🍁 It really is a fun-time for sure. Kind of sad it's over.. but it's snowing as I type, so who knows what tomorrow's going to bring lol.

You and miss lady are killing it! Love to see your videos. Keep it up! Thanks for breaking it down and putting it into context thats easy to grasp. Wish i could try to make maple syrup here in the deep south in the states.

🙌Thank you so much! I bet you have some state-specific delicacies and recipes we in the north couldn't even dream of. We'll have to maybe setup some kind of a swap mid-way some time, figure out where that is on a map... 😂😂

@@simplewoodslife sounds good! Homemade Cane syrup or Sorghum syrup comes to kind as an equivalent.

@user-lg6eg6ch8i well now I'm going to have to look up both those things. Assume cane is sugar cane? My only noggin reference to sorghum is in relation to hearing it (maybe) when my wife has had an elaborate baking recipe... flour or wheat or something? I'M OFF TO THE GOOGLE! ⚡

@@simplewoodslife sorghum is pretty interesting, not native ti the states but became a live stock grain, and cane was a staple of many people for lively hood and mass production. It’s a dying art here in the south. Few do it still, and i wish i had the means to continue that on. Its so very interesting, and to me, it is an art. Hope you find your delve into those types of syrup production as interesting as i do.

🙌Thank you very much, appreciate the kind words! Maple syrup is a blast, and what's not so apparent in the videos I think is the hidden community around it. The amount of folks that want to get in on the conversation when they over-hear you mention making it out and about is amazing. Nevermind the folks on KZfaq that have connected and shared their stories all about the sticky process 😀 If you can get a chance to make some, or head out to a sugarbush when it's in fully swing, I'd totally suggest it. Salt of the earth folks just having a lovely, simple time!

Yes, you know what the ingredients are and that is so true and it does taste better, wowza filter big enough for a couple hats :), great video, hats off literally because you take pride in your syrup and the preparation and I like that thank you.

🙌Thank you! That's a mega filter eh? Seems pretty overkill for our current setup, but they're washable and with care should last years. If we can double our taps next spring, then hopefully it won't look so comically large ha! 🍁

Thanks Chris! Easter was good, hectic as it always is when you wrangle that many folks into a central spot lol, but lovely nonetheless. Hope you guys had a wonderful time too. I have been noodling some sugar shack ideas... really should maybe consider sharing those eh? We just had a bout of winter again; been snowing for 24 hours now, hydro went out for 12, massive winds and all the like. Feels like I should be tapping the trees soon 😂😂😂🍁

🙌 Thank you! So rad to hear you're getting the sugaring itch! How's the sap flowing for you? We're all but done... I mean, we're done - but I'm holding out for the off-chance of just another couple more big pails

love it. you vids are very entertaining. verging on 'edutainment'. I do cringe every time I see you place a sap filled pan on your already lit barrel. lol I usually load the wood, pan on, fill the pan, then light the fire.

hahahahahahahaha! Not more than a week ago, Joe at The Youngblood Family Farm gave me the same advice... never really thought about it, but I do have a surprising lack of arm hair during the spring months.

😂😂😂🎩 I think somewhere in the vicinity of 5 or 6 that I'd wear because they're "decent".. In terms of scrubbers for choring, oh man add another 5 there. Is that too many hats?

Hi @stateofmainefishing! Ms Lady, here :) Oven is 400°F, leave them in for at least 15 min. Doesn't hurt them to have them in a bit longer!
