Well, there are pump designs that don't require electricity, but yes, Peterhof's fountains rely entirely on height pressure.

Important thing about Peterhoff fountains. They work without pumps, just due to gravity. So the water just flows, from the hill to the Gulf of Finland, interrupted by those beatiful fountains.

Ну в последние годы безопасность еще хорошо поддерживается за счёт камер. Когда вся площадь города покрыта камерами и по ним можно выследить нарушителя в считанные часы. Неотвратимость наказания как всегда лучший друг порядка )

Лиговка исторический район гопников, его там ночью не ограбили только потому что он чёрный. Это не шутка типа того что его не видно ночью, ведь ночи белые. Просто откровенных туристов не грабят.

На всякий случай, на куполах церквей на самом деле настоящее золото, только не сами купола из золота, а покрыты сверху сусальным золотом. Сусальное золото - это такой тонкий слой золота, чем-то напоминает алюминиевую фольгу, только тоньше и легче, таким золотом можно покрывать что угодно, не только купола)) Сама традиция золотых куполов исходит из Византии, а Россия уже очень давно считает себя преемницей Византии, точнее, так считали цари, так как еще Древняя Русь очень много переняла в плане церкви и христианства именно от Византии. Душнить не буду, если коротко, то купола с настоящим золотом))

Hey Sly, I'm so glad you went to Russia to experience it first hand. Back in the states, 9 out of 10 people will tell you "don't go to Russia", you must be crazy, especially under such world environment. We're brainwashed all the way by whoever, but as an individual, we should always question everything we're told. You inspire me to return to Russia again, hopefully before the end of this summer. I'm English living in the UK and I visited Russia in May staying in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. I enjoyed every minute of it and felt safe at all times and the people were welcoming and helpful. In fact I loved it so much I'm visiting again in July. I found the reaction from people I know here in the UK has been very similar to you in USA. To me it's now become funny and I take the opportunity to educate them about Russia.

That's great to hear! I'm Russian, currently living in Kazan. I highly recommend you to visit this city. We got another culture and atmosphere here. If Moscow and Saint Petersburg are furios, Kazan is the opposite. It's more calm, and you can feel more relaxed here.

Thank you so much for your videos. As a grandmother i really enjoy it that you are seeing the world and I often share your videos with my young adult and teen age grandchildren. Its so important to travel and see the world and get a different prospective on life in other countries. I shook my head when you compared St Petersburg with San Francisco. Nowhere did I see homeless mentally ill drug addicts living in tents, robbing and harassing people and destroying property. Not to mention the filth and stench you get walking thru the streets. St Petersburg appears to have a more peaceful and calmer environment. Once again thanks for your videos and I wish you safety and peace in your travels. .

В этом году я в 5-ый раз побывал в Санкт-Петербурге. Этот город мне нравится намного больше чем Москва. Атмосфера, люди… Все другое… Эх, но сейчас не об этом. И только в этом году мне довелось побывать в петергофе ( всем рекомендую добираться туда на метеорах ). Да, там очень красиво. Можно довольно хорошо провести там время, но больше всего меня зацепили плакаты которые расположены вдоль дорожек. Когда я читал о том как фашисты все это грабили и ломали ,меня просто начало трясти от злости и в то же время я пустил слезу… После того как прочитаешь о том, как все это строили и восстанавливали начинаешь на все это смотреть абсолютно другими глазами…

Да, в сентябре 1941 года в этом парке погиб мой дядя по маме. Тогда погиб почти весь десант из Кронштадта, примерно 500 бойцов. Ему было 18 лет. В советское время пытались молчать про этот десант, так как пять рот отправили фактически на смерть, но это был отвлекающий удар, такая война была.

The difference between the USA and Russia is that in the USA only very well-off people can be safe, have good food and dress elegantly, but in Russia this is available to everyone. The development of spaces for recreation of the masses is something that has been preserved since the times of the USSR. Boating, beautiful free parks, public beaches, museums, theaters, cinemas, barbecue areas, skiing, sledding in winter and most importantly, all this is free or costs so much that everyone can pay.

I'm basing this from visiting Russia in 2023 and from my friends who have also spent time in Russia. I have visited over 35 countries in my life, and many of them that my American countrymen who deem as "dangerous" soley based on western media. In my experience, those countries are not as they are portrayed by the media. I also speak with lots of Russian people, in fact, recently i spoke with many Russians in Phuket, Thailand, and Nha Trang Vietnam. BTW, propaganda is EVERYWHERE... on TV, Ytube, and especially on social media, and it's all over the internet , so what does "watching TV" have to do with anything? I don't watch any tv myself except maybe the occasional football match.

Не согласен. Петергоф появился благодаря впечатлениям от Версаля. Царь увидел и сказал: хочу такой же, но лучше... Мне Петергоф больше нравится. Я был в Версале в 2011 году. Красиво, но.. французы включают (может включали, а сейчас норм) фонтаны только на 2 часа в день. А без струй фонтанов вид не тот- парк и парк:)) А ещё билеты. Отдельно на дворец, отдельно на парк.

Когда мы с семьей были во Франции и экскурсовод узнала что мы из Питера, она сразу сказала что в Версаль мы можем не ехать) так как после Петергофа он нас ни чем сильно не удивит. Зато Фонтенбло действительно прекрасен 😊

You can take a hydrofoil ship to peterhof from the pier by the winter palace. As far as i remember it takes around 40 mins to get there

One thing I remember about Versailles was that the palace rooms were divided into two, a half for people to walk and a half representing what the room used to look like, blocked off. They literally gutted most of the rooms like that. It's a travesty. Nothing like that in Peterhof.

Вырос в Санкт-Петербурге. Питер - рукотворная красота. Петергофф - роскошь в абсолюте. Пушкинская 10 и в целом культура питерских "квартирников" и так далее - особый мир. А если надо посмотреть на удивительную природу - это на Алтай! Завтра вылетаю домой с Алтая... Добрался до Уймонской долины... Несколько дней просто сбывалось дыхание от восторга - каждый метр, каждый поворот - запредельная Красота! Местные смеялись, говорили где то в горах есть "по настоящему красиое" - озера и вершины... Но если то, что видишь просто выйдя на крыльцо деревенского дома там - это "так себе" то от их "по настоящему красиво" я, наверное, просто упаду замертво. Не рискнул в этот раз))) Россия - ОЧЕНЬ большая. Целый мир. Приезжайте на подольше. Правда на Алтае, в глубинке, и россиянину не просто - многие сервисы не работают, инфраструктура слабая (ну, я про отдаленные места - есть на Алтае и цивильные туристические центры). Но зато природа такая, что я просто не ожидал. Это как другая планета!

The palace is amazing. Food in Russia is amazing; very fresh in most cases. One of the things that impressed me, and you can see a bit in your video, is the lack of signage/marketing. There are signs and advertisements for the stores but not nearly as many as in the U.S. I found that part of it quite wonderful. The Metro is incredible to walk through. When Western companies left Russia, the businesses were just rebranded with similar/new names and kept serving the same foods! LoL!

Ngl as a brotha from Detroit I never would’ve gone to Russia in today’s climate and even said as much a few vids ago, but you’ve really motivated me man. St Petersburg is more my speed since it’s so European and the type of architecture I like. I remember learning about the tsar’s efforts to bring Russia in line with other European powers in the 18th century so that’s why it gives off such a strong Western European vibe

Everything is fine with freedom of speech in Russia. Yes, I guess there are limitations, but if you gonna tell me there are none in the U.S. - I'll laugh in your face. This whole "Land of the free" thing is a myth Americans like to tell themselves. Probably U.S. used to be free, but definitely not today. And in Europe people's freedom is limited even more. And btw, majority of things they tell in the West as examples of Russia "not having freedom" are simply not true.

Oh Sly, I hope you visited much more than you showed. I hope you entered museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg, maybe theatre. If not.. dear, you robbed yourself. I don't know what the purpose and concept of your travel, maybe it's just to catch simple vibes from the streets and people.. which is also great! But let me tell, you missed so much. I hope it will inspire you to return one day and see all you missed, and with local guide or friend - I saw sooo many people in the comments who was happy to arrange a tour for you for free. Just see how welcoming Russians are to Americans despite the hatred the leaders of both countries have for each other. I really think it's much better to experience life in Russia than listen to what all these so-called news outlets say about it

Здравствуйте, откровенно вам скажу, у нас в России нет активной пропаганды против сша или жителей, так же и против других стран. Приезжих из разных стран много и государство у нас всегда было многонациональным, поэтому стараемся друг другу помогать не зависимо от цвета кожи, разреза глаз, языка, знаю, что для некоторых наций это даже странно, но в России так. Главное уважать друг друга, и культуру друг друга.

Главное - не включать телевизор, где истерично орут круглые сутки про "войну с коллективным Западом" (куда, кстати, входит и США); про то, что Украина должна перестать существовать как государство; про то, как здорово запульнуть ядерную бомбу в ключевые города ЕС и тд. А ещё - не читать ни разу не расистские объявления арендодателей по типу "сдам квартиру, только славянам".
