Slow Living in the City | Welcoming July

Its July, summer is in full swing here in London and Im sharing with you a beautiful, slow day at home. Today I will be making granola, preparing a ginger tincture and showing you updates of my tiny balcony garden! I really hope you love the video.

For Granola: this recipe makes around a 1.5L jar
Preheat oven to 180c
-3 cups oats
-3 cups of nuts (any you prefer)
1/2 cup of seeds (e.g sunflower/pumpkin etc...)
-1/3 cup dried fruit (optional)
-1tbsp cinnamon,
1/4 cup coconut oil
-1/4 cup maple syrup/golden syrup
-2tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Mix everything together and put into a baking tin. Bake for 10 mins, then shake it around and repreat 2 more times, baking in total for around 30 mins until the granola is golden.

Your channel is such an inspiration and you articulate things so well. I got into growing and making more food and products during Covid and with the increases in prices it is such a sensible thing to do now, as well as very fulfilling.

And yes, for sure! Growing even just a tiny bit of my own food has put me into a very different mentality....the idea that actually "its possible" and "I can" it's very empowering and you also learn to be creative with your space, whatever you have...and I don't have alot at all, but its made me think more creatively and it was lit if fun! Can't wait for this summer 🤗🌻✨️🌿

I’m from America. Virginia to be exact. Been very hot and humid here too. Some days are to hot to even go outdoors. So haven’t been doing much. Hoping to get to a pool soon. Love your garden.

I think all seasons have their good points and not so good, as well. They each come on with plans for so many projects that are fun and occupy us with fruitful endeavors. But as they progress, the expectations of the next season is on my mind and the next phase of life continues. For my family we are coming up to the canning part of the summer. This is work, but so rewarding all year long. We put out a variety of relishes, pickles, jams, dried fruits and berries. Do you do much canning and drying?

Hi Lika, I"m really fond of your videos they are so relaxing and looking forward to the mentioned future topics too - especially about self-sufficiency. I'm on holiday now and during our journey I could harvest lavender - so I would like to try your syrup recipe. I also leave in a big city, Budapest and it's very hot here as well, so I know what you mean. I like your balcony garden, I just have two tomatoes and a basil, but next year I plan to have more veggies. I wish you a nice week too🙂

Your garden looks so productive and attractive. One of my favourite ways to grow veg is in DIY timber boxes with legs, like small tables. Thanks for sharing all your skills. Best Wishes from Ireland

Hi Lika, I hope you are well. I'm not a lover of summer or should i say the heat of summer to be exact. I find the heat and humid weather to over whelming at times. I'm a true Autumn girl at heart. As a Pagan i follow the Wheel of the year and the 8 Sabbats so my favourite 3 Sabbats are coming up very soon. Lughnasdh, Mabon and Samhain. All Autumn Sabbats and the 3 Pagan harvests. I really hope you enjoy your summer term time off and get time to relax and enjoy the summer until the new term starts in September. The schools around me are finishing next week.
