Sometimes, "guy gets shot" is all that can be said, despite a potential motivation being known. I think it's a good thing, I don't want breaking news to be half guesswork based on rumors. I assume you're not a politician. You are still safer walking down the street in Slovakia or any other Central European country, than in most Western European countries. Also, unless you're a "party girl" don't visit Bratislava if you want some genuine experience. It's massively overpriced and you'll get ripped off everywhere. Go to the east of Slovakia which has by far the most beautiful nature and sceneries. High Tatras are overpriced too, but everywhere else is quite cheap. You can land in Poprad airport and then go further to the east, or you can land in Kosice airport and go to the north/west. Kosice is the 2nd largest city of Slovakia. You can find a hotel in Presov (3rd largest city) which is situated right in the middle of Eastern Slovakia, so you don't need to travel too far in any direction. You can visit nice historical towns of Bardejov, Levoca, you can visit Spissky Castle (largest in Central Europe), any many other places. I can give you a few more tips if you wish.
