a British town anymore, I went there 14 years ago and saw very few white faces, I felt unsafe and have never been back again..
