@@Snyperwolf91 That is not how I play. I do not just stare at the HP stat. Even if they're not currently in my view, I am keeping track of the location of my enemy and myself in my head. That is where the fun is at. A lot of the gameplay for me, is predicting where my opponent will go. If I know where they are going I can know what direction to shoot and what direction to dodge. The pros do not just shoot and guess.

True, but at the same time NEXTs run on a super particle that nothing in AC6 comes even close to replicating outside of absurdly fast speed builds. Also we can't forget that a UNAC destroyed a rebuilt White Glint, so power scaling in AC games is... Tricky to say the least. I'm not disagreeing with you here, I just wanted to point it out.

@@johnprice6271 In fairness, the thing was pretty noticeably jury rigged with whatever parts they could fit on it. It wasn't nearly as zippy as WG is in ACFA, and the range seems lower than the distance NEXTs could normally engage at.

Heck, the Ibis/SOL units in AC6 seem faster thant the zombiefied glint. Seeing how they zoom around at greater distances more frequently. If anything, it's possible that the N-WGIX/v hits harder, considering that it can shred gen 5 ACs pretty fast, despite them all having about twice the amount of AP than gen 6 ACs.... But that's about it, it lookslike a sitting duck in comparison.

@@zettovii1367 well the N/WGIX-V in game is actually far larger than a Next... i imagine they actually tried to replicate the Next tech, but they measured it wrongly, or the parts they managed to recreate, like the Kojima Particle Generators and other internals, were too big to fit in a 1-1 scale machine, so they made the thing bigger. also the whole bunch of cables hanging from it, and other stuff like the numbers and informative text painted all over its armor platting suggest to me that actually the N-WGIX/V could probably just be a test prototype or was still being put together when J and the Foundation person decided to throw it against the player in the end. also if you actually go stand nearby the feet of it it looks like you're just... 1/5 or 1/6 of its height, that would imply the N/WGIX-V is at least 25-30 meters tall. give how Gen5's are confirmed to be 5 meters tall, half of Gen3's (those being 10 meters tall roughly) and next's being roughly taller (15~ meters max, give or take) so i imagine the N-WGIX/V is slower mostly because of its size and weight... and also weight did impact NEXT mobility in game, GA stuff for example being on the slower end and even comparable to Gen3's in mobility if you take away their quick boost capacity.

Guess you haven't seen the lightweight quad build with extra back mounted boost using any laser blade... Depending on the regulation patch you can easily hit 3000-4500km/h while attacking. In 8 player free for all, everyone was teleporting to each other hitting for half their total AP on single hits.

I think Late-UC Mobile Suits would have a pretty good chance against NEXTs. But in general, yeah you're right, NEXTs are as realistic as you can get with Giant Robots that are extremely powerful in a Grounded Manner.

​@@dragostorm5947It's true though. Keeping up with your own NEXT's movements reminds me of that line in Invincible about breathing in space. My experience with the end game is barely being in control of the damn thing realizing that a single NEXT with two beam sabers could in fact take out the entire planet's infrastructure before anyone could catch up to him. Occupation of Arteria Carpals is nothing short of insane.

@@arachne9780 yeah I did FA with two machine gun arms and a left shoulder mount gattling gun and basically beat the game with it. The cool thing about a 13 year old game with no patches is that the metagame is fossilized.

Runs pretty well on RPCS3 now, but yeah a proper pc port would be so nice.

@@WhatIsLove170Pretty much. Armored Core is a nightmare franchise because pretty much every game has a different publisher. It for decades existed in this weird space where it made enough money from sales to keep FromSoft's lights on but it never made enough to satisfy publishers (you know the eternally hungry ghosts that will still cry more even after they've consumed every resource in the universe) so it was basically a hot potato IP. Just passing from one publisher to the next. So for any sort of AC remake or release Bandai Namco would have to scour the industry buying up distribution rights from companies, some of whom, also no longer exist.

I'm willing to bet most AC6 fans are actually Souls fans and AC6 is their first AC game. People who have played the older titles prior to 6 know that the 4th generation of ACs are the pinnacle of AC technology.

@@SabreKen I never played ACVD, but I've read that "Black Glint's" capabilities were nerfed so much that it isn't even close to how White Glint actually performs. The nerfs were likely done so that the player character can actually stand a chance against it. The devs aren't going to put an enemy in the game that can't be beaten. Can an AC6 mech beat an AI controlled Black Glint? Sure. Players will find the most optimal build to beat it easily, and they'll also adapt to the AI's patterns. But if you pit two players, one with an AC6 mech following that game's mechanics, and another player with an ACFA mech following ACFA game mechanics, the AC6 player is going to lose 100% of the time. If you've never played ACFA, I suggest you try it out to fully understand why that generation of AC is considered the strongest.

​@@SabreKen Well, that "Dark Glint" are nothing but scraps of White Glint that being put together with ACVD technology. One thing that absent in that extremely knocked off "NEXT" and would be crucial in the battle are PA armor. PA armor capability at ACFA are nasty, especially if you port it to AC6. Probably only Coral weapons could deal some little damage (500-1000AP) to NEXT and that's if we somehow managed to hit it. Not to mention NEXT arms maneuverability are far better than even Nachtreiher arms in AC6, FCS locking capability are also faster, weapon choice are also better at DPS and accuracy, Assault Armor are far more lethal. NEXTs are not just all about APs, give a skilled LINX 5k AP NEXT i doubt 4 skilled AC6 pilots could still defeat it. PS. NEXT would be a great 16 player team RAID boss TBH.

Armored Core 6 honestly gamified the formula way too much. Like, Armored Core was always a game, but it always felt like you were making and piloting a giant robot.

I've only played 4, and even then, while I appreciate how powerful NEXT's feel, movement always felt just a bit too clunky. What I like about AC6 is how responsive everything feels.

that can happen but if you look at the cannon time line with what happened between 4 answer and 5 up to verdict day- technology devolved after the cradles crashed down. the ac's in v and verdict day became smaller and slower due to urban warfare. you are able to find buried crash sites of the arms forts from ac 4 and fight an ancient NEXT as a boss in ac v. but then again, i hope you're right instead since miyazaki left the production of armored core after 4 answer to work on souls and ac v was worked on by some one else.

In my opinion, I think NEXTs are as realistic as you can get with a Grounded Real Robot that is extremely powerful.

4 and 4A was the worst armored core game though. It was fun, and I enjoyed PvP for awhile, but it was so terribly balanced. The speed and your reflexes was the only thing that mattered but that why it was a bad armored core game. Its supposed to be about your build strategy and a variety of gameplay styles but 4 narrowed it to only 1 style... speed flyers with machine guns. Almost all the missions can be completed in literal seconds. Some can be completed in under 3 seconds 😂 was terrible. The quickboost launched you halfway across the maps too. And almost all the PvP gameplay is spent shooting at a little dot that would come on and off screen rapidly while you held down the auto-fire buttons.

I played AC3 on an emulator; it's clunky and does NOT hold up well, but it's still a good game!

Ehh I like the 4th gen games but they're pathetically easy and they're crucially built on a concept that doesn't work. There's literally no depth in the combat, it's just spamming QB back and forth while holding down fire. There is one remotely challenging mission in the entire game and it's only hard because you fight a giant horde of ACs all at the same time. Sorry to say it but AC6 is by far the best AC game and nothing is even remotely close to it overall. Mission design, story, level design, production value, skill ceiling, weapon balance, voice acting, graphics, arena. Everything in AC6 is the best in the series by a good bit, and it's the only AC game that has ever been worthy of being called a great game. The rest are good but deeply flawed games, this one fixes all of those core flaws and elevates the series massively by doing so.

@@kylehart8829 i have to agree with you. I loved AC 2 and 3. For the time, they were awesome and innovative. The balance was very well done for its time and it looked great even with its hardware limitations. 4 was a blast to play at first but when I finished the game in one sitting, it left me feeling empty. The speed was fun but its also what ruined the gameplay. Everything was too fast. Then when 5 came out, it was a big step back into what made AC games great but it was hard to get back into it because 4 left my muscle memory twitchy. Once I learned to slow down and use my head again with my builds, I learned to love it. It definitely was flawed still but it was, at the time, my favorite AC game because it felt like a "return to form" while 4 felt like a spin-off. 6 isnt perfect either but they definitely got the balance WAY WAY better now so the game feels like a finished quality product again. Specially with the recent balance patches that eliminated a lot of the annoying meta builds. PvP is fun now.

Also, stop spreading misinformation, Gen 3 games had dual analog controls - Nexus, Ninebreaker and Last Raven. Only AC3 and Silent Line didn't have it in that generation. Don't know about Formula Front.

This was actually on a older build, at some point, I realized that the back boosters were essentially useless and provided absolutely no additional speed, so they're now replaced with dual SAPLAS Cannons.

Yes, they are very much worth getting into but keep in mind the first 3 gen and Nexus trilogy play quite different from the aggresive boosting game of gen 4 and onward I recommend play in chronological order but if not then I recommend Gen 3 being the easiest of the old gen game and For Answer for the new gen

Just be warned that the old PS1/PS2 games have incredibly janky controls as you said, I dont even think AC purists deny this. If you didnt know, your triggers are to look up and down, your bumpers are to strafe left and right, and your D-pad is to move forward and backward (up and down on D-pad) and look left and right (left and right on D-pad). The controls aren't what I would consider "horrible" because you get used to them EVENTUALLY. But I would describe them as "dated" and "incredibly limiting" in what you can do. Expect LOTS of difficulty, because in true fromsoftware fashion, there is little-to-no handholding. I would go with what c-man9406 said. If you want to play Armored Core at its purest form and to experience it entirely, start with AC1 and work your way through them chronologically. If you want slightly (big emphasis on slightly) more modern games with better controls, Gen 3 is a good place to start. on the bright side; the voice acting, sound effects, music, and graphics have so much charm to me. It very much is like a time capsule to a simpler time. Kinda cozy.

As cool as the speed is in concept it means 4A just ends up being one of the easiest games in the series if not the single easiest. You can't have well-designed challenge and goofy anime speed at the same time, and I think 4A is the perfect example of this effect. Emphasis on well-designed, obviously *that mission* exists but nobody has ever argued that it's fun or rewarding in any way.

@@edgargad2941 I personally hope not. 6 has that perfect balance of speed and deliberate action that 4A rather botched in favor of all the speed. Trying to emulate 4A would be a mistake, and just lead to the kind of issues with the speed-based gameplay that 4A had.

The top speed achievable in this game on a good build is 3,500 Km/h. This is a fully combat capable mech that stands about 11m tall. Messing around in testing (no weapons necessary), I've heard of people getting top speeds of 5,000+ Km/h.

Fastest I have seen in 4A was 8000km/h with using both QB and OB at the same time, ~3000km/h with just QB

Actually 1,200 km/h isn't all that fast by AC4A standards. Lighter builds can get up to 3,500 Km/h and still be formidable in combat.

Structurally, it is pretty much the O'Brien's White Glint, besides the arms which are Latona Arms. Also, this was extremely fast because I was playing on Regulations 1.2.

You technically need to point your camera/view to your enemy for your lock on. If you can't keep your sights on your enemy, you're screwed, like as to what happened to that poor sap in this vid.

Never played 4A too but it seems like the enemy health is in the top left corner. Also stagger mechanics are a new thing in AC6 as said by many veterans of the series.

This is in the arena battle. In actual missions you only get status of your own AC and the distance of the enemy. Although ACVD did have more detailed displays I think it was too much.

In ACFA, some major differences you might be concerned of are: -you don't really see any health for any enemies whatsoever unless it's pvp or order matches -stagger DOES exist but it was very rare and would only occur if you had been given big amount of single damage. Mainly explosive weapons excluding missiles and snipers i think. -bonus point about stagger, it works differently in ACVD and AC3

No AC6 stagger mechanic. AC4 and 4A combat has more similarities to dogfights than anything else. Only builds you ever seem to run into in PVP is some version of fast and a lot of it involves trying to keep track of the enemies (there is no hard lock) and fire all the missiles and all the guns at them while trying to get out of their LOS and dodge their fire with your speed.

Enemy health and shield is the 2P number and bar in the top left corner. Stagger was only introduced in ACVI. AC4A is considered a contender for best game in the series, alongside VI, VD, 3 Silent Line, and Last Raven.

GN-SOBRERO as spiidley1 mentioned. It has a mediocre KP Output and EN Capacity, but it makes up for it by having the best EN Output in the game, the best for lightweight machines that have a focus on mobility. But if you have heavier builds, then the ARGYROS/G might be up your alley instead..
