Thanks for sharing! I can do this, I'm sure, as a 65 year old. 😃 Have plans for lots of small concrete projects. Precious how you included your children at the end, especially your son and how you kissed him and told him that you love him. He said, "I love you too, Dad." 👨‍👦 Tears...

Your kids will remember that and made me happy to see it. Many dads either don't teach or don't allow "help" because they'll mess something up. Good on you! Wish all men did this with their kids.

Great job dad! I’m a semi retired contractor and new home builder. I enjoyed your video, specially towards the end. I have tried multiple times to get my kids involved, my son is only a go for demolition and daughter is only a go for the landscaping part. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special type to be a DAD! Well done sir.

the best video when you involved the kids. My dad would do the same and I still remember those days. Now that I am a full grown adult my husband says I am not capable of concreting a small pad for the rubbish bins. This is a joke right coming from a full grown man. I even want to attempt my own decking and he says he will rip it out and destroy it.

That was awesome! Thank you for sharing. I like your electric concrete mixer. I just did my 1st concrete pad few days ago, did a "dry pour", it turned out o.k. so far, it's very early. I learned a lot watching YT videos & doing my 1st concrete pad. But next time I will go with the traditional mixing, either rent or buy an electric mixer, that seems to be the time tested method. As others have commented, awesome to have your kids involved.

Thanks for this video! My wife wants me to replace our tiny back patio with a larger slab. Between this and a couple other videos, I think we can do this ourselves over a couple of weekends. Now that I’m semi-retired, I have the time to do this without being rushed. Since she wants a paver-like pattern, I want to do this in 3-foot wide X 10’ sections at a time so I can apply the pattern before moving to the next section. What I really liked was how you prepared the ground. It was also great to see your kids helping; they can proudly talk about how they legitimately helped, and they’re learning life skills.

Trick I learned Cut a piece of wood the height you want of slope. Say 1 inch in ten feet. Take the 1 inch piece of wood cut to width of your level. And tape it on bottom of your level. When you set that on your form board and when your bubble centers. You are at a grade.
