About The Game: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (known as Sly Raccoon in Europe and Australia) is a platform stealth video game created by Sucker Punch Productions that was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2002. The game was followed by three sequels, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. On November 9, 2010, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, as well as its first two sequels, were released together as The Sly Collection, a remastered port of all three games on a single Blu-ray disc as a Classics HD title for the PlayStation 3.

I have to disagree about Sly's voice. I think it fit him pretty well. He's a calm and cocky guy, never really letting things bother him. Though his voice gets a lot better in Sly 2 and beyond

18:57 he replaced his entire body with mechanical parts so that he could live forever and hunt down coopers offspring. If thats not effort idk what is. hands down one of the coolest villains in all of gaming.

Yeah, while sly doesn't sound excited as the others, I really took his voice as a bit more of him trying to stay quiet since he's out in the field, always keeping his cool no matter the circumstances.

You know, I've never clicked the 'The Completionist' episodes because I've always thought it's just a video about you, 100%-ing a game, which is something that I personally less connect with. But I happened to click this one (as I'm a big Sly fan) and was surprised and delighted to see it's a 20-30 min video with your own opinion and review of the game mixed with some pleasant, not overdone humor. Exactly my cup of tea for KZfaq gaming videos. What I'm basically saying is that maybe it's better to think of a better way to communicate what these videos are actually about. Great video btw! - Michael, loving your videos all the way from Israel.

Sly Cooper, the Assassin's Creed of old some might say. Or I say, like just now. How does this game hold up over the years? Granted I did not play it while I was younger, so I do not have nostalgia glasses to bias myself. Overall I found this to be a very rewarding and fun game. Truly a classic platformer. What do you think?

I think it held up better then hydro thunder and nfs underground 2. which where amazing back in the day. go ahead pop them and watch your eyes start to hurt. they aged like that hot chick you liked in high school but found out later she was into crack and then she looks like a zombie now, all half decayed and stuff.

Jirard: Sly is a thief, so staying hidden is crucial to his game plan. Also Jirard: Sky is way too calm and quiet when he speaks.

I love the soundtrack for this game, especially times when guards spot you and the music picks up a lot and then dies down when you go back into the shadows. But my absolute favourite was the song that plays when you get a treasure key. So satisfying

I don't typically post comments, but I need to say thanks. I was never a big platform gamer, stuck mostly to racing games and JRPGs growing up. Watching your review of this made me branch out and pick up and play the entire Sly Cooper series. It now ranks pretty high up on my series.

Noriaki Kakyoin the only way to beat that fight properly on the remastered version is to mute the TV. And even then it’s an unreasonable length for a QTE where you have maybe one or 2 hit lives.

+Sophia Brandt ehhhhhhhhh id have to disagree because the contessa chapters drag on so long that i just cant enjoy myself in those levels. i think sly 3 is better because the only part that really feels like it drags to me is the pirate ship which isnt nearly as long as the section before it.

I have to say 3 is the best. I have played through 3 like twice and I don't think I ever beat 2. The gameplay was too repetitive. There were too many missions that felt the same and the dialogue didn't feel quite up to par. The dialogue was best in 3 I felt and the gameplay was a lot more varied.

Man, seeing this video really brought back some memories. This was one of the games that I grew up on, and I have many fond memories of it. It was probably the first game that I managed to complete, and looking back on it, it was worth the hours of time I've put into it, playing through many times. I'm glad to see that you enjoyed it as much as I did, Jirard. As for a series that I just now got into after holding off on for a while, that would be Phantasy Star. I've heard great things about it, and I got one of the games about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Only now, however, am I really digging into the series, and I seriously regret not playing them earlier.

+Darkrai110 At times it can be entertaining. but when the game is filled with hand-holding help prompts spammed throughout the whole game reminding you how to do things you were taught how to do since the TUTORIAL level (which you CAN'T turn off btw), clunky controls (i.e characters' combat animations are extremely rigid and un-fluid, and piss poor jumping mechanics-- just to name a few), repetitive boss battle structure, nonsensical plot twist with a certain character, and *SPOILERS* The final boss being a lazy and super repetitive quick-time-event-fest--- I just can't help but feel that Sly 4 is the worst game of the series.

This was one of my favorite games as a kid, so much so that even though the only one of the original trilogy that I didn't play was Sly 3 I bought the whole re-release collection and completed all three games because they were that much fun. I hope you do the rest of the series, it's definitely worth it.

The only thing that bugged me was the 1 Hit K.O, if its easy, why did they add a health meter in Sly 2 and 3?

Kimarnic Dash Thats also true. Nice variety, but most of the time it feelt like you needed a total expert to beat these games. And as much I like Muray, I never really enjoyed the racing games.

I argue AoStH, the Mario Cartoons and the Mega Man cartoon were toneally perfect, but they had other problems. DKC was funny for all the wrong reasons and Zelda should have another go as it's more refined nowadays.
