SMALL DOG day HALLOWEEN party! 3 GERMAN SHEPHERD puppies meet the small dog pack for the first time

Today was our Small Dog Day pack’s turn to celebrate Halloween with a party at the farm. There was a super squad of Mini Dachshunds, a pride of Lion Oodles, some spooky Cavaliers, Wonder-ful Havenese, cuddly monster Cocker Spaniels and a hot dog Chihuahua!
We ate chicken cake, it was delicious, but definitely Aunty Sam’s most horrifying as it was a bloody bone!
Albert the Mini Dachshund dived in the pool again and totally took us all by surprise. You’ll have to watch carefully or else you might just miss it!
We reminisced about our dear Jelly the Cocker Spaniel that has passed and how uncanny it is that his great granddaughter Amber is so similar. To the point that Amber walks the exact same path as Jelly did at the farm.
At the beginning of the video we have some fun with the German Shepherd puppies getting into Halloween costume, but it was a special milestone for them. Today was the first day they met one of the packs. They’ve socialised with our pack and the dogs sleeping over, but this was their first experience with a big pack of small dogs and they did brilliantly. Very calm and relaxed. They played well, even the timid girl has let go of her initial fears when meeting new doggies. They’re fast becoming more confident than Cutie Pie!

Puppies, small dogs in Halloween costumes- doesn't get much cuter! It was nice to see Jason in the pool, he has such a wonderful way with the dogs. Amber is too precious for words. Albert's big splash was great!

A very long time ago when dressing your dog for Halloween was not seen much 1997! I dressed my first beagle Barley as Batman. He won best costume at a party! He was such a good boy, we rescued him from an abusive life. It took some time (6months) to overcome his fears then Barley was loving and sweet to all, especially kids. Miss you sweet boy, you started us on the path to rescue beagles.

Population of Australia: 25 million plus. FTLOG how can DDFT’s only have 38.7K subscribers? This channel SHOULD be top of the charts in its homeland and NEEDS to be so these awesome ppl can continue their work with shelter dogs. Luke, Sam, their family, and devoted staff need a bloody shout out by their fellow Australians! We love them here in ABQ NM, and look forward to watching the latest video before bedtime every night.

Those 3 puppies have wonderful, distinct personalities. I enjoyed seeing them interact with the small dog pack. And it was great seeing most of the littles up close and still. Made it easier to match up faces to names. Adorable.

Lucy's pups are so gorgeous and very well socialised. They are going to make fabulous pets. I will miss seeing them once they move to their new homes. I hope that a beautiful soul will adopt Lucy and give her a fabulous retirement home with lots of love.

As always, Small Dog Day is full of cuteness overload - it really does wonders to the heart. At last, Jason you braved the pool - great to see but you need a new hat with a brim that turns up like Luke's - that hat will almost certainly be fodder for Mr Gilbert to grab - can't wait to see that on Friday. The cuteness level definitely went up a notch at the end - Two Men and a Little Girl cuddling and playing with small dogs AND 3 little puppies. All is well with the world - if only it was possible to bottle this up and spread it around the world.

Carol, I thought the same thing about Jason's hat...it looks all nice and new now, but you never know when one of the little "sharks" might take a liking to it!😂 So true about the love session on the lawn (and pretty much everything at the farm)...definitely good medicine for the soul!🥰🥰🥰

Loved seeing Albert jump in the pool ! Precious! Love love small dog day! So happy to see Jason in the pool with the dogs, he has doggie love for them too! Costumes were precious. The pups are doing so well and it’s all because of all if you. Making memories for the family is special. Sorry that Jelly has passed. He was such a beautiful dog, so are his offspring. Just like humans, decedents mimic their ancestors. Today’s video was AWESOME ❤️🦴🐾❤️

Great to see Jason in the pool too. Love Pickles with the shark fin. Amber is so sweet. There is just something special about puppies. I think that one puppy wants to go home with Jason.

One of the many aspects I’ve come to love about your videos is watching the different breeds in motion. Its so rarely seen, anywhere, and it’s gorgeous to see these majestic creatures, big and small, in slow-motion and regular speed. You can really identify how their were designed for their roles, whether sporting, working, herding etc. You guys have such an intimate interaction with the pups it’d be great if you highlighted one breed a video, even if just a couple sentences, of what you notice about their temperament, agility, etc. Pairing the right breed with an owners needs and lifestyle is so important and for people looking to add to their pack or for those getting their first pup, your knowledge would be invaluable! As a ‘mom’ of Newfies and flat-coated retrievers, I’m always sharing my experience and people really enjoy learning about the history of the breeds, wonderful temperaments, roles, webbed feet and double coats etc. and quickly realize these awesome dogs either are or aren’t the right breed for them. I often think they’re be a lot less shelter dogs if people knew more about the differences between breeds and that while all are adorable they are very different indeed.

You are right about it being a rare opportunity to see the way different breeds move and behave. And, at the same time have similar 'doggy' traits too. For further information on some of the dogs, have a look at some of the older videos and you will find that Luke and Sam have given information on individual dogs. From memory, I think these were done in their summer months when it's too hot for the dogs to do an excessive amount of running and so they had a bit more time to go into more detail. I am sure they will be doing more once things have settled down and the summer months are upon them once again. Luke also has given us information on occasion on why there are no snakes on their Farm, why they have so many shallows nesting around their garage, why they move the plovers when they hatch and so on.

I agree, Tracey, so many shelter surrenders could be avoided if people just did some basic internet research on finding the right breed to match their lifestyle..there are whole websites devoted to it. And Carol gave a good reminder that Luke and Sam have helpful highlight videos on many of the farm dogs. 😊😊

I love watching the many different breeds at the farm their different conformation for the job they were bred for and how they move. Luke will have far more awareness of these traits than anyone as who can have have more experience of watching so many dogs in their walking ,trotting, galloping ,gaiting and other movements that do not fit into any of those [ like my staffy who moves ''like a crab going to Ireland'' LOL. For 60 years I have watched German Shepherd movement. Their long striding gaiting [ not galloping] is needed to guard and patrol around sheep on flat ground for long periods.Good shoulder and hind angulation conformation is essential Other sheep herding breeds don't gait only trot or gallop as might be their native terrain is rough or hilly. At the German 3 day Seiger shows the dogs that are up for the top honours have guns fired over their heads and are gaited around a huge ring for long periods sometimes with a change of handlers ,if they start to roll about or lose their coordination in their so beautiful ground covering movement, will not get the top honour. I went to Munich in 1981 Shepherds have had their conformation [ like Arabian horses] changed by breeders? and do not move how they had evolved , Arabians horses now move like an ostrich riding a bicycle .Shepherds appear to be moving very fast but with no hind thrust and ground covering extension.

I have tears in my eyes from laughing! The puppies are so adorable.. Luke so patient and gentle putting their costumes on.. then Spider Pup sitting all still with a “pls spare me the indignity” look on his face! 😂 The little dogs running into the paddock in slowmo look like mustangs being herded by cowboys, with dust flying and ears flapping galore! These vids are way better than anything on NetFlix! 😁

After an absolutely horrible day waiting to find out how my 83 year old mother's angiogram had gone.....3 stents......this video popped up just as my brother finally messaged me to let me know she was ok. This video was the perfect stress reliever! I love all the packs but small dog day is my favorite each fortnight. These adorable littlies absolutely melt my heart every time and the puppies are wonderful. Thank you for all the joy you bring and your generosity of spirit in sharing your wonderful world with us. OMG!!! The puppies in their costumes are so adorable!!! Luke getting them into those costumes is just like dressing kids.....just when you think you are done....nope, the outfits are off and you start over again ! (haha). All the pup costumes looked great for the pup's photo shots and they were all so well behaved!! The small pups are so excited and always raring to go!!! Love the pool actions, those Doxies with their little tail rudders are so fast!!!! Albert has no fear and made such a dive into the pool and swam right to Jason. How cool was that!!! Amber has an "old soul" just like Jelly & it's beautiful to see!!! The puppies think they are big dogs, just like all the small dogs do; so they fit right in. The puppies are now a part of the small dog pack!!! You guys are such Super Heroes to all the pups and all of us DDCF followers!!! This was a wonderful day and so much fun!! Another fun day for all. I had to laugh at Luke endeavouring to dress the wriggling puppies into their costumes…just like trying to dress a baby at the crawling stage, they just won’t stay still!😂 And what joy to see the puppies totally unfazed socialising with the small dog pack and having everyone sniff them. It was as if they are already seasoned farm dogs. What a blessing they will be for the families who adopt them. All thanks to the overwhelming love they’ve received since birth from you, Luke and Sam and the girls and all the DDFT staff. You are just amazing! 🙌🙌

I’ve said it before, small dog day is my absolute favourite and today’s episode was just incredible. 😃 All The Littles dressed in their costumes and getting their pictures taken was just so heartwarming. I find myself a tad emotional watching today’s video, not sure why because it was beautiful. 💖 It was nice to see uncle Jason in the pool as well enjoying the Littles and helping them swim …… and then the cuddles with all of them at the end just made my heart melt into a giant puddle. This video exemplifies happiness, joy and most importantly love. Thank you so much❤️

It just gets better everyday.. I thought yesterday"s party was amazing but of course the little dogs steal your heart every time. Loved the story of Jelly & Amber. Whoever rescued them loves them enough to bring them to the Farm. ( sorry to hear of Jelly's passing). Love watching the dachshunds in the pool. They all want Luke and he ends up with them all over him So great seeing the puppies with the other small dogs. They seemed to enjoy their new friends. .

You did a wonderful job last year of dressing up for trick or treat time, relatively new in Australia.... Small puppies day was no exception in the cuteness department, this year. Costumed were precious and they all looked out of this world..... Thank you again for all you, all do for us when at the same time, entertaining the puppies on their play day at the farm. Thank you all, including their mummies and daddies...

No need for sugar in my coffee with all this sweetness! Lucy's puppies are beyond adorable running around in their costumes, and they did so well with the pack...they're almost as big as the dashies! Thanks for the highlight on Amber...interesting how much like Jelly she is, and nice to have his spirit still with us! All of the costumes were great, but my favorites were Sophia and Gloria, the cuties. There must be some award for getting 9 dashies to pose in costume, lol! Nice to see Jason joining the pool fun...the dogs obviously love him! What a way to start the day! 😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰

The cuteness level on Halloween small dog day is off the charts! Loved hearing about Amber and Leah. That is really amazing how Amber is so very like Jelly. Puppies and dogs looked so adorable in their costumes. Great to see puppies getting used to small dog group. So many cuddles! Loved it!

Great watch as always guys. I could just freeze the video at 32 seconds and be happy for the day :-) Lovely little piece on Jelly and Amber. And great to see the puppies passing their meet & greet with flying colours. They really could not have wished for a better start to their puppy life.

I didn’t know this Jason was Aquaman! Those dashies are the vizslas on little dog day albeit more laid back. Great to see Clyde back. I love Pickles’ name - I thought of calling my basset pup this, but she turned into a gherkin. What a fab week of doggy love💕.

Bravely the puppies would romp around the small dogs, then dart back to security with either Luke or Adam; then brave another short adventure on their own. So cute. I would of thought these puppies would have be adopted already because once ready for a home you couldn't get a more balanced puppy.

@@heatherrowles9930 I'm not sure the puppies have been spoken for yet or that Luke has said if they have been, they have about 6 more weeks of socialization and training. You might be thinking of Yoyo who has been adopted by Nike's family...Yoyo will stay at the farm for about another week to ensure he's daycare ready.
