Going slow almost feels like a sin. I had a very stressful and fast-paced job that took up almost all of my time. I didn't know how to wind down when it was time to relax. It got so bad for me that I was watching every KZfaq video at 2x the speed haha. I found that playing instruments slowed me down. Having to purposefully hold a fret on guitar or ukelele or pressing the correct key on piano made me consider my next move carefully.

If you come to Indonesia especially to Center of Java, the people are so calm and speak so soft and slowly. Sometime you will get surprise when you get there because time moves slow too hahaha... People from the big city in Indonesia come to Center of Java to enjoy the culture and living in there. You must try 😃

It seems the Asians in the Far East have made real strides in slow living. Might be due to their rice growing culture and languages, which require a lot of energy and discipline to learn.
2:36 *1. Learn to say no* 3:47 *2. Turn off devices intentionally* 4:52 *3. Go slow and take time with everyday actions* 6:19 *4. Make no plans and set no expectations* 7:19 *5. Try making and creating* Great video, Christine! I've recently decided to adopt the slow living lifestyle, and what you share is very helpful. I have a tendency to want to push the limit, be efficient, speed things up. But I'm now experimenting with doing the opposite: do less, do it more slowly, but do it well. One thing I find that really helps me slow down is to turn off my phone at night and listen to a good podcast (which I downloaded before turning off my phone). It's a great way to unwind, I can even lie down and close my eyes. I do not allow myself to listen to any business-related podcast. Only storytelling, investigative journalism, or a podcast about meditation. So far, I'm really enjoying being slow! Thanks for the inspiration. 🙏🏻

I’ve always leaned towards a slower living lifestyle: I walk slowly, eat slowly, shower slowly...I try to do my job slowly but it’s corporate and it’s always GO GO GO. I feel like i’m in a constant competition and trying to force something that isn’t me. I’m starting to feel like it’s not me that has the issue-it’s society.
@dawnbarber7980 Жыл бұрын
I am writing you in response to your thoughtful comment about living slow. In my opinion, you are right that it is society that has the issue of going slow and not accept the gift of savoring life's joyous and unexpected moments. I certainly am hoping you had success in going slower in the corporate world and experienced the unexpected joys in life. Best wishes

I really appreciate your enthusiasm and positive voice, some KZfaqrs who live similar "slow" lives talk in an "aesthetic", soft, and low voice. I feel as though when I am watching videos like that, that Im separate from them because that's not how my inner dialogue sounds nor is it realistic to how people talk. Your energized voice makes this whole slow living thing seem a lot more possible for the average person if that makes sense

Before slow living was a thing, I thought I was just weird. Especially when I was a teen. Nowdays I actively seek ways to slow down every day and enjoy my time on earth. I even film slow living vlogs now. The most important thing is to have the intention to slow down. Everything else will come. Just don't expect change to come overnight. Take your time and adapt to a new lifestyle and see what works for you or not. Take care everyone ❤️ great video!

Having a motorcycle is one of the best things to act out slow living believe it or not. I like to take the longer curvy roads rather than flooring it on the highway. People completely undervalue the journey from point A to point B. They need constant stimulation with loud music, speeding, or podcasts. Hell, people can’t even walk their dog without talking on the phone or listen to music. Crazy world.

I’ve tried to watch a few videos about slow living lately and most are too difficult to watch. The creators of the other ones seem to be attempting to slow their speaking down and perhaps trying to use a peaceful voice, but by doing that they lose all the inflection in their voice and turn into a boringly slow monotone. You kept your voice interesting yet calm, so well done! I’m off to check out your other vids now 😁

I think Number 1 should be don't have children and it will definitely help you to have slow living. Children are a huge responsibility, takes up all your time, rushing them to doctor's when they're sick, and rushing to get them to school while rushing yourself to work. Just a few examples as how life is complicated and fast paced when you have children. I forgot to mention stressful too. I didnt even get into when your children have children and they leave you the burden of raising your own grandchildren. Don't get me wrong I love children, but life and your home is much simpler if you don't have any.
@DominickDecocko3 жыл бұрын
Here in Russia, i see an whole era of 50-60 year old ladies that are deeply regretting of not having kids. These people are having mental health issues due to having poor decision early in life. Apparently it was the latest cultural trend to have no kids and no husband during 1980s Socialist Russia. Feminism was so strong on top of Socialist propaganda so abortion was like the coolest thing because "women can be a workforce too!". I don't see "Slow Living" as a good long term solution. For that reason, im out. Children are absolutely must and im tired of being correct. Lots of women today also choose to work instead of staying home and raising children. I think it's incredibly sad. I think majority of women still love children and it's a good substitute of "enjoyable career" but economic situation is not allowing us to live on a single salary.
@saharaleebolo27593 жыл бұрын
@@DominickDecocko children aren't a must. 50-60 year old Russian ladies aren't the voice of majority of the women or men. You'll be surprised how there are more regretful parents and probably even more if it wasn't a taboo to admit that you made a mistake by having a child. The first advice they always say is don't have children. Even the advice of people who don't regret having children is, delay having a child as much as possible. We're really programmed and brainwashed to believe having a child will give us purpose and meaning but I see colleagues always complaining about their children and if it really wasn't a taboo, I bet they'll say, I wish I didn't have one.

@@DominickDecocko Какая забористая чушь, про пропаганду абортов просто ор)) Сам придумал или прочитал в секретных документах?
@xv75193 жыл бұрын
@@saharaleebolo2759 Never mind, what he said is just nonsense. The percentage of old childless women in Russia is very low, because propaganda in Russia has always been pro-birth. And even if these women aren't happy about not having children I guess it's mostly because of the social pressure caused by this propaganda.
@annameyer30983 жыл бұрын
Of course having children adds a lot of stress to one’s life and daily routine. But it also shifts priorities for many. Before having children I was extremely invested in my career, because most of us have an urge to be successful either at work or as homemakers or even both. After having kids I became more relaxed about my work, but now I’m dealing with a different type of stress. However, being a bit stressed is part of out lives as humans. Just living a slow life doesn’t necessarily mean you will be extremely happy. I always feel more happy after having an efficient day than a lazy one. I like a lot of things than the minimalists preach, but sometimes it feels really staged and unrealistic.
