I have followed a few points of advice that you have given and it has helped me pay off my debt. I have switched it to mint mobile and I have started saving money in a dividend fund. I also have use an Excel sheet to track all of my expenses and to cut down on groceries and bulk pay down my debt. By December, all goes well, my car will be paid off. Things are not going as fast as I would like but things are working out. My debt is getting paid off.

When I was growing up, in primary school and mostly in high-school, I felt like a fish out of water. My friends talked about clothes brands and I looked at them with an odd expression in my face like " what are talikng about?" My parents had never bought me brand clothes and I didn't know even half of the names. I was always thinking "who cares about such things? I felt stupid to spend so much money when I could have what I wanted for les than half the price. Once I worked for a lawyer. One day as I was chatting with an intern, she said she had spent 1.000 euros for a bag. I almost jumped through the window. I just thought "what?????" She could have gone on 10 days vacation to a 4starr hotel. People are so manipulated.

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids and my side hustle is throwing yard sales. I declutter all year long and save it in the garage and also receive extra free stuff from friends and neighbors and have a sale once a month starting in April or May through September and that really helps my family. I also post things that didn't sell, online during the winter months.

We have eaten out once in 3 years, we got a lot of push back from family that was visiting our area for a reunion and they were all going out for lunch, and we bowed out. We don't want to eat processed foods, and we know that we feel like crap after eating out. So to ensure that we would be feeling up to the following day's reunion event, we ate home cooked meals. Unfortunately family members eat out 2-4 meals a week when at home, so we look cheap, or poor. Oh well, you don't need to please people, and we are okay with being the weird one's. But it's my money saved, and my health is better. 😊

I do similar suggestions to the TV dinner thing, for my husband's work lunches. I buy meat at 50% off, cook it up, add cheap veggies & boom, he's got lunches. It costs me $5-10/week for 12 "lunches" as opposed to him buying for $15-20 CND each day PER MEAL which would be $30-40 a day or 180-240 a week. Just for his lunches (he takes either breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner depending on his shifts.

Shampoo and conditioner bug me a lot. When you shampoo your hair you strip out all the natural oils (and you don’t need to shampoo twice) and then you use conditioner to put artificial oils back in. I have really dry hair so I only shampoo once a week.

I recently saw an ad for Tide Pods that are now 80% larger. This is in Canada. I don’t buy the pods. I like to control the amount of laundry detergent I put in each load of wash. Some loads are bigger, some smaller, some dirtier, some only need a refresh from sweating but not grimy. So with pods being 80% bigger you are wasting way more detergent than is needed.

Prepper princess, I think I'm somehow related to you lol😅 I quite often wonder why people drink or smoke. I simply thought it's waste of money and harmful to health. My father always used to tell us right from an early age, "Never try anything which might lead to addiction later in life". I followed my father's advice, never touched nor tasted alcohol, never tried smoking, never went to parties. But I socialize with my friends going to nearby parks and going for long walks etc. I never do unnecessary shopping, I'm a minimalist ( i don't buy any stuff), I saved up so much money and bought 5 homes in 3 different countries ( with no mortgage) I'm very thankful to my dad for teaching me good values in life 🙏👍 also, I donate food & clothes to charities which makes me happy.

I use baking soda or lemon juice to wash my hair twice a week. Make my own laundry soap with Baking Soda, Borax, Washing Soda (4# each) and three grated bars of castile soap ($16 makes enough for three months). Turned off my cable two years ago - instead I buy DVD's at thrift stores and read books. I haven't purchased new clothes in 20 years, thrift shops are my happy place (I do buy new underwear.) I also sew - mostly re-working items from thrift stores. I cook from scratch, including making my own bread. Retired, living on social security, my one debt is my mortgage. I also window shop. Wanting something is not the same as needing it. Walk away three times - usually by the third time you will be over it.

I successfully completed a "no buy" year when it was the "thing" to do. And then the pandemic hit and I could find nothing to replace what I had purposely not purchased...and then when stores began to open, inflation quickly rose... So the socks that I didn't buy over the course of my no buy year...now cost me almost double the price if not more...so what did I really save???...I learned that it's not about not spending your money....but instead be smart and strategic with how you spend it. Living my best life debt free!.

Yes yes, yes! People compliment on my skin and how young and healthy I look, and when I say that's because I only take 3 showers a week because my skin feels so much smoother and healthier than showering every day and how I only use coconut oil (at night) instead of those expensive body lotions they look at me with disdain be cause OMG what a dirty hippie 🙄. OK then keep dehydrating your skin with those hot showers and fraganced products and get wrinkly faster, to each its own but why the judgment 😐

For most folks it's a death of a thousand cuts and worse, those cuts wound deep. For instance, our big weekend breakfasts start with turning on the light "breakfast" jazz and heading into the kitchen. I make pancakes, waffles or other main while my wife cooks the sausage or bacon and eggs. It's a wonderful, relaxed breakfast for a little under $2/serving and the food is always perfect...we serve real maple syrup as well. The leftovers are easily reheated the next morning for an easy Sunday breakfast with freshly made eggs. Compare this to eating out...on Sunday we politely listened to my parents tell us how they ate out at a popular diner after church. What started as a 20 minute wait for a table turned into 45 minutes with no place to sit and wait which is difficult if you're in your 80's. The place was over-packed with tables, chairs and customers and the food was expensive and not very good. My mom alone dropped $17.55 with tax and tip for eggs Benedict served with hash browns and she found it disappointing, especially at that price. I noticed a smile form on my wife's face that slowly grew bigger. I didn't have to wonder why, I knew that she was mentally comparing our breakfasts to their expensive experience that morning. So many times we find this same thing to be true, the far less expensive option is the better one and can't be beat at any price. Cheers!

I agree with the marketing gimmicks getting people to spend more on disposables. I've had the privilege of traveling around the world. Visiting developing countries really puts things in perspective! Less waste. Less disposables is just normal life. They don't waste food. They make do and mend. The children are happy to go to school. It always reminds me of how much excess we have in USA and that its not the key to happiness.

I’m fortunate to have great insurance through Medicare. I get an allowance every 3 months to buy personal care items through them. I dumped cable, and got mobile service through them for $29.99 a month with a free line for a year. When they asked why I was getting rid of the cable, I told them I was disabled, and going through a divorce and had to cut expenses- they gave me basic cable for nothing. Today I’m making banana bread muffins from bananas that are over ripe. Started clearing out my closet too. I’m considering getting a roommate too - but have to take care of a few things before I do.

I really like how your channel treats the topic directly linking it to frugality instead of acting like it’s going to be an apocalyptic scenario, nah, it don’t take no apocalypse to lose power, all it takes is being broke! I save a ton of money on beverages. I make my own iced and hot coffee and tea, lemonade, fruit drinks, vegetable smoothies, milkshakes, etc...and I dilute fruit juices (apple, orange, pineapple) with tap water to double or triple the volume. I love your common sense list of ideas to save money! Thank you too for busting the myth that people need to shower daily! My skin & hair has benefitted from showering only 2-3 times/week & our water bill has gone down too! Also, one of the smartest advertising slogans ever was "smells clean!" People think that the scented items create the best clean, but it's just scent! Bicarb, vinegar & water cleans pretty much everything really well & is heaps cheaper & saves room in the shelves storing a myriad of cleaning bottles! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Compounding! If you can use a spreadsheet, I find the best way to transition to frugal lifestyle is to track everything $$. Also motivated by not buying into the consumer culture. Let go little by little and less becomes more.

I've worked out at home since I was a teenager. I just kept doing the math. One year could pay for a home gym that would last for 20 years.

Thanks much much for your videos. I was working everyday. Now just 2 days. Meal planning. Solar power. Food swapping. It's am. I never had debt. But all the rest. I just made 5.25€ on a 60 min walk on pop cans . Just picking them up on my walk. That's 575€ a year on my walks with how often I take them. So that's 2x rollercoaster parks annual passes! Xx thank you xxx

Our chocolate lab Gracey loves to pick up tree branches that she finds in the yard and if they fall when she's out there she gets even more excited cuz she thinks it's something that she's supposed to run and get. I love how Nala actually did bring it into your house.

I don’t like cable tv. I gave my hard earned money to a cable company for years. The service was very bad and they kept raising the prices. One day I got fed up got my boxes and went to the cable office and turned them in. The lady said what are you going to do for tv I said put up an antenna she laughed and said it will never work we live in a valley this is the only tv you can get here. I put up my Antenna I only get 7 channels now only 4 because lightning struck the tower they will get it fixed. And I got a Roku and I found Philo for 20.00 a month and that was in 2017 Philo has never raised my price. You give good advice.

Also to add Pods are a huge waste of money, very expensive, Kirkland brand liquid laundry detergent a dupe of tide, i only measure to level 2 for most loads and it makes the larger container stretch for months. I also switched to disgwasher powder after the dishwasher pods reached up to 20 bucks in Canada, one box for 7.99 has lasted me over 6 months.

Since I only wash my hair every 5 days I don’t need conditioner. 2 tsp of detergent is fine if you don’t overstuff and work in an office

Hi Prepper Princess I like your book. Right now I got a new renter kind of feel overwhelmed. My realtor suggested that I be a landlord again. I just had a horrible rental agreement last year.’ I hope to try to change to t mobile one day. Right now I have to stick to at and t hopefully I can lower my bills for two cell phones. I have a slow speed at and t modem. I didn’t get spectrum because I don’t watch sports. Your pet dog is adorable. Now I have to watch my budget and trying to get over my shopping habits. I finally donated old clothes, bags, and shoes to the Goodwill. It is not so easy to live in this day in age have a great summer 👍😀also thank you for the good advice on how to save detergent and shampoo 👍

Eight years ago I was introduced to a company called Norwex. I do not sell Norwex. I love their products. While it may seem pricey to start using their products, in the long run I save a lot of money. One teaspoon of laundry detergent for a full load. Wash windows with water and a window cloth. Microfiber cloths eliminate the need for household cleaners. No need for papertowels. It's great to go to the grocery store and not have all the non food items filling my cart.

I LOVE norwex! Dampen their cloth and it gets marks off walls and floor better than Mr clean sponges without paint damage AND doesn't disappear lol. Norwex cloth uses silver and gets rid of bacteria just using water. I like the laundry detergent too, but it's definitely not heavy duty stain removal. I don't sell it either lol.

Near Chicago--between garage sales and rummage sales my shirts are $1 or less. My neighbors give me stuff, I get swag from places I volunteer and my kids. I buy only underwear and shoes new. Here in Illinois, I use the dryer til clothes are damp, then hang on the rack. We eat vegetables and fruit for snacks. Occasionally, popcorn, homemade. Tina, Al's wife

Here's a tip for small-dog toys. When the favorite soft ones are worn out, buy some cheap socks or use old ones and put the old toys in the socks. Tie tight knots and your little fur baby will love chewing on and/or playing fetch with them. Be careful not to use cheap socks with the stringier elastic. Unfortunately our dollar store started stocking only those. You can even stuff new socks with the old chewed socks!! My dog loves trying to chew through to the old treasures within! 😉

Menstrual products that you don't have to buy every month do exist. You don't have to make your own. I used my last Diva cup for 10 years. The only reason I got a new one was because I wanted it.
