I guess your foot is feeling much better. That looks like a snow ski boot, I hope that it is on a binding release mechanism? Oh and great skiing, thanks for the slow motion.

Sweet video! What's the speed of the boat for the skier to carve turns like that? I don't ski anymore but drive the boat for my son and his friend, relatively novice skiers but they're getting better every time out. For slalom we range from 28-30 MPH (GPS) and they're in the 145-155 weight range.

Hey Joel, I'm 20 and just got my own ski boat this summer and have gotten more serious about slalom skiing. Live in Michigan, U.S. where all around me are inland lakes for boating. I've never run through a course and the nearest one is over 2 hours away on a private lake. I know very few people who can slalom and even less that are my age. Do you think slalom skiing is a dying sport?

Well, I'm certainly not Joel, but water skiing at a high level is very challenging, technical and puts enormous loads on the body. Consequently many people have migrated to wake surfing, which is relatively easy to pick up and requires a lot less energy and strength. In spring summer and fall I'm skiing three to five days a week and have to get out very early in the morning to beat the wake surfers who turn the lake into shambles. Nevertheless, every day there are a half-a-dozen die-hard water skier parties hitting the boat launch at seven am to get the glassy water. It may not be as popular but water skiing has a pretty fanatical base. There's nothing more exhilarating than laying into a tight turn , throwing up a wall of water and then feeling like you're shot out of a cannon across the wakes.

Glad to hear the young guns getting into it! Can't wait for the wake surfing fad to die.
