I Bought a WRECKED 2020 Tiguan Rline with NO KEYS - HOW BAD IS IT?

I bought a smashed / written off 2020 VW Tiguan Rline from Copart that has no keys, an obliterated gear box and all airbags deployed. My fist project back for KZfaq in 2023 is a sketchy one..
Will i be able to transform this into the car it once was or is it scrap?

Delighted to be watching more of your work. I did some very similar damage to an A5 3 years ago and broke 7 bones at the same time. Never thought for a second the car may have been fixable. Good luck, looking forward to following your progress.

I know you are in Peterborough but it might be worth reaching out to Salvage Rebuilds UK. They use some mobile bloke who does Kent and Essex? Seems to be super competent. I have also seen that some airbag companies will refold intact but inflated curtain airbags so that might be more cost effective than new or new 2nd hand airbags??

Hi, i like the Videos..! It's good to see an Armature Mechanic getting stuck in , as it were..! I am a Qualified Mechanic/ Technician but i would not attempt those bodywork repairs..! Due to the lack of Technical Expertise in Bodywork and the Expenses of Paying someone to do it for me..! I doubt there is much profit, "if any" in those salvage repairs that you do..! Even though, you might enjoy it..! 🤔🤔

Thank you. I suppose it all depends on how much you initially buy the car for and the price of the bodywork side of things. Most projects for YT just break even, some lose and some gain. All evens out overtime 👍

Just subscribed. I’m interested to know how much VW charged you for the key as I’m being quoted £400+ for my Seat Ateca and it seems I can only get these from a dealer despite already having one key already.

Thank you. It was around £270. If you already have a key a good locksmith should be able to cut and code a lot cheaper 👍

Can’t you find a company to program the key remotely if you have vcds?

Need ODIS for key coding. VCDS wouldn’t be enough. I don’t have ODIS 😭

You could have had the mobile lock smith come and do keys without getting it from vw probably been less then half as much

Yeah tried about 100 different ones. Once I told them the car and the year - all couldn’t do it or wanted over £1k. The partial key coding at VW was the ‘key’ to the locksmith being able to do the rest on the driveway

Oh wow sounds pretty cool! I would consider an EV - I just know nothing about the electrical side of things and don’t want to die so have steered clear so far 😬😂
